The Birth of a Detective

I was on the terrace of our house, breathing fresh air and looking at the sky, when suddenly an idea came into my mind.

"I was named Clever, so why don't I change my appearance into that of a genius-looking guy? Apparently,  a typical appearance of a genius is white-haired, and they wear glasses too; I'll definitely look good with that! I'm really Clever! But wait, will my parents even allow me to dye my hair white though? Aha! I should ask them."

I went inside, but suddenly, I heard my mom screaming. I rushed to see what was happening. I'd arrived in the living room, where I'd heard the noise. My heart started pounding in my chest as I watched the scene unfold before me. The air was thick with tension, and the only sound was the harsh whispers of the wind. From my hidden vantage point, I could see the figures moving with purpose, their movements calculated and precise. And then, in an instant, everything changed. A flash of metal, a sickening sound, and my world shattered around me as I witnessed the brutal annihilation of my family. My eyes reacted on it's own. I saw a logo tattoo on those assassins, it's a bullet tattoo. I marked that logo on my mind as a clue material, In that heart-wrenching moment, as I watched helplessly as my family was torn from me, a new sense of purpose ignited within me. The flames of vengeance burned bright in my soul, fueling a determination unlike anything I had ever felt before. In that instant, my path was clear. I vowed to hunt down those responsible for the atrocity I had just witnessed, to unravel the mystery of the organization behind it all, and to exact justice for the loved ones I had lost. From that day forward, my sole focus became one thing: REVENGE.

"I swear on the blood of my parents, I will hunt each and every one of you down to the ends of the earth!"

The next thing I knew, I fell unconscious, not being able to handle the despair after witnessing the assassination of my parents.

The day after that, I woke up and found myself lying on the floor while my parents were still in the same spot where they were annihilated. I had no time to panic, so I went to call the ambulance to pick up my parents at the hospital. We finally arrived at the hospital, and my parents had an operation. I've waited and waited until a nurse came out of the operation room. The first thing the nurse told me was

"They didn't make it, I'm terribly sorry."

with a soft and guilty-toned voice. Of course, I wasn't surprised anymore; I've already burst out in tears after witnessing that. Judging by the way those assassins annihilated my parents, there was no doubt they wouldn't make it.

Looking back, I've had good memories with my parents. They are so kind to me. They gave me special treatments, but that's not all. Sometimes, when they take me with them for a walk, I catch them doing illegal things like drug dealing, robbing, and threatening innocent people. I ignored it because I didn't want to get in their way; I wanted our family to stay the way it is as much as possible. Could this be why they got assassinated? I don't care if my parents have done worse things; I loved them as my family. That's why, no matter what, I will avenge their deaths!

"i see, thank you for your hard work."

I've remained quiet and turned my back at the nurse taking my way out of the hospital, knowing I've already decided where I should live as of now.

There's this certain guy I know; he's wealthy enough to take care of me; he has everything there is. But that's not all about him. He's the kind of guy who wouldn't let me live there without doing anything for myself; anytime we met, he would ask me if I'd like to train with him. And that guy... is my uncle. He always tried to keep me away from my parents; he's a detective after all. Even though he knows everything my parents have done, he still has a soft spot in his heart for them. No wonder why he couldn't sell them off to the police.

"I guess there's no other choice; I mean, this is the best option for me. After all, I need to train myself in order to be strong enough to beat those assassins, and since he's a detective, this might be my best advantage to learn deduction."

I've arrived at my uncle's mansion. I rang the doorbell, then a butler opened the door to greet me.

"Oh, it's you, Clever; it's been a long time. Come in, Sir. Zoren would like to see you"

"Yes, thank you, Sir butler."

I went inside my uncle's mansion, and then we noticed each other in the living room.

"Oh, Clever, it's you! What makes you come here? Could it be that you've already decided that I will train you?"

"Well yeah, but I came here because..."

"What? something happened between you and your parents?"

"No, they got assassinated."

After hearing my words, it surprised him. I can't blame him for that; he has a soft spot for my parents, after all.

"I see... What a shame huh? does this mean you want me to train you so you could find the culprit?"

"Yeah..."

I've responded with depression. I still couldn't accept the fact that they were gone after all.

"Do you want to learn or not? I understand that you feel that way, but you have to accept the fact that what's gone is gone. Do you think that staying depressed will bring back the dead?"

I understood his words clearly, then listened to him; I'll just have to pretend that I accepted it. But as usual, I will avenge my parents deaths no matter what.

We started head-on. I started by reading books about solving mysteries and a deduction guide. He would even challenge me to have a chess match with him, of course. I'd always lose, and then he trains me in mixed martial arts. I would even start breaking my bones just to get stronger, and of course I would also work out to grow muscles. I need it for durability, after all. I did everything to reach higher levels as a human; my goal is to reach the peak human level, knowing well, that's impossible, especially at the age of 9 years old.

"Hey, you know you still have to study. You should still go to classes."

"Yes, i know."

I'm still a third-grade student, but I've already planned to behave differently than I usually do. I will keep a low profile from now on.

"Don't appear depressed in public; people will avoid you. You need allies to achieve your goals, so in order to have allies, you must smile and have a charismatic aura."

I took his advice clearly: listening to an experienced professional is something you won't regret after all. If that's what he thinks is right, then I should go for it.
