Fenrir ran killing as many inferior zerbarix as he could, the man, although he could not determine with certainty each zerbarix, had put together an improvised scheme of the hierarchy of each one by the way they fought and acted. The man was somewhat exhausted with some superficial wounds beginning to bleed, Fenrir did not understand, but thanks to the fresh blood exposed now his enemy would have at all times the exact location of him. It didn't matter what Fenrir would do, where he would hide or if he pretended to be a corpse to avoid his lethal enemies, they would know how to locate him and eventually eliminate him.
"Fuck me, more and more of these fuckers are showing up. I messed with the biggest ant nest of them all and that these bastards are cannibals. Nothing makes sense, but I have to keep fighting, I'm close to the exit.", he said trying to keep from falling from exhaustion.
The exhausted man stood behind some stones, for a brief moment he watched the other zerbarix move away. Far from feeling relieved or taking credit for scaring away the most feared plague, he had a bad feeling, that something really big and lethal, was approaching his location. Something that maybe Fenrir didn't have some plan or trick too. He looked, at his relics and his fear only intensified, he was alone, without magical resources, because the boots and gloves lost their energy and if Fenrir had not gone outside to receive rays from the sun, these relics would not have charged.
"Ha ha ha ha. I got carried away with my anger again." He looks at his brother's corpse and takes his left hand. "You always said I had many virtues, but they became small because of my one flaw. I get carried away by anger very easily when I lose my head. Now look at me where I am, five meters from the exit, but I failed because I couldn't act in a better way. Though hey, at least I can say I put up a better fight than you and your group brother, I don't know how much they were able to kill exactly, but I don't think they killed more than me.
Fenrir noticed three zerbarix that commanded great respect and malice that managed to make some zerbarix hovering near the area back off, one was even eating a group of his own as he approached. Despite the bad situation, Fenrir had prepared one last trick, a good con artist even if you run out of cards, you pull them out from even under the rocks to win the game. He was looking at a trail of zerbarix organs that he had scattered to prepare a network of these for him to light a fuse and create a chain reaction that would bring down the alphas. Maybe the explosion wouldn't be enough to eliminate the vermin, but he was counting on gaining enough time to escape, that was all he needed.
Something unexpected caught the man's attention, he could see with his own eyes the three alphas looking at each other, they blinked at each other in a very strange way. They realized what the man was up to and the zerbarix used their tails with hammers to bring down the roof over the visors, they knew their inner and outer parts well. They managed to ruin the trap of Fenrir who bit his lip until it bled from frustration, he realized that this strange blinking was another type of language that did not cause noise, perhaps as a tactic to coordinate between them discreetly. The two zerbarix on the sides walked in different directions while the one in the center walked forward.
"What will I do? What the fuck am I going to do? That was my last move and they destroyed it as if I were a mere novice."
Fenrir pulls out the crossbow he had been given before entering the nest, he remembered old Bruce's words and was beginning to consider the situation. He pointed the sharp point against his chest with his finger touching the trigger. As the shadow looked at the situation she could see that flaming aura fade away so she had lost interest in the human, in the end, he was no different than the rest and was just another piece of trash in the pile.
As this shadow turned her back she could see a great glow that illuminated the environment, as she turned she saw the human glowing like the sun as she shot her only escape at a zerbarix. His smile was curious, he was terrified and desperate, but at the same time, he still had the strength to fight. If he was going to die, he would die his way, fighting and being a pain to others.
"I'm stupid." He thought as he saw his mistake.
Being surrounded by the three Alphas, Fenrir closes his eyes and raises his body to fight, or rather die like a man while standing. Everything seemed to indicate that it was over, but the shadow acted with speed cutting the limbs of the zerbarix without being seen by Fenrir although he noticed its presence just the same.
"He opens his eyes and sees the scene. "Could it be that the gods took pity on this street rat? Never mind, it's my chance!"
Fenrir runs to attack the alphas that were suffering trying to understand where the attack had come from, that was too fast to have come from him, and yet something hurt them immobilizing them a little. Fenrir attacked the first one who used some tentacles to kill him, the man received whiplash while he ran cutting the whole body of the creature.
While the human was fighting with all his strength clinging to life, the other two alphas approached to eat their colleague and the human in the process. After all, any method was effective for them to achieve their goal. Fenrir reacts quickly and leaps toward the second zerbarix causing it to be bitten by its two companions.
"So the end justifies the means as long as they kill me, well I'll exploit that to my advantage you bastards!" He thought.
Fenrir forced the use of the shoe's relic, causing it, as it had no energy, to extract part of the man's blood from his feet, this fueled the fury and rage of all the zerbarix, especially the three alphas. The shadow contributed by taking advantage of the situation to attack from above the alphas, coming attacks from different directions caused a rare collapse in an area that began to fall on top of the zerbarix.
"Tremor here?!" said Tryforn as he felt the ground move.
"Something really pissed these monsters off." Bruce thought.
"So if you might make it out.", Aori said as she looked at the exit.
The roof fell along with several houses in the area above, burying the alpha zerbarix underneath. In the smoke came out a figure that seemed monstrous and was transforming into a human figure. It was Fenrir who, despite his wounds and the pain he was experiencing, was walking with the little strength he still contained in his being. Fenrir felt that breathing was becoming more and more difficult and his brother's almost skeletal body was becoming heavy, if that was not the part, his gaze was becoming blurred.
Looking at his side near the liver he could see a blade piercing it, apparently, one of those Alphas wanted to leave him a last memory before dying. Fenrir hit his face to keep walking, he should not faint, he knew that when he closed his eyes he would not open them again. He had to make a last effort to at least give Lion a dignified burial.
"You can do it."
The man collapsed on the ground and could no longer continue, while he closed his eyes he saw another figure of zerbarix, Fenrir lifted a stone to throw it to the creature that adopted a figure of another human being. At the end, the man closes his eyes accepting his end.
The shadow sees how the human had given the best battle of his life, even if he was dying in front of it, his inner flame was still burning wonderfully. That figure remembered the path and decided to pick him up, he looked at the corpse of the other human and decided to take him to the exit as well. He did not understand what meaning it had for someone who did not want to eat it, but he knew that this dead body could be a good bargaining chip if this other human escaped death.
Fenrir remembered the last time he saw Lion happy, it was that day he had graduated to be a sun knight to make a difference. Despite Fenrir's beliefs, he went to support and celebrate his younger brother's day, seeing him with that smile was a great memory. Not even when Lion hit him with that hammer, Fenrir would ever forget that smile.
"Lion!" Abruptly woke up the man feeling pain in his body. "If my body hurts, it means that... I'm still alive! I'm still alive, it hurts..."
"You won't follow him if you don't let your body rest.", commented the elf Fenrir had met. "I don't know if it's the luck of a thief or if you're really skilled, but you're the first to make it out of the nest alive and it would be a shame if you die from not recovering from your wounds."
"Ah it's the old woman..." He notices the look on the girl's face. "The good elf Aori, ha ha ha ha."
"You certainly are smart, you know when to recognize danger."
She had said a light-skinned, black-haired woman with dark gold pants and jacket, wearing a top, gloves, and boots, black, wearing a long brown scarf around her neck, as well as her bandana. The woman had a beautiful face like that of a mermaid, but the look of a cold, dead predator inside, Fenrir didn't know whether to care or fall in love with an interesting combination.
"Who are you?"
"She's not a friend of yours?" asked Aori confused.
"I don't have any friends, let alone one as cute as her.", the man replied with a smile.
Aori feeling zealous, nudges the guy's rib so he wouldn't look at others with those eyes. The elf apologizes for an innocent accident, though the mysterious girl replies that it wasn't true, it could be obviously noticed that she had done it with malice, but Aori looks tenderly at the protagonist to convince him, only it doesn't work because Fenrir wouldn't be fooled by any tender eyes in front of him.
"Can you tell me who you are, miss?"
The girl was silent, she raised an eyebrow trying to understand what the man had said, while the silence of the atmosphere felt more and more strange.
"Did he offend her?" the man thought.
"I don't think I've offended her or have I? I'm just asking her who she is?" thought the elf.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm a human girl, what more do you need?" the girl replied.
Fenrir and Aori were perplexed by that answer, it was not exactly what they wanted to refer to, they needed to know who she was, where she had come from, and why she saved Fenrir. However, that first answer had been unusual.
Bruce along with Tryforn and other men enter cutting through the rare scene that was taking place. He is glad to see Fenrir alive and awake, when he hears that the man made it out of the zerbarix nest, he needs to see with his own eyes the news.
"It's good to see you again Fenrir!" the captain said with joy.
"If you say so, old Bruce, but I don't understand so much surprise, it was logical that he was going to get out of there."
"It wasn't the same as I saw when I saw you come out unconscious and with that blade in your side," whispered Aori.
The girl understood the meaning of those words that did not seem to order, they must be what beings different from her called an individual identity. The girl thought that if she wanted to fit in, she could not be different and thought of an identity she could use without a problem.
"I am Kalishar and from now on I am of your family Fenrir."
Fenrir looks at the girl and feels that he is only even more confused because of her. He just merely asked what the girl was referring to, that she was now part of his family.
