I tapped the mic to see if it's on. The loud sound of me tapping the mic was heard, and I can tell everyone looked quite annoyed by it.
"Good morning, losers!! Everyone had a bath yet!?"
What a morning greet, indeed.
I can tell the teachers around me watched speechlessly as I mocked an entire army of students. Right in front of me, either they are a senior, junior, or those from the same year as me, got shocked heavily by that greeting.
"Thank god for the morning weather, because I won't be able to smell your armpits!!"
More disses came from my mouth, which confused the teachers even more. The students however, became even more annoyed and enraged. I can see my friends facepalming on the second year row, and I chuckled.
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Geez, stop making the ceremonies so boring! I'm trying out a change in the scenery here for once."
I reasoned, but then a voice came from the students.
"By being unfunny!?"
That came from the third year row, and everyone laughed really hard when they heard it.
"I hate you too, random citizen!
Anyway, you must be wondering what the great me is doing up here. Instead of the headmaster, it was me who was standing here! Surprising!!
As you can see, I'm in my student council robes, so you can tell why I am here easily."
The students began whispering to one another, but not too loud. I let them talk to one another for a few seconds before I continue, since that is how you play with crowds.
After a few seconds, I spoke on the mic once again.
"That's right. I'm here… for the huge event that you all have been waiting for.
M!-I!-T! Magic Internship Tour!"
Hearing the name being announced, everyone became even more excited. Not just them, I too am getting quite excited.
"But… what is… the MIT, exactly?
As the name suggests, magic internship tour. It's an internship with the mage corps, as well as a tour. Most of the time, you will be outside the academy, and you will be supervised by the professional mages of Xyphon. You will adventure to various places, even spots outside the kingdom, doing missions and dealing with problems, all while being under the supervision of the mages corps.
Know that the process can be quite… boring for some of you, who craves for thrill and danger. But be patient, because there will be a chance for you to be… thrilled."
A mad grin formed on my face, giving everyone the chills when I suddenly stopped talking and grinned this madly. Everyone knows what kind of person I am, and they know what it means when I am smiling like this.
"When it comes to it, you will be tested. At some point, they might just stop watching over you and let you do your own missions.
And when it truly comes to worst… you can die!"
They all suddenly became even more frightened. The air on the ceremony became much colder, and the eerie silence made the ceremony feel dark.
I immediately formed a soft smile, and changed the tone of my speaking.
"But don't worry, that's only for the most difficult level."
Everyone became confused, so I continued my explanation.
"The internship will be done in multiple levels, and each level will be much harder than the other. The levels start from the first, where you are being supervised by the mages and only do easy missions. It slowly gets harder on the second level, where you will not be helped at all by the mages. And at the last level, you can actually die.
Because in the last level, not only will you be doing a difficult mission, but you will also be treated as an actual mage of the kingdom. You will no longer be a 'student', and you will face actual danger right in front of your face.
And we, the student council, the academy, as well as the mage corps, will be expecting that every single one of you reach the third level.
Why, you may ask? Why should you, who is still a student, going to face such dangers so early?
The answer, my friends, is experience. You will receive experience that will be extremely important for your future, as a mage. You will see up close how mages do things, how to spot a danger, and how to solve them as well as surviving them.
A mage… protects their citizens.
If you are too scared and want to be protected all the time, can you even call yourself a mage?
I mean, I'm not even a Xyphon citizen, but I know exactly what it means to be a mage of the kingdom. After all, I was once an adventurer, and I faced dangers every single day.
And I can tell you all… I can tell you about how much those experiences are worth…
They are… impossible to be counted.
In fact, no money in this world is enough to pay for them! Because that was my experience, and I will never hand it over to anyone! And to require them, I had to risk my life… Every. Single. Day!
To all of you, who will be facing dangers right after you graduate from the academy, this is the perfect chance. Get yourself prepared, and get to the highest level as quickly as you can.
You have only one week. The Xyphon mages will supervise, but only to a certain extent. The rest… are up to you.
Are you a mage of the kingdom… or are you just a pussy?"
After that last question, the entire ceremony became silenced once again. I was talking by myself for the entire time, and I worried that they did not listen.
Damn it… did I just unconsciously speak by myself?
I need one last boost. Otherwise, the speech will just make everyone's mood darker.
I peered my eyes, and spotted something on the roof. A single man, in a mage's robes, is standing and watching us. His long robes covered his entire body, and he wore a hood as well as a mask.
Who is that guy? I have no idea.
But, an idea immediately came to me just from seeing him.
"If you do well, and you manage to get as much experience as you can…"
I took out an item from my space ring. The item was opened forcefully by the wind, and I placed my right hand inside.
"… If you really want to be proud of who you are, in the next coming years…"
I placed my left hand, and now I am wearing it. I got this robe when I got promoted into vice president, and was given to me by Veneo himself.
He told me that when the time is right, I should use it. And I guess, this is the right time to showcase it for motivation.
The long white robe with golden ornaments etched everywhere on it, and the wind made the effect even cooler. Everyone watched as I put it on, and they all wore the same shocked expression.
A Master Wizard robe, the second highest mage rank in the kingdom. The first highest was the arch-mage, and the Master Wizard title is merely an honorary. There are only a few others who own this title, and they barely do anything political.
"Then… you can wear a robe like this as arrogant as you can!!"
Everyone recognized the robe, and was very shocked seeing me wearing it. The teachers next to me understood more than the children how high the Master Wizard rank is, and they were no less surprised than the children.
""""WOOOAAHHH!!!!!""""
Obviously, everyone was very shocked.
I realized that this will cause a great deal of havoc if it leaks out, so I quickly said something to fix that.
"Oh, this robe was lent by the headmaster. It's not mine."
"""Heeh!?!?"""
Everyone became rowdy immediately, completely changing the atmosphere. I laughed loudly on the podium while everyone was throwing boos at me.
"Okay, that's all from me. Goodbye!"
I opened my shadow wings and began flying away with the master wizard robes. I can still feel the boos going loudly, even after I left the field.
I landed on the roof of the middle building, where I saw the hooded mage before. That guy was still here, and he was watching the entire time.
I walked to him, to try to ask who he was, and he lifted the hood off his head.
"Oya. Julius."
"Sir Julius… I am still older than you."
"Nope, just Julius."
I placed my hands on my hips and grinned. Julius let out a sigh and tilted his head to the side, telling me to follow him.
We leaped away from the roof, and there were a few people that noticed.
Including Arfius.
