We stepped on the ice and walked on it to cross over to the other side. Suddenly, there was a great tremor and the ice started to melt from the other end. We quickly ran as we wanted to cross over to the other side before the ice melted.

Just then, a great big monster came out from the water lake. It resembled a fish but also had the body of a hippopotamus and it was very large, huge, and terrifying all at once. The monster dashed straight to us and as it moved the ice near it began to melt.

Lyra tried to perform another freezing spell to freeze the water back, but it didn't work. It was as if the monster had sucked all the magic and I couldn't use my magic again. My eyes widened in realization. I had read about this kind of monster.
