Special Chapter XII - Progress (part 1)

Finally, the source.

I used my healing magic and purged the curse directly on the water particle inside the dirt particle. Once the water was cleansed, the purple color from the entire dirt particle disappeared.

And it didn't return.

Bingo.

A grin formed on my face as I realized what I have to do now. Another reason for the smile was because I realize exactly how much I have to work.

That much work was only for a single particle. There is an entire field, filled with millions of particles from just a single lump of dirt.

But, at least I found an answer. I just have to start doing it correctly.

Plus, this might be the best training for my healing magic.

I started right after. I boosted my output to maximum and began moving from particles to particles.

At first, the rate of my healing was two particles every second, but after five minutes I got used to it and was able to go at five particles per second.

Huge boost, but I can be even faster.

The night goes on with me moving around very slowly on the field while glowing like a lantern. Everyone watched for a while and was confused, because they were expecting a large energy output coming from me.

Time goes on, and midnight finally comes. Everyone has already returned to the kingdom to rest, and the villagers are already asleep.

Me, however, is still going.

I'm getting faster… much faster.

After a while, the sound of roosters crowing in the blind morning can be heard. The village doesn't have a bell to tell the time, but they woke up from the sound of these roosters. After all, they are very loud.

Hmm… maybe I could cook one…

I thought as I stared at a rooster crowing not too far from my position.

I had created an ear muffler to cover my ears so it doesn't go deaf from the rooster's crowing. I stared at it annoyingly, thinking about how it would taste with a barbeque sauce.

Right… I haven't eaten yet.

I turned my gaze to the village, and noticed that some of them were already waking up. It didn't take long until they started to do their daily work, while I'm just standing in the middle of their field doing god knows what.

Well… I do know what I'm doing.

I noticed the patch of dirt under me was already fully cleared, so I moved to the next. Right now, I no longer count my progress with particles. I count from how wide my range is.

My healing magic is like automatic now. I can heal the water particles just like normal without even looking that deep, but it's still taking a while.

To say it boldly, I had to move steps every two minutes now. That is how fast I have become.

And after an entire night, I only cleared about ten meters or so.

Only a few hundreds of meters left!

The villagers came later on, asking if I'm tired and whether or not I want to take a rest. But I told them that I'm just a bit hungry, and they brought me what I would call the weirdest bread ever.

It's bread, but it's not made out of wheat. It's made out of potatoes.

Confused? Same.

Welp, it's still something. It's also not that bad, so I'm not complaining.

Mid day, and the speed of my healing magic has become insanely fast. I can just start walking at a very slow pace, and the ground below me is cleansed.

I don't even have to look now. I can just wiggle around those healing magic using my imaginary magic hands, and I can already heal the entire patch.

It's like you did the same thing for so long, that your brain started to automate it. The perfect example is typing on a keyboard, and how you just simply don't look at the keyboard anymore as you type after a while.

That, but like ten-twenty times the learning rate because it's magic.

My team came about an hour after mid-day, and they said they were just dealing with a mission. I didn't ask what mission it is, because from their expressions, I can tell it probably sucks.

"You're enjoying yourself, huh?"

Arfius said as he studied the patch of land behind me. He seemed to have noticed that those grounds had been cleansed, and he also noticed how I don't look tired at all.

"I am very certain that by the end of this, my healing magic will be at the Emperor tier."

"W-What…? That's cheating…"

"Is it? Are you willing to stand all night long and collect sand particles on an entire beach?"

"Umm… I have never been to a beach before-"

"Not my point."

After a while, my team told me that they will leave to the kingdom again to rest, and I told them that I'll be here. I'm not sure when I will finish, since the field is still pretty wide.

After they left, the farmers talked to me about starting to farm again on the ground that I have cleared. It didn't take long before the guys started to plant the seeds again. And after they planted them, they left me alone in the field again.

Wow… being lonely sucked.

That thought came after the twenty four hour mark nearly arrived. The sun is now setting, showing that it's nearly twenty four hours since I started. I started just after the sun went down, which means it will be exactly a day since I started.

The rate of my healing is just the same as my normal walk. I might miss a couple bits that I failed to cleanse, but that bit won't do much harm since it's so small. But at this rate, I should finish somewhere around an hour.

My healing magic better be at the Emperor tier after this…

I'm still unsure how breakthroughs work, but I know that it is mostly caused by the proficiency of one's use of magic and the understanding of that element. With this method, I am increasing my proficiency at an abnormal rate.

Getting Emperor tier now will not be weird, since I am doing the healing magic almost a thousand times faster than I normally do.

That's still pretty nuts to think about…

While thinking about it, I didn't realize that I arrived at the final patch. All I have to do is walk from one end of the farm to the other, and that's the end.

I ended up challenging myself by pushing my energy output beyond normal. Then, I did a bit of some preparation.

Go!

I began to run… slowly.

No, nevermind.

I ended up missing a spot, and I cleansed it right after.

Dammit… I thought I could run…

I ended up brushing the rest of the walk in annoyance. But after I arrived at the end, I lifted my fist up.

I did it!!

I couldn't run though, that sucked. But, I did it!!

I'm the greatest!!!
