After a Saturday that had essentially been spent doing absolutely nothing but sleeping. Derek should have been more alert on Sunday night and on Sunday the day itself. He should have been wanting to be out there in the world.

To finish work, to catch up on projects, and to make sure that when it came to the work that he had done in advance, everything was in order.

But his body was not having it.

He had suffered for years. His body had suffered for years. It had endured what was way more, than what the average human body should have been able to take. Now that it was finally getting a chance to rest, to sleep, it was not letting go easily. And to be honest, Derek did not try all that hard to get his body to relinquish its hold on sleep, and wake up.

Rather than treating his body like a machine that only used sleep to recharge itself. Derek had taken the opportunity that came with sleeping with Emily and had run with it.
