Chapter CXXVII - Final Day of Training (part 2)

"Then... Now!"

Jericho quickly dashed forward. She had her gauntlets back, ready to punch. By the time she was in range, I quickly created a shadow wall in front of me.

PRANNGG!!!

With a single punch, the shadow wall was shattered, and the pieces fell to the ground like glass. 

Jericho didn't stop, she quickly made her way at me with high speed. Faster than anything she has ever been.

I quickly lifted my sword and blocked her punch.

BAARRR!!

The punch threw me backwards, but it didn't destroy my sword. Mainly because my shadow sword is made of a more condensed shadow magic, and it's nothing to be laughed at.

She quickly made her way at me again, but this time, she shot some ranged wind magic at me.

Wind blades and slashes slice through the air at high speed. I moved my hands and sliced the sword to parry the wind attacks. The wind attack dissipates right after I slice it.

"Tch! Then how about this!"

She was very close to me, but she didn't throw a punch. Instead, she formed a wind ball with an extremely high pressure, rotating at high speed on her palms. She moved her palm forward and placed the wind ball on my stomach. The wind ball then exploded with high rotation pressure.

Why does this wind ball feel familiar?

FWOOSHH!!

The wind ball was able to throw me back, and hurt me quite a bit on the stomach. It's not something that can be healed, unfortunately. Like one of those punches on the gut.

"Damn… That's some good punch. Now, it's my turn."

I lifted my left hand and formed ten-No, twenty firebombs at the size of an apple. The firebombs then quickly flew towards Jericho.

"Hiii!!!!"

Seeing how there's so many deadly bombs flying at her, she screamed as she tried to get away from the bombs.

BOOM!!!!

BAAAAARRRR!!!!

BAAAAARRRRR!!!!

After ten minutes of running away and screaming, she is on the ground, extremely tired. 

Her cheek is slightly charred, and also her right shoulder and her left knee. The explosions completely shut her down.

"Y-You sadistic..."

"Heheh. Sorry."

I casted healing magic on her. She felt really tired from running away from certain death. But after I healed her, energy quickly returned, and she stood up immediately.

"Those firebombs... They are very powerful, aren't they?"

"Yep. I… could make hundreds very easily if I wanted to."

"... You really are a sadist."

"Hey! I didn't use a whole hundred on you, so you're welcome!"

She chuckled right after. Seeing her laugh like this sure is rare. Everyone else below us clapped after seeing the battle, but they had no choice but to feel sorry for Jericho after being chased by the firebombs like that.

"So? Where am I lacking?"

"Hmm... I couldn't really tell. You didn't really do anything bad, it's just your opponent is a little too strong. If it was anyone else, you would surely win."

"Ah... That's convenient to think about."

"Yeah. Nice work."

I shook her hands and turned to everyone else. Now that today's business has been taken care of, what's left is just the event itself.

Tomorrow, we will be beating everyone.

In the Autumn event, there are five minigames or events in total that every class has to attend.

The first game is the five against five battle tournaments. There are fifteen classes in total, from the first year to the third year, and we will be pitted against our year first before we will go against the other years.

The tournaments will be planned very carefully. In the first wave of the game, Class E will fight Class D, and Class C will fight class B. Then the winners from each of these battles will fight each other, and the winner from that battle will fight class A. 

The winner of that last battle will be the champion of that year, and will challenge the champions of the second year in a battle. And finally, the winner of that battle will go against the champion of the third year.

Which means class A will only have one battle to become the champion of the year, and the third year of class A will only have to battle twice, which is so lazy in my opinion.

But with this planning, everything is fair. Meaning none of the classes will be fighting class A right off the bat.

The second event is the battle royal. Three students from every class will be pitted on a large arena, where they will be forced to survive and fight against the other students in the other classes. The winner is decided by which class is able to survive to the last.

It's like a survival game, basically. It's the game that racks the most points.

The third is the shooting game, and it's probably the easiest one of all. The shooters will use the same gun tool that was used on the exam and shoot some moving targets. The class with the most points wins.

The fourth game, the speed race, requires the most agile student out of all. There will be obstacles along the race course, and whoever finishes first is the winner.

The fifth event requires strategy. The ultimate board game. The rules are fairly difficult. One 'king' student will control the other five 'pawn' students placed on the board, and they will have to fight the other students who are also controlled by the opponent.

The 'king' will control the 'pawns' movement and tell them who to fight. If they win, then the enemy's pawn will be removed. If they lose, then the pawn he was using will be removed.

This game will be a whole different story if you are fighting class A, because they are the strongest. Because no matter what strategy, in the end strength matters the most.

There are five students on the board, and one student who is the king. So this game will be played by six students.

After the sparring battles with all the class E students, I told Elmone to start forming the groups that will play on the events.

And after discussing it with the others, we have found the perfect list.

Jericho and Manda will be joining the battle tournament, along with three other students. The two alongside the other three students are quite competent, perhaps the best of class E students.

Me, Lemillia, and a male student called Alden will go on the battle royale. With me being there, we can rack up so many points by beating literally everyone.

Bonzie will be the one at the shooting game, since she was the winner of the shooting game at the class we held around two months ago. 

Maneil will be the speedrunner. She was the fastest among us, proven by our everyday training here. She was always the first to arrive, beating Jericho and any other wind mages that can fly.

And finally, Elmone will be the king for the board game, while his pawns are the other male students who will be with him.

I actually wanted to join in on the battle tournament, so I can fight against the third years, but then I remembered that my true opponent isn't in the third year. It's that Arfius guy, who is said to be as strong as the headmaster.

The third year was never my opponent. Arfius is.

"All right. Tomorrow, I will give the list to the student council. So you all just take a good rest. Okay guys?"

Elmone said as he stood up, followed by everyone. The sun is already down, and we should be returning to our dorms to rest up. 

Tomorrow... is a big day.
