Chapter LXXXVII - Dungeon Boss (part 1)

A loud roar can be heard far deep inside the caves on the dungeon. 

Both teams, Fran and Jrake, turned their heads towards the roar when they heard it. Judging by how loud the roar was, it is obvious it came from the dungeon boss.

Fran quickly turned around and headed for the source of the roar, followed by her group. On the other hand, Jrake quickly sped up his pace.

Jrake arrived at the location of the rubbles. Hod already told him to find rubbles that was covering a path on a four way junction, and this must be it.

Jrake slowly moves the rubbles without collapsing more of the ceilings. Hearing the rubbles is being moved away, Valey and the others woke up from their doze.

"Guys! It must be Jrake!"

Cony and Barett stood up as they waited until Jrake and the others cleared the path. After a while, an opening on the stones can be seen, and Jrake peeked through.

"Guys!! Are you there!?"

"We are okay! Be careful, there's a large hole in front of you!"

"Okay!"

Slowly, the rubbles are being cleared, and Valey can finally see their rescue team more properly. Between them is a large and deep bottomless pit, where Hod and Rize dropped.

"Those two... went down there?"

"Yeah."

Jrake asked Valey after placing a large path to cross the abyss using his earth magic. One by one, Valey and the others crossed the path. Finally, all three are on the other side of the abyss.

"What should we do?"

Valey asked Jrake, but Jrake could only shake his head.

"I have the ability to detect my surroundings using earth magic. From what I have sensed, this hole is far deeper than what my senses can get. Normally, my senses were able to detect the entire kingdom, so you can tell exactly how deep this thing is."

Which means, this hole is even deeper than the kingdom's diameter. No rope can save them.

"I can fly."

Cony said out of the blue, but Jrake still shook his head.

"Well, even if you can fly, there's no guarantee that you can safely arrive at the bottom before running out of magic energy."

"That's true. Flying requires a lot of energy, Cony."

Valey and Jrake answered Cony's request, and Cony can only stare down. She wanted to do something, since she had the ability to do it. Those two had done so much to her, and yet she can't even save them.

All of the sudden, steps can be heard from behind. It's Fran and the others who came from the other path.

"Why are you guys... Oh."

Jrake was about to ask, but then he remembered something. In either one of these paths, they lead to the dungeon boss room.

"Anyone who can still fight, come with us. We may have found the location of the boss."

Fran said proudly. Just by hearing the boss's roar, one of her teammates, Rath, was able to locate its position immediately. After all, he is the best hunter.

"Fran... Hod and Rize are down there."

Fran approached Jrake and looked down. The darkness from the hole is eating all the light, and the senseless depth is quite chilling.

"Rath, come here."

Fran commanded. Rath, along with his cowboy hat, showed up from the crowd towards the giant hole.

"Find out how deep this is."

Fran took out an empty bottle from her magic ring and dropped it. Her plan was to make the glass break and let Rath detect its depth from the sound of the break.

She dropped the bottle, and then waited. They waited… and waited… and waited. Not a single sound came back after a whole minute.

"Could it be... This thing is insanely deep?"

"... That is exactly the case."

Fran asked Jrake, and having the ability to sense geography just by using magic, Jrake is certain that this thing is crazy deep.

"We will go kill the boss, then return here to help save Hod and Rize. They stopped answering a while ago, something must have happened to them."

Fran then called Valey and the others to come with her. The three agree, and the whole group went to the boss room, leaving Jrake and the rescue team by themselves.

"Now, how do I get to them..."
