Chapter CLXXXVII - Sneaking In (part 2)

"Remember the famous gray ranked double dungeon incident where the masked man first showed up and saved everyone? That was her."

"And remember on Veldonia when the sun's collapse happened? That was also her."

"Oh, and don't forget the bullying on Veldonia's rankers and king that happened recently. The thing that caused the war to stop with Veldonia, and even changed their system to a republic... That was all… her."

Valon and Hod take turns in explaining while I simply grinned to the general.

"W-Wha… So she is… the masked devil?"

I took out an item and placed it on my face.

"Do I really look that scary?"

The mask still had a ton of blood on it, since I didn't get to clean it up. I quickly put it back inside while grinning softly at both Hod and Valon, and the two only sighed hard.

Meanwhile, the general is amazed.

"So we had this amazing person in our midst the whole time!? Why aren't you with the Axelons!?"

"Believe me, I tried. But the king goes 'Mheee! You are needed here!! Go Heal! Heal, I say!!'."

Listening to me mocking the king made the general laugh. He is very old, but he is more energetic than Hod, at least.

"Very interesting!! Then, you will be our last line of defense."

"That is indeed the plan. But, let's just see. If the Axelons made it by defeating the demon king, then I won't have to act at all."

I continued listening to the device, and then realized something. I turned to Valon and quickly suggested.

"Can we put this on speaker outside?"

.

"Currently we are on top of a hill, very close to the demon kingdom's capital. I have no clue what the name is--"

"There is no name."

"What was that Fran?"

"I said there is no name for the capital."

"Oh… Well, there you have it folks. The unnamed capital owned by the demon kingdom!"

Cane spoke to the device like an actual commentator. Apparently, he is very good at doing it.

The generals decided to let the soldiers on the middle base listen to this like a podcast. They placed a speaker on the device, and placed the speaker up really high. Everyone sat around the area as they listened to the commentary by Cane.

Since the battle was over and the demon base was taken care of, most of the personnel at the base had nothing to do. The ones scouting the demon base are mostly done by the scout division, and the main combatants division can only sit around and do nothing at the middle base.

So, we hooked it up to a speaker, and everyone can listen in.

"This is much better to listen to, actually."

Valon said to me, and I chuckled.

Back in my world, we have radios... They don't really have any here.

Entertainment is really lacking in this world, huh? Good thing Cane had a talent for this kind of thing.

We all continued listening to Cane as the Axelons slowly entered the secret path that led towards the center, which is the Demon king's tower.

Their main goal is to assassinate the demon king, and then run away as quickly as possible before encountering the demon squadrons. Because if they fought the demon squadron before fighting the king, they won't be able to fight him at full strength.

Cane and the other Axelons entered the dark alley that goes under the ground, all the way connecting the middle castle.

The path was dug by a spy sent by the humans to the demon kingdom. They worked really hard making this path.

"Here we are, the dark underground path... Oh god, the air sucked here!"

"Stop talking nonsense, Cane. At least if you want to keep the air breathable."

Arfius said while walking in front of Cane, and Cane snorted.

"Can't you like, flow the air using your wind magic? At least it will make this place breathable."

"Why would I spend my energy on dumb stuff like that?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, but in case you didn't notice, the air here is really damn thin!"

Hearing the Axelons socializing with each other like this made everyone really entertained. Even the kings and queens in the castle laugh when Arfius and Cane quarrels.

For a while, Cane stopped talking. He must have felt the air quite thin, and he wants to save the air by stopping talking completely. Before long, Arfius began to mumble.

"You know… maybe bringing in some air isn't a bad idea--"

"Don't do that. If you do that, the demon people above ground can detect the flow of magic that you are using."

"Oh, right. Sorry, dad."

The arch-mage said to Arfius. Hearing the arch-mage's heavy voice, everyone from Mazino quickly questioned who that was because they had never heard his voice before. The mages from Xyphon then explained to them that it actually belonged to their great arch-mage, with pride of course.

Julius does have a good voice for an old man…

After walking for thirty minutes, the Axelons finally arrived at the end of the long hall. They tried sensing a presence above the hatch, but they found no one near them. The headmaster opened the hatch that leads to the room above and quickly moved up.

They arrived in some sort of a kitchen. This must be the middle castle's kitchen. The spy must have been working as a cook the entire time.

After all the Axelons exited the underground path, they all quickly tried breathing again. Thirty minutes of barely no air, and they finally felt air.

"Okay. We are all inside the tower, and we finally can breathe. We arrived in some sort of… kitchen, inside this middle castle. Luckily there's no one here."

Cane whispered while looking around the room, and everyone else was still going up the ladder. After everyone was out, they closed the hatch and hid it with the towel.

"Okay. Proceed as planned. Look for the king, then call the others. We'll defeat him before the squadrons arrive to help."

The arch-mage said to the other Axelons, and they all nodded before splitting up into groups. Every time they met a demon knight, the demon knight fell to the ground easily.

One by one, they went up the floors and looked around the entire building. Since the tower is tall, the number of the guardian knights aren't so less. But in the eyes of the powerful Axelons, they are nothing.

But surprisingly… there aren't that many guards.

"Did you notice?"

Fran asked Cane, and Cane nodded.

"Yeah. There aren't that many guards here."

Not that many guards…?

I became really curious, but there is only one meaning to it. Next to me, a man can be heard clicking his tongue angrily.

I turned to Valon and noticed his annoyed and worried expression.

"They were expecting us."

I turned to shock immediately, and quickly became super curious for more information out the radio.

Please… be careful. Cane, Fran.

Cane and Fran continued their search and arrived on a large wooden door that is at least three meters tall. The two knew that this place might be quite important, so they approached it together.

The two slowly opened the door and looked inside.

Immediately, the two froze on the spot. A single man is standing next to the king-sized bed in the middle of the room. There is no one else in this room but this man, and he does not look simple.

He is wearing a long feathery black cape on the back of his black obsidian armour. His long sword is sheathed on the left side of his hips on its scabbard. His helmet had six holes on them, all with six red glasses covering the eyes as if he had six eyes. There is a beautiful golden crown that is placed around his helmet, decorating the long black horn above his forehead.

The man turned around to face the two that had entered his room, and both adventurers quickly lost their ability to think.

His pressure… is immense!
