60. Dream

He dreamed of a world free from Titans and he would make sure that would happen.

He wished to be just like his uncle, to bring hope to his comrades and the citizens.

The man was akin to a hero for a reason.....

Eren and his company quickly got into line as all the recruits stood in lines , filled with excitement , nervousness and all kinds of emotions.

All of them had different reasons to join the Survey corps but all of them wished to put an end to this senseless war between the man eating monsters.

Suddenly gasps and murmurs rang out from among the crowd as an imposing figure stepped into the podium in front of the recruits.

"W-Wow it's really him!"

" My god! He looks even more handsome in person~ "

"...."

All kinds of murmurs rang among the recruits as some of them were nervous while others were excited.

"U-Uncle " Eren was bewildered as he saw his step dad at his first day at the training camp.

He would be lying if he said he wasn't pleased but turning his gaze to Mikasa , Eren doubted whether this stingy old man came for him or for his student.

Eren shook his head dispelling the negative thoughts, he would more than likely get pissed if he thought any more , better to stay positive on such a good occasion.....

The murmurs died down as everyone stood at attention as Siegfried gazed at them silently and after moving his gaze over every recruit he decided to address the crowd.

" I believe each and every one of you present here has their own reasons for joining the Scouts " Siegfried knew many joined the Scouts regiment for their own personal reasons and most of them should have their own stories or tragedies.

" I will not lie to you and tell you that all of you will become heroes ..... Death is a constant in the life of a Scout regiment member and you may end up questioning your reason for joining this cursed profession while at the end of your life. So I won't blame anyone for wanting to leave now ...." Siegfried said slowly as he waited a few moments causing a few recruits to walk away in shame and dejection.

Siegfried didn't feel there was anything shameful about valuing your survival or being afraid.

He would not look down on someone for not having the courage to join this dangerous organisation , he won't force anyone and his reasons for joining the Scouts regiment and doing all of this was purely selfish.

" For the ones who stayed , whatever may be your reason for joining your purpose is only one from now on .... The salvation of humanity , a life beyond the walls . " Siegfried said slowly as he could see the hope in the eyes of the ones who stayed behind.

"To bring an end to this war between Titans and humans that is the goal of the Scouts and it would be yours from now on forth!" Siegfried said with conviction as he placed his arm on his chest in a salute which was quickly followed up by the recruits.

" Tell me! Are you willing ?! "

"Yes!"

" Louder!"

" Yes!" Loud thundering corrus of yes's came out from the crowd making Siegfried feel that his pep talk was useful in riling up the recruits.

These kids were joining an organisation that had very high mortality rates and some of them would perish but he would try his best to bring down Marley before any of them have to die.

That was the least he could. Even if the dead Scouts couldn't become heroes their sacrifices would be never forgotten.

Eldian empire will rise even if it's under his rule he would make sure to crush every other resistance and if it doesn't work then there is always the option of stomping all life beyond Paradise out ....

'Would that thin strand of Royal bloodline be enough to access the powers of the founding Titan ?' Siegfried asked Eve as he had left the recruits to go to his office.

'Affirmative , such thin bloodline is all you need to tap into the founders power' Eve's mechanical voice came from inside his mind reassuring him.

Siegfried was still surprised by the capability of Eve. When he devoured Grisha he was able to devour the power of the founder and attack titan , along with it when Grisha's titan ate Frieda he somehow gained a very minute amount of Royal bloodline.

It was so minute that it wouldn't have made a difference to anyone but it was different for him who could devour and absorb bloodlines and powers.

Eve had been synthesizing the minimal Royal bloodline for the past 5 years and it was somewhat complete.

The reason for such a long time was the miniscule amount of the bloodline.

Devouring a Royal family member would solve this problem but Siegfried refrained from doing so as he didn't want to completely eradicate the Royal family as he had no grudges with them.

Yes , he disliked them for their inaction, even despised them but he still had his messed up principles that would prevent him from becoming a selfish tyrant.

But he really did wish the King of the walls would try something so he could kill him without any remorse.

Eve was good for reconnaissance so he had already found out the identity of the King of the walls by tailing and investigating many major nobles and officials...
