Chapter CLVIII - T-Teamwork... Yay? (part 1)

After Rath pointed it out, I also quickly realized what was happening.

They really are idiots…

They were so engrossed in proving that they are better than the other, that they forgot their real objective was to kill the monster.

They forgot how to kill a monster for a second, and just aimed for blatant and open attacks. It's quite obvious to see after watching it for a while.

Like, the forehead? Seriously, Cane?

Fran too, she could've stabbed any other parts aside from the legs! Maybe, I don't know, its vital points??

Whatever, at least now the two have awakened and realized what their true goal is.

To kill the Minotaur.

"ROOAAA!!!!!!!!"

The Minotaur dashed forward, but this time they had a plan.

Fran moved in to slice the legs of the minotaur. She was able to get a few cuts in before getting kicked by the minotaur away.

ZING!!!

A light beam was shot towards the minotaur's right eye, but it missed just a tiny bit to the right. The side of the minotaur's eye was cooked, but it's not enough to deal any decent damage. Seeing this, Cane flinched.

"Damn! Sorry Fran, I missed."

"That's fine. Let's do it again."

This time, they are truly working together.

Fran came from the side and slashed the back side of the legs. The minotaur fell to its knees the moment it lost control of the legs.

Fran has been getting some good cuts in. It was all pointed at one spot, the very muscle that is keeping this thing standing right on the back of the foot.

BOOM!!!

And now, this thing can't stand correctly anymore.

The minotaur dropped its knee to the ground, and it writhes as it tries to move that very leg. But Fran's cut has always been precise, despite how shallow the cuts have been.

But even drips of water will eventually turn into an ocean. Those small and shallow cuts have stacked upon one another and eventually managed to cut through into the joints that kept the big guy standing.

Now, it can't escape.

Cane aimed correctly this time, and he shot a light beam powerful enough to destroy the eye.

ZING!!!!

"ROOAAAAA!!!!"

The minotaur screamed the moment it lost its left eye. It held the bleeding eye hole with its other hand while the right hand was still holding the blade.

"Yeah, how does that taste?"

Cane tried to smack talk the minotaur, but he immediately regrets it.

The minotaur lifted its right hand high, and suddenly threw its gigantic sword at him.

Cane was extremely shocked by that unexpected move, but he still managed to dodge the fast throw. The collision threw the ground devastated, causing Cane to lose balance. Plus, he lost a little bit of blood, and his head is filled with nausea.

Cane is down on the ground, while the minotaur moves in to regain its sword. But Fran used her lightning to stun the minotaur and quickly moved in. 

She enchanted the sword with a ton of magic energy and sliced the minotaur's thick head, but she missed and merely grazed the surface of the back neck.

"Damn it! That thing has some insane reflexes... Cane! How long are you going to sleep?!"

Cane slowly stood back up while trying to hold his consciousness together, and he lifted his hand to fire one last shot.

ZINGG!!!

"ROOOOOAAAAA!!!!"

Its right eye got completely blasted. The minotaur is now completely blind.

"Okay... up to you now."

Cane said as he fell to the ground, unconscious.

"I-Is he really sleeping???"

"No. Let's keep him there."

Rath asked, but I stopped him. Cane slept there for a reason.

"Tch! Leaving everything to the lady... How rude!"

Fran moved here and there like the lightning she is and caused some considerable damage to the minotaur. Without its eyes, the minotaur couldn't see where Fran is attacking, it ended up becoming insane and attacking everywhere.

Fran got slapped away from the random fist, and she got a slight nose bleed. Not just from the punch, but also from the exhaustion. She is pushing herself to the limits, but the minotaur is only a little bit closer to death. 

Before she jumps in and attacks again, she turns her teary eyes to me, but I formed an X with two of my fingers. 

I won't be helping at all, sorry.

She glared away to hide the disappointment on her face and attacked the minotaur again. This time, she moves a bit slower due to the fatigue.

She attacked the Minotaur's head, and she nearly got slapped away again. She brings in more cuts to some important areas, like the leg joints and neck. 

She managed to cut the leg joints, but the neck is thicker. At least now, the minotaur can't move much anymore.

So, it shouldn't be able to dodge.

"Cane! Any time now!"

While on the ground, Cane lifted his hand high, showing the powerfully condensed light ball at the size of a mug above his hand. 

ZIIIIINNNNGGGG!!!!!!

ZREGGG!!!!!!!!!

He shot the powerful light beam, and it penetrated the minotaur's brain completely. The skin that was previously capable of withstanding two blades owned by the two strongest adventurers, was pierced gruesomely by the powerful light blast.

King tier light magic. No one should ever underestimate its full power.

The minotaur's body fell with a thud to the ground, with a large burned hole in its head. 

The battle has been won.

Fran dropped her body to the ground from exhaustion. She took out a water bottle from inside her magic ring. After drinking it, a hand tapped on her shoulder.

She turned and found a hand holding a strawberry.

"It's strawberry. It's good to make funny faces."

She picked the strawberry from my hand and took a large bite. Her face turned squinted immediately, creating a hilarious face. I laughed loudly when I saw that.

After healing Fran from her wounds which isn't much, I went to Cane who is on the ground.

"You still have plenty of energy, and yet you got knocked out. How pathetic."

"Oh, shut up… You're not even in the battle."

"Hey, it was fun to watch."

I casted healing magic on his head, and the pain on his head quickly disappears, along with the nausea. Cane lifted his body to search for anymore pain, but looks like he is fine.

"Round two!!"

"It's dead, already."

"Ah..."

Cane stood up following me to everyone who was studying the minotaur's corpse.
