27. Moving 2

After about two hours of driving, the group stopped at a petrol station. Axel drove the Range Rover closer to the pump while John got out of the car. Felix and Maxwell parked the RV right next to the pump.

"Axel, I'm going to the shop to get something while I'm filling up. Do you want anything?" John asked.

Axel said, "No thanks, John. I'll fill up the car," he said and picked up the petrol pump.

John walked to the small shop inside the station. When he opened the door and walked in, the shelves were lined with a variety of snacks, drinks and daily necessities. He grabbed a couple of bottles of water, some snacks and energy drinks from the shelf. As she made her way towards the exit, her eyes fell on the magazines on the shelves. Out of old habit, he picked up a magazine and headed for the checkout.

The cashier smiled at John and said, "Good morning, sir. Going on a long trip?"

John smiled politely and replied, "Yes, we are going on an adventure with some old friends.

The cashier said, "Have a good trip. Don't forget the magazine," and John took it and walked out.

Meanwhile Axel had filled up the Range Rover and was waiting for John. Felix and Maxwell were also chatting as they filled up the RV.

John walked back to the vehicle with his belongings and put them on the back seat. "Let's take our time, let's get going."

"We're ready," Axel replied and got back behind the wheel. John sat back down and started the car.

Just then Felix saw the magazine in John's hand as he returned from shopping. "Well, well, John! What did you buy?" he asked in a mocking tone. John picked up the magazine and read the cover. "A gardening magazine? Or are you a secret gardener?" he laughed.

John said, slightly annoyed, "Is there anything wrong with reading about gardening? Besides, it might be more useful than your silly art stuff," he grumbled.

Felix ignored John's reaction and continued sneering, "Sure, maybe we'll garden after the war.

John, getting a little grumpier, said, "Felix, that's enough. I'm not messing with you either."

Axel, laughing a little to lighten the mood, said, "OK, boys. Everybody get back in the car. We've wasted enough time already."

Felix, still smiling as he walked back to the caravan, said, "OK, OK. John the gardener," he muttered.

As Axel and John got back into the Range Rover, John nervously took the wheel. "These guys are really annoying sometimes," he muttered.

"They love you too, John," Axel said, watching John's behaviour with a practiced expression.

As Axel and John got back into the Range Rover, John nervously took the wheel. "These kids are really annoying sometimes," he muttered.

"They love you too, John," Axel said, watching John's behaviour with a practiced expression.

"Yes, son, I know," John said, nodding slightly and gripping the wheel tightly. He started the engine again and the car began to move slowly. Felix and Maxwell returned to the caravan and started the engine. The group was back on the road.

As the Range Rover and RV moved at a leisurely pace the rest of the way, the scenery on the road changed. The trees grew thicker, the air cooler and the road narrower. Mist hung lightly over the forest road, adding an air of mystery to the journey.

After a while, Felix's RV began to pick up speed. John noticed the RV speeding up in the rear view mirror and frowned. "What's that kid doing?" he muttered.

The RV quickly passed the Range Rover and pulled ahead. John gripped the steering wheel tighter in anger. "Felix! What are you doing? Don't drive so fast!" he shouted.

Axel, trying to calm John's anger, said, "John, calm down. Felix is just having a bit of fun," Axel said.

John said angrily, "You can't drive too fast on this road! Felix, slow down!" he shouted again.

Felix's laughter could be heard from the caravan in front. Maxwell turned to Felix and said, "I think you upset John," laughing.

Felix, shifting slightly, said, "Let's have some fun. It's fun when John gets angry," he said.

"These kids are driving me crazy," John muttered, trying to control his anger.

Just then, in the rear-view mirror, they could hear the sirens of a police car approaching fast. The police car was fast approaching the motorhome and the sirens echoed across the road.

"Well, now we're in for it," John grumbled, frowning even more when he heard the police siren. The police car signalled for the caravan to stop and Felix had to pull over quickly to the side of the road.

The policeman got out of his car and walked over to the RV. As Felix rolled down the window, the policeman said in a stern voice, "Hello. I have stopped you for speeding, could you please show me your licence and registration?"

"Sorry, Officer, we were in a bit of a hurry," Felix said as he handed over his licence and registration. The policeman took the documents and went back to check them.

John tapped the wheel angrily. "Felix, this kid is really going to get us in trouble!" he growled.

Axel tried to calm John down, "John, everything's going to be fine. Just calm down," he said.

After a while the policeman returned and handed Felix his papers. "Exceeding the speed limit is a serious offence. That's why I'm going to have to write you a ticket," he said as he started to fill in the form.

"I understand, officer, it won't happen again," Felix said, a little embarrassed.

The policeman handed him the ticket and said, "This time I'm giving you a ticket, please drive carefully and keep to the speed limit. Felix took the ticket and thanked him.

Felix started the car again and drove off. "Axel, don't give that idiot any money, let him find it himself," John grumbled angrily, gripping the steering wheel.

Axel smiled slightly and said, "OK John, it's all right. Let's get on with it," he said.

After another hour or so of driving the group finally reached the entrance to Forks. By the time they reached the entrance to the town on the forest road, the fog had lifted a little and the air was clearer. A roadside sign greeted them with the words "Welcome to Forks".

As John drove into the town centre, the streets and buildings looked familiar. "It's been a long time," he muttered to himself.
