Chapter 94: Origin

When Arthur was three years old.

As the day of his destined death drew near, Morgan could no longer bear the pressure. Desperate, she sought help from the outside world.

She reached out to Manaka, Merlin, and Artoria, showing them the data recording the changes in Arthur's body and soul. They discussed it at length, but all came to the same conclusion: there was no way out.

Even the legendary Love Song of the Roots couldn't solve this problem.

Merlin proposed that in a Roman spy village, Arthur had fallen victim to a soul-swapping curse—an enemy's magic. But this wasn't hope, it was deeper despair. Because although Arthur was unaware, Merlin had noticed: after the attacker's soul entered Arthur's body, it collapsed and rapidly disintegrated.

Despair.

No one could save that absurdly unstable state.

No new container could be created to hold Arthur's soul.

From then on, Artoria gave up on her dream of knighthood and devoted herself to magical research. Manaka refined ways to gather faith centered on the godhood, bolstering Arthur's body. Merlin used his clairvoyance to observe constantly, searching the whole world for a glimmer of hope.

When Arthur was four, the four tried every possible method—and then gave up.

It was simply impossible.

So Merlin made a plan: he would end things on his own terms, holding a funeral for Arthur in a celebratory manner. He even tricked poor Lancelot into the plan, nearly causing him to be castrated in the process.

That night, Manaka nervously entered Arthur's dormitory.

The other three hid outside the door.

Surprisingly—Arthur was fine.

When they checked again, Arthur's bodily factors had completely changed form.

So this was the chosen king.

Since then, Morgan treasured everything the Holy Grail had given her. Though the Grail was silent, unresponsive no matter what she did, and its magic seemed to have faded into mere decoration, she hid it deep within her workshop and guarded it carefully.

Until a few days ago, when the Holy Grail suddenly emitted a magical power stronger than ever before—threatening to destroy all of Britain.

Morgan dared not tell anyone. She especially couldn't let Arthur know.

She mobilized the spirit veins' power with all her strength, using the island lord's might to suppress the Grail. But it was futile.

Not only did the Holy Grail vanish, but the power of the island lord was broken and sealed.

This is the story of Morgan and the Holy Grail.

"Sister, you told me before Arthur isn't really Pendragon's blood, but you... so this is how Arthur was born." Artoria looked complex but did not resist. Quietly, she sat beside Arthur, grabbed his clothes, and rested her head on his shoulder.

"Little Arthur, I'm sorry. If I could choose, I'd wish you'd never know the truth. You and I aren't mother and son, nor siblings. We have no blood relation at all. Even the creator has nothing to do with me. But I promise, my love for you is deeper and more sincere than any mother's love!" Morgan's eyes shone with earnestness.

Actually, Arthur wanted to complain—

Sister, that's not motherly love. I swear by Merlin and Merry's lives, a normal mother wouldn't blush like that—or launch a midnight attack!

"Alright, case closed. So the Holy Grail was blocking my sight all along. No wonder my clairvoyance failed on you," Merlin smiled at Morgan. "My king's miraculous life has amazed big brother here. His heart still races. But isn't this a good thing? It proves the king's legitimacy."

"Yes, Sister. Though I hate agreeing with trash like you, this is true. Since the Holy Grail created me, it surely won't work against me. If it's gone, it's done its mission. No need to grieve." Arthur said simply.

At the same time...

[Task Trigger]

Time and Space Disorder

Request: The Holy King who came in response to a wish is a disruptor of the world. You caused the collapse of time and space's order. The world forbids eternal dynasties. But as king, how can you simply obey fate?

Reward: Item — Continent Splitter

Divine Punishment

Request: The Holy King is God's chosen, but his path has diverged from divine will. The conspiracy to kill the Holy King has begun. But as king, how can you tolerate God's power being above the king's?

Reward: Item — Gate of Eternal Calamity

Gaia

Requirement: The power of the spirit veins has changed hands. This is the judgment of the country's restraint. If the monarch cannot tame his land, he is disqualified.

Reward: Item — Earth Weaving (Healing)

Alaya

Requirement: Flowers never bloom forever, nor do countries prosper eternally. The guardian who repairs the world's track has arrived—but is the enemy the monarch must destroy.

Reward: Special — The Eternal Overlord's Court (Boundary)

As expected.

Given Britain's current state, it's a wonder these inhibitions have been tolerated so long.

These four tasks contain much information.

The last two warn Arthur that he and Britain are targeted by two great suppressive forces, with destructive intent.

Similar to Mission 2, where the God of the Bible showed displeasure, perhaps before this there was tolerance—someone or something holding back these restraints, allowing Britain to grow.

Finally, Task One.

"Coming to this world in response to a wish" means Arthur's soul arrived in this Type-Moon world nineteen years ago, but only awakened fifteen years ago. The "Arthur" before was only surface consciousness, or a new personality generated by the body.

But the phrases "disruptor of the world" and "collapse of space-time order" are intriguing.

Arthur's arrival was not only by Holy Grail power, but perhaps also by the Wise King System.

One person alone might disrupt the world—it sounds like a space-time phenomenon.

Daily conversations with Kikyo reveal she was unconsciously tired of the monster-filled world before time traveling, and her Four Souls Jade reacted to some unknown force.

Skadi, meanwhile, lost her memories. When Arthur asked, she vaguely recalled being tied up in a church, used as a sacrifice or worse.

My bold guess:

When these two traveled through time, their belongings met conditions that swept them into the time travel caused by Arthur. That alone could cause minimum world-order collapse.
