CHAPTER 8
Troy steel pov
Pacing in the hospital waiting room , waiting for any answers what's taking them damn long
I wish I could do something an hour has passed already but no answers yet
" Mr steel " a female nurse calls me startled by her presence however much I was waiting for this moment hope it's good news placing shoes before my feet then reality hits me that Iam half naked , barefooted , people are staring at me and lastly my toe is killing me
" Mr steel dr Emma has sent me to help you clean up ," the nurse stares shyly at my bare chest
" how is she doing "
" dr Emma will be out in a few minutes " she says as she stares at her watch .
Giving up because I really need to get dressed or something coz of these stares
Following behind her she leads me to room probably a private ward
" I hope you don't mind I dress some of your wounds Mr steel.." still staring shyly and a little bit scared
" I don't mind but let me first shower first and help call my secretary let her bring me some clothes " I say looking myself in the mirror seeing all myself almost painted in red I wonder what people thought of me when I was in the waiting for almost an hour looking like this am quite known a deceased mayors son who wouldn't know me half this town built by my ancestors including this hospital by my father and the town was named by one of my ancestors
Without further conversation she leaves immediately she closes the door behind her i rush to the bathroom
After my warm shower wear a hospital bathrobe probably that was prepared for me already , I find the nurse waiting to treat me my toe is still bleeding and cuts hurt like hell but before anything I need to know how she's doing " how is she , is she awake "
" not yet awake sir but the surgery was successful "
Sighing in relief I roll off the robe leaving it to cover my lower body the nurse bats her eyes a little sign of blushing places the tray with everything on the bed She starts cleaning cuts on my chest with a swab , breathing heavily i sigh out loudly due to exhaustion, she is startled , knocks the tray to the floor everything scattering on the flour
" am so Mr steel , am so sorry " as she picks up the medicine
Shit I don't have time for this drama Standing up and walking past her through the door to the reception
" hey u either get me a man or I will make sure the bitch you sent me is fired "
Startled by my loud voice the nurse receiptionist quickly calls for a male nurse
My day is already is shitty I don't need any other shit not getting my way
" its okay Lilly I will take care of him " looking behind me and I notice it's Emma
" follow me , please don't ruin my peoples peace because of youur temper" he says pushing me away from the reception, calmly walking past me as i follow behind him he walks me directly to try the room I was in.
" Emma is she awake or not coz am about to loose my mind "
" sit down atleast I stop the blood from your toe"
" oh shit I forgot about that "
He quietly kneels down and cleans the wound it quite painful wincing in pain
" who is she " Emma asks after wrapping my toe on my left foot with a bandage
I seriously don't know and am not sure how I will explain
" are you hiding women in that cave you call a house , Troy "
Still thinking of the right answer lying won't help only the truth will make things easier
" will you believe me when I say I don't know her , shit she was in trap I set myself in the woods naked laying there in a pool of her own blood wailing I found her shit emmm shit " I say angrily, am known for my fury probably that's why the nurse was so scared around me
I just hate unexpected things
" calm down and tell me everything " Emma says as he sits before me
" that's it emm she was in the woods , I always go for my runs you know I heard a scream then saw her foot trapped in a iron jaw , I think it's All my fault "
" yes it is your fault but first let's wait for her to wake up and probably answer what's was she doing in the woods naked I mean have you seen that beauty Troy"
We both burst into laughter because of the reality of it she is beautiful so beautiful she illuminates everything
" I mean all the male nurses well alll in there wanting to work on her at the same time scared that she belongs to Mr Troy steel "
I still laugh slightly it's very rare to see me laugh only in his company one good old friend we have been friends for forever his the only one comfortable with my gloomy nature everyone else prefers happy people but with him he gets me like i get him wen am in need of my space he won't burge he also helps me get away from the control of the name Steel , it's suffocating everyone expecting you to be the next mayor because your ancestors were all mayors , they don't know the burden of it all I guess that's why the steels are almost extinct leaving only three existing steels.
my secretary who probably didn't like it calling for her yet I had given her a day off but she will never say so probably because she is trained to just obey handing me clothes then she immediately excuses herself damn sometimes I wonder wether she cares all for her boss but I like her she never acts friendly entice unnecessary conversations , avoids me as much as she can we are simply boss and employee probably that's why she has worked for me for more than 5 years now
Emma laughs as we head down to the cafeteria , its already midnight and am tired the past hours she just turned , rolled as if asleep and all I did was just watched her as I sat beside her
" you look at her like a prize " Emma teases ,as we are handed to Coffee cups which exactly I need ,
" in your dreams " I say walking fast so that he ends his topic
" you know I know you more than my one in this town , that the look of you in love "
I stand still and watch him with fury there are something s we are not supposed to speak about even if we are friends , I walk past his table his seated and sit on the next empty table
He laughs loudly getting attention from a few visitors or caretakers of the hospital who are still around he comes up to my table and pats my shoulder ignoring him and simply sipping my coffee
He says " am sorry man " sitting on the other seat pulls it closer rubs my shoulder " you know at some point we shall need to talk about

Pulling away my shoulder before I say anything a nurse shouts " dr Emma we need you she is awake "
On hearing that we both rush to her room seeing her screaming as she tries to get off the bed this time very pale and blue
" emmms what's happening " I say as I try to pin her down when I look her in the eyes I see fear the blue eyes show fear and hatred and confusion at the same time pain I scream at Emma to do something to help her.
He quickly gives orders to the nurses to work with him while I hover over her to pin her on the bed and not hurt her leg or something male nurses rush in pushing me off her as I stand stare at this horror I thought she will be ok I don't even know her but I want her to get better
" I need you to leave Troy let me do my job here" pushing me towards the door forcing myself to look behind I give up as I see her eyes turn white closing the door behind me
It takes hours I just see nurses pacing to and from whenever I ask no one answers ,
Banging at the door to tell me what's going on Emma rushes of the room passing past me as if am invisible looking back " why are you standing there follow me we need your blood right away the good thing I know your blood type "
Simply following because I will do anything and everything so that they can help her
" what's happening Emma "
I ask as I fold my sleeves So that the nurse can take out blood
" she just lost a lot of blood and we didn't see that as she was havin surgery she will be fine don't worry "
" she will be fine right" I wince as the nurse takes out blood .
He chuckles and says "she will fine just the blood is enough"
He helps stop the bleeding then rushes out i follow as well closely behind him probably to let me see her when he goes back to her room
On the door " you know you can't come in man"
" why not man "
" just rules so stay behind "
I can't do anything besides wait he goes in as I stay behind waiting
It's takes hours just watching nurses move in and out not and still no answers on how she is doing
Then at last Emma moves looking exhausted like me I have been in the hospital for almost two days now it's coming to morning and I can't do anything else I couldn't leave this spot The pressure of waiting for someone whose life is in danger because of you. Keeps you on your toes
" she will be fine please don't kill me with questions am so exhausted literally " he says as am trying to ask more questions indeed we are all exhausted and we need some rest truly
But I can't rest until I know she is awake and very fine besides sleep isn't something that comes to me often when it does I just get nightmares
" look follow me I will give you something by the time we wake she will also be awake
" I really need to see her though " I plead desperately but I just want to make sure she doesn't look blue like how she looked
" trust me seeing her won't solve anything besides it's best to her when she's awake " Emma reassures me
I simply walk with him to the hospital rest rooms he gives me some sleeping pills to help me sleep literally need it .
" save him please his only a child " a woman screams and I wake up catching my breathe I breathe in and out to relax myself
This time my nightmare is different looking around and I notice it's already daytime And emma is already out I guess he left me to sleep because I needed it.
I shower pick out the clothes on the bed that Emma slept on checking on the time it's already midday someone knocks on the door
" yes please come in"
" Mr steel , doctor has requested for you to the patients room"
Reaching by the door getting a little scared I enter Emma and the two nurses stare at me I quickly look at the patient whose eyes are open and Iam glad but the faces in hear are not happy.
" please excuse us " Emma orders they quietly leave the room
" Heyy" I address the patient whose just staring blankly at me and the surroundings
" she won't talk she is into shock probably lost her memories"
" what do you mean emma you said she is okay"
" am just a doctor the rest are for the creator "
" she woke up screaming not saying a word just screaming she is probably confused we have sedated her now "
" Emmm we should call the police probably ask for her people "
