Twenty One

It has been three days since Xyan pledged and vowed to be Historia's personal knight. Historia assigned him an immediate mission: investigate the two, Duchess Quinn and Admarine. She wanted to know what they were up to and who their allies were. She had a strange feeling about them, especially after seeing them at the library. Historia also told Duke Darcus that she wanted Xyan to be her personal knight, which surprised him.

He believes there are many more good knights than Xyan. They have powerful knights in their place of residence, so why would Historia choose Xyan? That's what the Duke thought. Historia ignored what her father said and instead told him to let her choose what she wanted, acting childishly in front of him. The Duke sighed deeply and allowed her to do so.

"I don't know what I can do to make Historia mature," the Duke said, massaging his head. The butler Dante laughed, causing the Duke to look at him.

"It might not be obvious, My Lord, but the Lady has quite changed; sometimes she acts like a child, but when you observe her, the Lady has completely changed," Dante says, drawing The Duke's gaze downward. He felt guilty because he hadn't paid any attention to Historia, which is why he was unaware of her changes.

"I am always observing the lady if I get a chance to look at her, the way she looks and the way she acts sometimes looks like a dangerous young lady, My Lord. She is knowledgeable but she doesn't want to show it to everyone. She is trying to show what the rumors are saying about her," Dante said while standing up straight in front of the Duke.

"Is that so?" Duke Darcus asked, deep in thought about her daughter.

Historia asks her brother Redam if they also invited the Brimrock to the celebration, and he tells her that they did, but they did not accept the invitation. The Brimrock family is known as introverts, and they do not like to go to any kind of celebration except for the Emperor's orders. While talking to her brother, Redam keeps on saying sorry to her, thinking that Historia is still mad at her, which keeps Historia hugging and reassuring her brother that their relationship is fine just like before.

"Brother Redam is much like a childish one than me. Maybe we get this kind of personality from our mother? I looked at the portrait and I really looked like her. She's very beautiful and you can really tell that she's a cheerful person. Maybe that is why Father loves her so much," Historia said with a smile as she recalled the picture she saw.

While she was staring at the portrait, Dante suddenly stood beside her and told her everything about their parents' relationship. The Duke is a very cold-hearted person, whereas their mother is always cheerful and optimistic. She is kind and intelligent, which makes the Duke fall in love with her.

Historia was writing a letter of invitation to the Brimrock Family. She wanted to invite them personally, using words that would pique their interest in her. Of course, Historia is aware of Brimrock's interest in the Hesthburg. "Sally," Historia addressed her after placing their family's symbol.

"Yes, My Lady?" she responded, quickly moving to stand beside the ladyship.

"Take this letter personally to the Brimrock family without the two noticing it. Can you do it?" she asks, reaching for the envelope with the letter and giving it to Sally. "It is an important letter, Sally. Keep it as if your life will depend on this letter. I don't want anyone to read it except me and the Brimrock, do you understand?" Historia went on to say. Sally immediately understood her and responded by nodding her head. She quickly went outside to obey Historia's orders.

She then leaned back against the back of her chair and stretched her arms, feeling muscle fatigue from writing the message. "When will they be able to invent a pen-like in the modern world, huh?" she asked herself, letting out a heavy sigh.

Typhis awoke moments later from a nap in his own bed. Quickly transforms himself into a human and slowly walks towards Historia. "Hey, what are you gonna do now?" he asks, leaning his hips against the table.

"Hey, Typhis. What if Lady Vivian was able to summon spirits? And the missing piece they were talking about before like you mentioned is a person from the Hesthburg family that can be able to summon spirit? The Zendravels might be the strongest wielder of elements as they can use the celestial magic, however, the wielder of an element cannot beat against someone who can summon spirits," Historia told him. This made him think about it a little bit.

"If she is, I can detect it if I ever saw her around; however, before you think about it, train yourself for the future's battle, you punk," Typhis said, flicking his finger in Historia's forehead, causing her to moan in pain.

"You b.tch. Why did you flick my forehead!" she yells and glares at him, but Typhis simply smirks.

"Practice using your power; I see you have some mana and you just need to train yourself," Typhis says, causing Historia to widen her eyes in surprise.

"I have? They told me that I am born without magic or even an ounce of mana," Historia responded, raising Typhis' eyebrows. Before he could speak a reply, someone knocked on the door, and Xyan introduced himself. Historia lets him in and is surprised to see Typhis in front of him.

"Never mind this man; we can trust him," Historia explained as she noticed Xyan's eyes looking at her with a puzzled expression, trying to find an answer about Typhis. Typhis just looks at him fiercely, making Xyan uncomfortable, and walks closer to them.

"My lady, I have found something about your stepmother and stepsister, Lady Admarine," Xyan said, handing her the evidence that was inside the envelope. "Duchess Quinn and Lady Admarine are affiliated with Lady Vivian's Hesthburg. They are planning to kill you and the Duke, My Lady." Historia's eyes began to darken after what she heard.
