"You can use magic. Any type. Just… try not to kill your opponents. Okay, begin."
The teacher was so casual in his speaking, the students in the arena did not realize the game had started until the teacher turned around.
Jericho had the quickest reaction, so she fired first. When she realized the teacher had begun the game, she was quick to act.
A flat and long wind slash quickly made its way towards Bonzie, but Bonzie is very athletic. She leaped a few meters to dodge the surprising wind slash, and right before she landed, she shot her own light arrow at Jericho.
That was definitely a pro move… no newbie would ever make a move like that.
The class E… is indeed interesting!
The light arrow flew even faster than the wind slash, but Jericho can dodge. No, she flew.
"H-Hey! That's not fair!"
Bonzie shouted at Jericho, who was floating in the air with her barely visible wind wings. Jericho stuck out her tongue at Bonzie, pissing her even more.
Bonzie's partner, Maneil, was a very witted one. While she was trading shots with Manda, she was able to fire an incredibly accurate water bullet at Jericho, who still had her focus on Bonzie.
TAR!!!
The water bullet knocked Jericho out, and she landed outside of the arena's platform.
"Jericho is out."
The teacher announced. And now, Manda is all on her own.
Bonzie and Maneil grins as they power up their attacks, but Manda shows no fear at all.
She slammed her fist on the ground and a wall of stone quickly lifted from the ground.
"She's… an earth magician?"
"No… It's creation magic."
Bonzie and Maneil traded words as they can only watch the giant stone wall, separating them and Manda.
There was silence for a while, and the two were out of patience. Bonzie shot her light arrow at the stone wall, but as soon as the stone wall breaks from the attack, it immediately regenerates. And now, the stone wall looked very new.
"W-What?"
"She is already this good!?"
Maneil and Bonzie went non stop on their attacks, but the stone wall just doesn't fall at all.
And while they are shooting, Manda pops from the top of the wall, with a giant fireball in her hand.
"Take this!"
She thrown the fireball from beyond the wall towards her opponents. Maneil and Bonzie was too taken aback to react.
BLARR!!
Maneil and Bonzie was thrown off the platform at the same time, giving Manda the win.
"Winner, Manda and Jericho."
The teacher announced, and the students quickly went to Manda to comment on her.
"T-That was creation magic, wasn't it?"
The first student asked, and Manda nodded.
Both her fireball and the stone wall were made out of creation magic. But, her fireball was actually a merge between her Intermediate tier fire magic and the creation magic, creating an even more powerful fireball.
And the fact that she was able to throw the fireball from the top of the three meters stone wall, was because she had already learned the ability to fly.
I think out of everyone who trained last night, Manda is definitely the most profiting one aside from Jericho. She is crazily powerful now...
Jericho, who was uninjured but ashamed, went ahead and patted Manda on the shoulder.
"Who would've thought someone like you can be this good?"
"A-Are those really a compliment…?"
The class then continues. Students after students were pitted on the arena, and the teacher has been paying his full attention to the battles, even though his comments were mostly half-hearted and lacking care.
The students who left to the training ground last night were very shocked seeing all the new abilities that everyone who stayed now has.
Everyone… is regretting.
As I was looking around grinning to their shocked faces, I didn't hear my name getting called.
"Rize… It's our turn…"
Lemillia said to me while lightly pulling my sleeves, and I turned quickly to her.
"Ah… right. Let's go, Lemillia."
I said to her, who sat next to me. I was telling her about our strategy, and she agreed.
Because today, I will only be using my shadow magic.
We are fighting Elmone and his partner. Great, two shadow mages facing one another. Except one is a very talented Intermediate tier shadow mage and the other one is a complete noob, worse than a normal beginner tier shadow mage.
Me and Elmone stared at each other quite intensely while grinning until the teacher finally announced.
"Okay, you guys know the rules. Ready, go."
And just like that, the game has started.
I conjured a one meter shadow wall covering only half of our bodies, but this is used for a cover.
Elmone's partner shot a fireball at us, but the fireball struck the shadow cover, very close to Lemillia who screamed after getting hit by the fireball's heat.
"Lemillia, you have to strike back!"
I said to her while peeking, and a fireball came my way.
BARR!!
It exploded just a meter behind me, which is fairly close.
Meanwhile, straight across from me, Elmone is already grinning, folding his arms like some evil final boss.
I need to be smarter with my shadow magic…
I quickly cloaked myself in shadow magic. The shadow magic was able to cover my whole body. I stared at myself, and I could see myself covered in long black robes.
"Woah… That's cool."
Elmone mutters when his friend fires another fireball. The fireball hit me perfectly, and yet, I didn't feel any heat.
"Shadow armor..."
I mumbled as I stared at my body. Feeling confident, I lifted my hand, and a giant tentacle of shadow appeared from my hand. The shadow tail shot upwards, then slowly formed a long stick with the edge forming a slightly curved blade.
A pitch black gothic scythe… One million percent my style.
"H-Hey! No physical attacks!"
Elmone spoke as he watched me creating the shadow scythe.
"I know. It's only to take your attention."
BAAARRRR!!!!!!
Elmone was too late to react. Right after I finished my sentence, a blast of lightning struck the shadow on his foot, and he quickly lost balance.
Lemillia has gone serious.
Elmone's partner shot a fireball, but I quickly slashed my scythe at the fireball to protect her. The scythe slash was able to remove the fireball completely thanks to its powerful swing, saving Lemillia from any heat.
And by the time the flames disappeared, Lemillia was already fully charged. She glanced at me as if asking whether or not she should do this.
She is a kind one, she definitely wouldn't want to hurt anyone unless you have to. But, she knows that I am a healer, and she turns to me with a worried gaze.
"Go ahead. Zap them."
I said with a grin, and she slowly turned to the enemies before firing her lightning bolt.
BAAARRRR!!!!!
The lightning bolt splits in half midway and zapped both Elmone and his partner at high voltage.
That was great control… She is indeed insanely talented.
The two who got zapped were unconscious on their platforms, charred and smoking. Seeing these two sleeping on their platforms, the teacher announced.
"Winner, Lemillia and Rize."
