We checked the next houses on the list one by one, but I declined all of them. Some looked good, but too expensive and not exactly worth it. Some are really ugly and cheap, and other ones are just not my type.
We walked a little further into the housing complex and even went a little upwards into a little hill-like area. It was rather close to the center of the housing complex, so this was rather deep into the complex. The hill was also quite tall, and one can see the middle castle clearly from up here.
We arrived at a single two story mansion on the top of the hill. I can tell this one is expensive already, just by how it was placed rather spaced away from the other houses.
The closest house was at least twenty meters away, and that was like below the ledge at the backside of the house. This house is simply up here all by itself, and I can tell the previous owner was definitely a rich commoner, or even a noble.
"Five bedrooms with two on the first floor and three on the second. The single bathroom is on the first floor. Two carriages can fit on the front parking lot, and even has a grass park.
Not only that, this house also has a really wide backyard, along with a balcony on the back and front.
This house might be the best one on the list, but it is more expensive than the other ones."
Oh god… please don't be TOO expensive…
It looked nice on the outside, so I kinda do like this.
We went inside the gate to see better, and I am really surprised.
The front lawn is quite wide, and it might actually fit two carriages in the parking lot. The right and left side are filled with wild grass, but I could transform these into a garden easily. There are also two small gates on the left and right, which I guess probably leads to the backyard.
We entered the front door, and I was even more surprised.
Right after we entered, we arrived in what seemed to be the lobby or family room.
It is still quite empty, but I can tell there used to be couches and a table right in front of what seemed to be the fireplace.
There are the stairs that lead to the second floor, right on the left side of this lobby room. Right before the stairs, there's a door that leads to one of the bedrooms. On the other side of the room, right next to the fireplace, is also a door that leads to another bedroom.
There is a small opening on the back side of the room, and it leads to the kitchen and dining room. I went to the back to see the kitchen and dining room.
It is still very wide and empty, but my mind can imagine all the things I can put here. It is certainly wide for a kitchen and dining room, and I am quite glad.
There is a bathroom placed on the left side of the dining room. I didn't check it, because I'm scared of how ridiculously dirty bathrooms are after being left for so long.
There is also a door that leads to the backyard, right next to the kitchen on the right side of the dining room.
I'll check the backyard later. But first, the second floor.
I went up the stairs to check the second floor. There are wooden railings on the side of the path where you can look down to the bottom floor's lobby room.
The two bedrooms are placed on the left and right side of the second floor, on the front part of the house. The path to the second floor's bedrooms is only one and a half meters wide, with railings on the side.
So the second floor's bedrooms are exactly above the first floor's bedrooms… and finally, the fifth bedroom, that is right above the bathroom on the first floor.
Outside the fifth bedroom is just an empty opened room, almost like a second dining room. I can definitely use this empty room for something.
There is a door in the middle of the empty opened room that leads to the balcony. But, I am quite disappointed.
The balcony is… quite small.
It's only one meter wide and three meters long. The view is great, since this house is on top of a hill. But because the balcony is so small, you just can't sit down or place a chair. You can only stand on it, which sucks.
I will definitely change this. Maybe I can turn the empty open room behind me into a part of the balcony, to make the balcony somewhat larger. Or maybe even lengthened the balcony itself. Or even both.
I will definitely do something about this.
From the top of the balcony, I can see the backyard just fine. It is fifteen meters wide, and is simply a flat grassland. I don't want a garden as a backyard, so maybe I'll turn it into a rock solid ground.
Or… maybe a swimming pool?
From the balcony, I can see the rest of the kingdom very clearly. I can see the middle castle from here, since the house is facing towards the castle wall.
Thank goodness for the house being on top of a hill. This balcony is simply the perfect spot to just chill and enjoy the view. I just need to make it bigger.
There is also the attic, but I won't waste my time dealing with spiders or the likes.
After that little exploration, I went back inside to meet with the lady from the agency who was waiting outside. Now that I have checked the house, I have decided that I want this one.
"I'll take this one."
The lady looked quite surprised.
"Are you sure? This house is quite expensive. It is thirty two thousand Jules."
Gek!?
W-Well… it is technically still worth the price…
"... I'll still take it. Right now, I have twenty thousand. The rest can be paid later."
"I see. That is fantastic, then! Let us return to the office."
The two of us then left the house. I waited outside the front gate as she locked the door.
I just realized that they might have multiple keys for the house, so I might have to change the door and the door's lock.
She also locked the gate and approached me, who was waiting on the road. The two of us walked back to the office while talking about the house.
Apparently, no one has lived in the house for many years. It was too expensive since the last owner didn't set the price low. Actually, it was because he died, and the family needed some money.
And thanks to me, the family will have a ton of money now.
But thirty two thousand Jules… God damn.
I wonder how many more missions I will have to do in order to make twelve thousand more Jules…?
We arrived back at the agency office and I paid the first payment, which was twenty thousand Jules. After counting the amount of coins on a massive money counter tool that they owned, they confirmed the amount and returned me some extras that also went in the bag.
I simply placed all my money that I will use for buying a house in that bag. I didn't really count them except by memory.
Who would want to count a thousand pieces of coins?? Then again, they have that gigantic tool for that. I just never really go to the bank to do that, cause it's a hassle.
These people really needed paper money, didn't they?
After that, the lady from the agency suggested to me about some house furniture sellers that sell cheap in the kingdom. But since I don't have much money to buy furniture, I'll just keep them in mind.
For a few days, I'll stay in the inn until I have enough to pay some workers to patch up the house. Getting five thousand Jules for those extras can be done in just a week of Yellow ranked missions. Could be more if I can solo them, but that'd steal from the other adventurers, especially the high ranking ones.
It's not written, but it's like an agreement between high ranking adventurers that one shouldn't hog an entire blue or higher ranking mission, all by themselves. Because those missions don't come around that often, especially the White ranked missions.
So whether I like it or not, I will have to do Yellow ranked missions or higher with the team. I might be able to get away with Blue ranked missions alone, but taking Yellow ranked ones alone will make me look selfish.
After finishing off with the paperwork, they gave me the document of house ownership and I can finally leave.
It is already afternoon outside, and after receiving the payment from the Office, I can go around and check the furniture. The money should be paid tomorrow, so it won't be that long until I get some more money.
I went back to the inn and got changed, as well as cleaning up. Today, I spent 23 thousand Jules. Now I am pretty much broke, with only a thousand Jules left.
Seeing that it is still the afternoon and I still had quite the energy, I thought about doing a quick mission. I decided to head for the Office for a mission.
"Ah, Rize! The master wants to see you!"
Keila said to me as soon as I entered. The front desk is quite empty since all the adventurers are already out on their afternoon mission, so Keila and the new receptionist girl are having a free time.
Hearing that I have to go and meet that stiff bastard, I let out a sigh.
"F-For reals…??"
I've been avoiding him all this time, ever since I returned. And since he never really looked for me, I just never met him.
And here I was thinking about doing a quick mission…
I turned to the stairs, leaving Keila and the new receptionist girl talking. I can hear using my super hearings that I became a topic to them.
