52. They Will Pay

Steam came out from the Armored Titan as it was struggling to get up.

Siegfried gazed at it for a few moments before moving back a few steps to get a running start. He charged at the fallen Titan and kicked it in the torso sending it crashing against a bunch of buildings.

He suddenly heard a loud sound of lightning that made him weary.

Sieg put his arms up in a defensive block as he sensed something. And he was right in doing so as he blocked a powerful kick which sent him skidding along the ground.

After Siegfried came to a halt , he took in the new foe and it was Titan with a female form.

Siegfried was a bit surprised but didn't care , 1 or 2 it's the same to him. He was going to tear them apart either way.

But to his utter astonishment both the Armored Titan and Female looking Titan didn't bother to fight with him but just started running away.

'Huh?' Siegfried watched confused as they retreated , he didn't bother chasing them as it could be a trap and he still didn't know where the Giant Titan was.

He was strong but not invincible and he was still worried about Carla , and she was more important than anything else.

Siegfried watched them go as he turned around and walked to a large building and lay prone on the ground before coming out of his Titan.

" Haaah!" Siegfried let out a loud sigh as he felt the Titan flesh Still connected to him, the hot steam was surrounding his body as he just felt slight discomfort.

But he didn't dawdle as he decided to look for some survivors or atleast the dead bodies of the Scout members while at the same time cleaning out the Titans in Shiganshina.

Atleast he would have an Alibi , or he could just manipulate everyones memories.

But he just didn't feel like doing it , it was just that simple.

If he didn't want to do it then he wouldn't do it. Just because he could mind control someone doesn't mean he would do it.

Might sound stupid form the view point of a perfectionist but he really couldn't give a damn.

He was going to live the way he wanted without being concerned about anything else.

It was his life and he would live like he wants this time.....

Siegfried carried an injured Scout regiment member on his back as he climbed on top of the wall with the help of his gear.

The man had his legs crushed beyond repair , Siegfried felt bad for the guy but atleast he would live.

Siegfried gazed down at Shiganshina which was destroyed and littered with steaming Titan corpses.

Marley will pay ... That much he was sure of.....

After reuniting with the Scout members Siegfried let the injured man get immediate medical attention while he recounted what he saw.

He told them everything form the standpoint of a bystander.

No one doubted him since he was a Team Leader and there was nothing too suspicious since he did save an injured man and took care of all the Titans in Shiganshina.

Siegfried wanted to rush to Carla but he patiently waited for the Boat to reach the destination.

He didn't know if Carla would behave differently when she saw him again... He hoped not.....

....

It took a few hours but Siegfried finally came to the refugee camp and after looking around for a bit he was able to find Carla , Eren , Mikasa and their friend Armin.

" Teacher! "

" Uncle "

Eren and Mikasa shouted in happiness and relief as they ran towards him.

Siegfried had a fond smile on his face as he bent down to hug them while he gazed at Carla who also smiled at him gently before blushing and looking away.

Siegfried also understood her predicament as he could imagine the shame she should be feeling now.

Siegfried also sighed heavily in his mind as he decided to confide in Carla , he felt she deserves to know what happened with Grisha.

And he was even willing to tell her the truth , he didn't feel there was any need to conceal the truth.

If he couldn't even trust her then what was the point of him staying inside these walls , he could just go to Marley and mind control the higher ups.

If he couldn't even trust the woman he loves then who should he trust...

( He does love her but was holding back due to guilt )

Siegfried rested his back against a wall as Mikasa was sleeping with her head on his lap while Carla leaned her head on his shoulder with a content expression while he hugged her.

The children went to sleep quickly as today's events were truly exhausting.

" Sieg.." Siegfried who was deep in thought suddenly heard Carla's hesitant voice.

"Hmm?" Siegfried hummed in response as he tightened his hug over her reassuring her.

" Do you think what I am doing is right ? I feel guilty whenever I think of Grisha " Carla's voice trembled as Siegfried could feel some tears wetting his shoulder.

" I do not care about what is right... or what is wrong .... All I know is that I love you ... And I will share this burden with you ..." Siegfried said in a gentle voice as he kissed the top of her head.

He was planning on telling her everything after things settled down a bit .... Atleast it would lessen her guilt a bit...
