Chapter XC - Aftermath (part 2)

When night falls, the adventurers have already finished prepping up. We all finally left using the carriages.

I went with the same carriage as Valon, along with Klane and Jrake. Apparently, Valon's carriage is a rather fancy one. Of course, it is after all a noble's wagon, one of the highest too. There's no way this could be bad.

Me and Jrake explained a few things about what happened in the dungeon to the master. I only explained it to the point where Marksus betrayed us though, but Jrake was able to get most of the parts right.

After betraying us, Marksus went ahead and went to fight the dungeon's boss by himself. But, he somehow got killed instead, along with his teammates.

Fran and Cane's group was able to locate the boss room, and they fought the dungeon boss and won. And since everyone else was immobilized by the boss' pressure, the two had to fight mostly by themselves.

"... So, that's about it."

Jrake finished explaining. The carriage is only half way across the trip now, and it's very dark outside. I can hear owls in the distance, and maybe a couple howls that belonged to some wild wolves.

Valon placed his fingers on his chin as he put some more thought to the explanation.

"I see… But, what I'm more interested in is..."

The master pointed his finger at me, who seemed to be very busy staring outside the carriage from the window. I turned my annoyed eyes at him when he pointed his finger at me.

"... You."

"Me?"

"I wanted to know what happened to you. After the betrayal, you went down and rescued Hod, right? What happened after that?"

So he wanted to know…

"It took Jrake nearly the whole second bell trying to save you. And while he was busy finding a way down the hole, you and Hod were down there the entire time.

When you guys came out, Hod lost a leg, and he had a huge scar on his neck. You on the other hand, was unconscious with multiple broken bones and burned muscles.

And now, here you are. Fully healed. Aside from the bandages on your hands, at least."

I kept silent, and slowly fixed my sitting position to face him.

The master moved his body forward and focused his ears on me. He really wanted an explanation from me.

"Tell me everything about what you see down there."

His gaze is peering my eyes, trying to pry information. I let out a sigh before I started.

This guy… once he really wants to know, he wants to know. He will get the information another way around, and probably use ways I don't like.

Plus, the trip is still very long. I don't like awkward situations, so might as well.

"After dropping down…-No, after being pushed by Valey, I met Hod while falling."

I started explaining everything to him, starting from the beginning. Every word coming out of my mouth is the truth. I just stopped telling the truth at the part right before I turned into the devil and slaughter the hell hounds.

"... After getting trapped, I heard a commotion outside the rubbles. It was loud and quite gory. And after a while, the rubbles closing the entrance exploded, and a three headed hell hound entered the room.

After entering the room, I can see the room behind it clearly. The three headed hell hound killed the other hellhounds."

This part was a lie. After the tri-headed hell hound entered the room, the hundreds of other hell hounds that were waiting outside entered the room and nearly flooded me and Hod. That's when I went berserk.

Next to me, I can sense Jrake's breathing becoming slightly hesitating. He knows I'm lying, and he is trying not to show it.

"I see. And this tri-headed hellhound... Cerberus, is what you called it?"

"I... never told anyone about that."

"Really? Valey told me that you named the tri-headed hellhound Cerberus."

"... I did?"

The gears in my brain are moving hard. I never even talked to Valey yet... Unless...

My gaze dropped to Jrake, who seemed to be sweating next to me. I understood what's going on, then turned my gaze back to the master.

"You're right. I named it Cerberus. It literally means the guardian dog of hell."

"That's a really cool name. So, this tri-headed Cerberus, is actually the dungeon boss that Cane and Fran fought. How is it possible that there are two dungeon bosses in the same dungeon?"

"Quite obvious, isn't it?"

Valon pondered about it for a while, and he let out a sigh while facepalming.

"... Double dungeon..."

This entire thing was just so unlucky towards me and Hod. The fact that we are doing a Yellow ranked dungeon raid was already so dangerous, and we had to fall into a second dungeon that was far beneath the Yellow dungeon.

And, that is not even the worst part.

"The worst part is probably the fact that the second dungeon underneath a Yellow ranked dungeon was actually a White ranked dungeon."

I explained to Valon about what led me to that idea, and he understood. The monsters inside that dungeon were so powerful, that their weakest were already a higher Yellow ranked.

It's totally a White ranked dungeon, and the dungeon boss must be the Cerberus that I killed. That fire burst thing it shot from all three of its mouths was very powerful too.

Does that mean… I'm more powerful than that thing?

Well, I mean… that's obvious, but…

Damn...

"… it didn't matter, Jrake already closed the entrance to that double dungeon already. Plus, you slain the dungeon boss, so we have nothing to worry about."

"I see... That's great then."

He leaned his back again and stared at me with a grin on his face. He really doesn't look too worried anymore, now that he knows that it is safe to assume that the dungeons were taken care of.

"What I wanted to hear next is how you beat it."

Immediately, I let out a sigh.

"I'm technically a White ranked adventurer, you know..."

"That rank was merely temporary."

For the rest of the trip, me and Valon debated a little bit about me being a White ranked adventurer or not. I do have the second adventurer card for my Masked Man identity, but Valon denied the card for being legitimate, which then led us to a long debate.

I also told him how I beat the second boss, which is fairly easy. I just didn't mention the part where I went insane.

By the time we arrived, the group of adventurers went straight to their homes and mamas.

As for me, I went to the hospital.
