Garette looked at her, his eyes softening with understanding. He cupped her face in his hands, his thumbs brushing away the remnants of her tears. "Hey, it's okay. I wasn't planning on sleeping with you tonight. I don't want to rush anything. I just want to be close to you."

He smiled and leaned in to kiss her forehead. "We've got all the time in the world. Let's just enjoy being together right now."

They settled back onto the couch, Dyanne nestled against Garette's chest. They began to talk about random things—their worst teacher, their favourite movies, and silly inside jokes that still made them laugh. For a while, it felt like nothing had changed, and they could simply enjoy each other's company without thinking about the past.

"So, do you remember that time we got stuck in the rain after that baseball game?" Dyanne asked, a small smile playing on her lips.
