.....
Morgan just wanted Artoria gone.
She didn't want to share her husband's love with anyone other than herself.
He was one of the few things in her life that kept her sane, and her dear little sister even wanted to take that away from her.
Her mother, her father, The throne that should belong to her, and now even her husband...
Artoria has always taken things from her, and her resentment and jealousy reached a boiling point until she went crazy.
Morgan was sure she wasn't sane any more.... Maybe she was already insane, to begin with.....
...
Footsteps resounded in the clearing as winds blew, carrying the scent of flowers and blood.
A blonde-haired woman wearing Armor stepped into the clearing and took in the scene before her.
"Are you here to get rid of me? My dear sister ~ " Morgan's voice contained sarcasm and spite as she glared at the woman she hated most.
"No..." Artoria answered curtly, moving her gaze from Morgan to Siegfried, who was lying in Morgan's arms with a peaceful smile.
"No?! .... Hahaha! Are you pitying me ? " Morgan nearly growled as she started laughing like she was insane ( she is ) ...
".... " Artoria didn't react to her provocation as her calm gaze was answer enough.
Morgan clicked her tongue as she moved her bitter gaze away from Artoria.
Morgan turned her gaze to the peaceful visage of her husband as she leaned down to place a gentle kiss on his bloodied lips, as she hugged his body firmly before leaning back against the tree more and closing her eyes.
She took a good look at the peaceful sky, the last vision her husband saw as she had decided to rest seeing the last thing he saw.
But Morgan didn't know her husband had seen her as his last vision, she would never know and would never be able to replicate it.
...
*Thud!*
With a soft thud, Excalibur was dropped to the ground.
Artoria's visage was emotionless, or at least it seemed like it.
She believed herself to be calm and cold.
But the pounding of her heart and the tearing pain were enough to prove to her that she wasn't as calm as she thought herself to be.
She had used the Holy Lance, knowing the side effects would make her less human. She was becoming more calculative, rational, and calm.
The more she used the Holy Lance, the more she felt herself becoming increasingly emotionless. She was becoming stronger at the price of her humanity.
Even knowing she would end up becoming something she couldn't accept, she kept on using the Holy Lance.
Because suppressing her emotions helped her with the pain.
After spending a year with him, Artoria thought she could let go of Siegfried. But it seems she had overestimated herself as she didn't attend her sister's wedding because Artoria feared she might cause a scene.
Artoria was neither a cuck nor a masochist, as she didn't want to see her lover being in the arms of another woman.
What stung more was that she was responsible for her current predicament.
She could have had Siegfried all to herself if she wanted to, but ultimately, her so-called duty was more important.
"Heh~" Artoria let a self-deprecating laugh as her eyes were a bit blurry and her cheeks felt wet.
It seemed her solution wasn't as helpful as she thought because the pain she was feeling right now was much more than the one Artoria felt when her heart was torn out.....
....
Artoria had a sad smile on her face as tears continued to flow out of her eyes as she knelt in front of the corpses of her sister and lover.
Morgan had taken her life, and it seemed she loved Siegfried no less than her maybe even more.
Artoria didn't hate Morgan for trying to kill her but resented her for what happened with Siegfried because if Morgan had done nothing, then Siegfried would still be alive.
Artoria would swap roles with Morgan in a heartbeat, so she couldn't fathom why her sister was so obsessed with the throne.
"You gave your heart to me... But I really don't deserve it." Artoria meant this figuratively and literally. He had loved her so much that just thinking about it made her suffocate.
If she could go back in time, she would drop everything and elope with him to live a life with only him....
...
Artoria checked Morgan's palm, and she found a vial of transparent liquid, which she could only guess was the substance she used to take her life.
"I can't just let her be the only one to accompany you, can I? " Artoria said to herself with a smile as she downed the contents of the vial in one gulp.
Pain..... Searing pain as if she was being burned was what Artoria experienced. Still, she didn't care because this pain was nothing compared to what her heart was feeling.
Artoria sat beside Morgan, placing the rest of Siegfried's body on her lap while letting Morgan lean on her shoulder.
Morgan was still her big sister, and she had fond memories of her.
Maybe, if things were a bit different, it wouldn't have ended in such a tragedy. ...
....
Artoria and Morgan are about the same in their feelings for Siegfried because both of them loved him to the point of obsession but couldn't let go of their obsessions for him.
Artoria had her duty , and Morgan with her hatred.
