Chapter CXL - Chimera (part 2)

ZIIIIIINNNNGG!!!!!!!!

A beam of light came from his palms at high speed and went towards the mutant. It completely ate the mutant whole, completely covering it in a blinding heat of light.

But… my senses are still actively warning me… 

Something is happening inside the light blast.

Veneo must have noticed it as well, so he stopped his light beam, showing us what was happening.

The light beam was able to eat the mutant whole, but the mutant is completely fine. It is not affected by the light, if anything it only got pushed back.

"Veneo!!! ROAA!!!!"

Noticing that it was freed from the light blast, the mutant began charging forward towards us. But since the two of us are still confused, we chose to simply dodge.

BAAAARRRR!!!!!!!!!!

The mutant crashed into the walls, creating a hole on the wall behind the receptionist desk.

It is now inside the academy's territory, but the two of us simply left it there since we are still very confused.

"What... just happened?"

I quickly asked him while standing outside the lobby, but the headmaster looked more frightened than I was. I turned to him in the air behind me, and he was wearing a truly frightened expression.

"Anti... magic."

"Anti-magic?"

"Yeah… It's the same as the anti-magic handcuffs."

Oh... Now I get it.

My super powerful fist from before only managed to push it a few meters back, when I could have destroyed it completely. Even with my sword enchanted, I couldn't slice its head in half. And the headmaster's light beam, which was supposed to be as hot as the sun, didn't affect it at all. 

That thing… has the ability to nullify all magic attacks with its skin.

"Surely, that thing has got to have a limit, right?"

"There is no limit to anti-magic… We are truly faced with a problem here."

"... I see. Then we just have to kill it physically?"

Veneo turned his gaze to me, while I'm giving it a much deeper thought.

"How do you kill something that sturdy…? Your sword couldn't even slice it."

"Oh, come on. There are other means of attacking physically."

I said as I tapped the temple above my left ear, implying that we should use our brains.

I began telling the headmaster about my plan, and finished just in time when the mutant was coming back from the crater on the walls. It looked more pissed than before.

BAARRR!!!!

The mutant is now facing us, completely turning its back on the academy. Luckily it has no interest in the academy whatsoever, so we won't have to worry about it harming the students.

After a while, Veneo and I finished discussing the plan.

"Okay... That is worth a try."

"I'll distract it. Just take your time."

"Don't worry. It won't take long."

I nodded at him and quickly dashed forward, leaving the headmaster with the plan.

"Hur??"

The mutant looked very ready this time and lifted its axe. I simply used my shadow tail to grab the axe again and stop its movements.

GRPPP!!!

"Hurrr!??"

Looks like the giant axe is touchable, at least. If I try to attack it with my shadow magic, it will only just tickle him.

VWOOMM!!!!!

I casted my new Emperor tier fireballs at him, and dark purple flames were fired out from my hand and exploded on its body.

The flames exploded and burned on its body while the force managed to push it backwards, but it didn't affect him at all.

"Hor-Hor-Hor..."

I-Is that thing laughing? Well, you better eat that laugh back.

My eyes turned to the ground underneath it, and that thing followed my gaze.

VWOOOMM!!!!!!!

The purple flames that were burning on the ground started spreading on its fur covered legs. And since purple flames are much hotter than a normal flame, it definitely affected him.

"Hoooaaaa!!!!!"

It screamed as the purple flames slowly ate away its entire leg. 

While the fireball itself is a form of magic, the flames caused from the fireball isn't. Those flames that are burning on the ground are no longer part of magic, hence it will be able to hurt it.

I could rely on these flames alone to kill that thing… but I'd rather finish this quickly.

"Okay, headmaster. He is distracted."

"Thanks. That fire does look hot though."

I'm not exactly sure why he commented that so horrifyingly, but I had to put that aside when I saw him.

My eyes grew bigger and I quickly dashed to the side, out of the way. And right where I moved away, a boulder the size of a bus flew past me at bullet speed and smacked the mutant in the face.

BAAAAAARRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!

The smack threw the mutant all the way to the front court inside the academy.

Speaking of the academy, it seems like a lot of students are gathering in the center park. They must be quite curious about what is happening at the gate, but they were probably stopped by the teachers from approaching.

Meanwhile, the high and mighty headmaster flew quite far up in the air, with all six gigantic boulders behind him. He looked like a god with those six gigantic boulders forming a circle pattern behind him. 

And those boulders are massive, holy shit…

I activated my shadow wings and flew to his side, glaring down at the creature that is now trying to stand back up.

"Thank you for the preparation time, Rize. Ah, if you don't mind, can you cast a wall around me and the creature? I don't want the students to see the... gruesome scene that is about to come."

In the park, the students are watching the scene that is going on. All of them are curious as to what is happening, and they are watching with their eyes wide open. Seeing the chimera right below us must be quite scary, isn't it? 

But isn't the headmaster the scariest thing in the universe right now?

What the headmaster is about to do is not a thing they should be seeing, especially when all of them are a bunch of noble cry babies. They might just puke when they see it. In fact, I'm not completely sure if I can still keep my stomach after this.

This plan was a really gruesome one, after all...

"Sure thing."

I nodded at the headmaster before heading down.

I flew down and landed next to the mutant. It glared at me confusingly, but I simply lifted up my right hand to the sky.

"Don't mind me, just putting up walls so everyone can't see..."

With a radius of fifteen meters from the mutant, a giant circular wall of shadow quickly formed around me and the mutant. It is extremely tall and big, even including the headmaster inside it.

After creating the gigantic tower tube out of shadow magic, I opened a small opening on the side for me to exit and shouted.

"Okay, headmaster. All yours."

"Thank you, Rize. Tell the others to cover their ears please."

I left the shadow wall and closed the opening. The mutant glared up to see the evil grinning headmaster up there, not knowing of the events that would happen in the next few seconds.

"P-President! What is going on?"

The secretary of the student council, a third year student from class A, came forward to me when I approached the students at the park.

"Just an enemy attack on the academy. The headmaster got this handled. 

Ah!! Can all of you cover your ears!!?"

I shouted to everyone at the park, and they all looked around confused. I covered my own ears, but I can see some people who are doubting me and not putting cover to their ears.

You will absolutely regret not doing that…

BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!

The loud sound of earth hitting each other can be heard. The students quickly covered their ears from the loud sounds. Luckily, it was quite far from any building, so no glasses on the buildings shattered from the impacts of the boulder.

BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another shockwave shook the earth, possibly louder than before, but the students already closed their ears.

"W-What is happening!?"

The secretary asked me, but I simply opened my ear cover that looked like a headset made of shadow magic and spoke to her.

"The headmaster is hammering the enemy."
