Chapter CXXIII - Exams (part 2)

After everyone else had their turn, it's finally Jericho's. And after her, it's me.

"Okay, Jericho. Let's start at the top. Ready?"

"Yeah."

"Okay. Fist augmenting."

A blazing wind tornado formed on Jericho's right hand forming a fist. Seeing how powerful it is, the teacher nodded.

"Good. Can you create a technique using your wind magic?"

With a single flick of her hand, multiple wind balls were conjured in the air above her hair.

"Nice! Now enchant your hand and turn this rock to sand."

The teacher placed a rock at the size of a palm on the table. Jericho picked it up and then enchanted her arm. The stone was crushed to sand very easily.

"Very good, Jericho! As expected of the class top. Now do your highest jump."

"Hee-hee…"

Oh, dear.

I know what that smile means…

Jericho nodded happily and took a few steps back. Doing this might cause quite the wind force around her as she jumps.

The wind force… to what extent? I have some guesses.

Jericho quickly enchanted both of her legs with all the magic energy that she has, and then used wind magic to add an extra boost. She is both augmenting using wind magic and enchanting her legs with magic energy.

Then she released all that energy and leaped up.

FWOOOOOSHH!!!!!!!!!

"Woah. She flew."

I muttered as Jericho flew hundreds of meters in the air. The teacher quickly panicked, thinking that Jericho might not be able to land. But then I had to remind him that she can fly, so he quickly calmed down.

She managed to reach the clouds at high speed, and when she started to fall down, she activated her wind flight and slowly descended.

"Wow... I have never tried that before. That was awesome."

Jericho mutters as she lands.

Everyone around us is staring blankly at how insanely strong that leap was. The teacher had no choice but to give her the perfect score.

"Okay, Rize. Your turn."

Jericho patted me on the shoulder as she went back to the rest of the class while being praised. 

I answered the teacher's call and moved forward.

"Okay, the final one. Try not to eh... show off too much. I'm giving you full marks on everything, so you don't need to try very hard."

Oh.

Hey, that's nice.

The teacher must be quite familiar with my abilities already, and he probably thought there's no use to doing this whatsoever.

But, I wanted to do it. I want to show off.

"Sorry, but I want to do it like everyone else. I don't want to lose to Jericho."

"I see… So be it, then."

The teacher then starts the test. It starts from fist augmentation, then casting a fire and shadow magic, as well as doing a ranged attack with it. 

And finally, it's the jump thing.

"Now eh... Try not to cause too many issues..."

"I understand."

Fingers crossed… heheh.

I began moving backwards a little bit. Doing this might actually affect some people, so I need to do something to not cause any issues.

Now, too much power can get the floor destroyed. But what if I leap at something that is not the floor?

VWOOOM!!!!!!

I casted shadow magic on my foot, and a large shadow pillar slowly lifted me up five meters in the air.

Now, the floor won't get damaged. Instead, the shadow pillar that I created will be destroyed instead, leaving the floor only slightly damaged.

"Hey, hey. Isn't that cheating?"

"Yeah! She is raising her own height using shadow magic!"

The students from the other class were confused and blatantly accused me of cheating. But the teacher stayed still, so they had nothing to do about it.

Instead, a teacher from another class came.

"Mister Fergulus... Don't you think she is cheating?"

"Well, if it was up to me, she already has a perfect score. But, she wants to show off."

"... What do you mean?"

"You'll see."

The teacher then fixed his eyes back at me, who was concentrating on enchanting my legs.

Enchanting my legs will not be enough. I need to do augmentation too. With the shadow magic to strengthen my legs, and the fire magic's explosion to help boost me up. These two magic are the perfect combination.

A hint of shadow fluids can be seen growing larger and larger on my legs, and a flaming explosion can be felt underneath my foot.

Now, to cover my foot using shadow magic, so that my clothes won't be destroyed by the flames. The shadow magic quickly envelopes my whole feet, creating a cool looking shadow armour, but only boots.

I enchanted my feet using even more magic energy, and everyone around me can feel the heavy pressure.

VWOOOOOMMM!!!!!!

"Teacher... Fergulus... Is she..."

"Yeah. She is going to fly."

I slowly lowered my body as I counted to three. I moved both of my hands behind me, and my foot is bent with my muscles being held, like a spring.

And finally, I released everything.

BLAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sound of the explosion from my powerful jump can be heard by every single soul who is in the back court. The shadow pillar where I stood immediately shattered to pieces, while the floor on the bottom is only destroyed slightly from the force.

Every student turned their gazes to the skies where I disappeared behind the clouds at mach speed, all with opened mouths.

Including Arfius.

"Heh!"

Arfius did the test just like everybody else, which is just a simple high jump. He didn't get the chance to show off like Jericho and I did.

"She... flew like a..."

"Like a reverse thunder."

The teachers muttered as I flew thousands of meters to the skies at super high speed, feeling the air on my face. By the time I reached the top, I quickly used shadow magic to create a shadow wing on my back.

I don't get why there's only one shadow wing. The other one is probably bugged or something, because I just can't seem to create a second one.

Using only one shadow wing, I floated hundreds of meters above the clouds and stared at the orange sky.

This is not something you can see every day without magic...

After taking a deep breath, I realized the air is very thin up here, and I might even choke to death.

I went back down immediately while trying really hard to breathe...
