"Am I considered the third option?" Suddenly, a clear, loud voice came from above.
"?"
The mustachioed man looked up in shock, only to see a strikingly handsome man standing on the roof's edge, looking down at him with a dashing pose. A living person had appeared right above him, yet none of the many present had noticed!
"Are you... Henry?" Slater had previously traded with Henry, buying ten bows from him and feeling thoroughly fleeced, which left a particularly deep impression. But thanks to those ten bows, they were able to nearly effortlessly take over the supermarket.
If they had relied solely on melee weapons to fight zombies, the camp's fighters would likely have suffered significant losses.
Upon seeing Henry, Slater's reaction was first joy, then shock. He was glad that reinforcements had arrived, but shocked that it was just Henry alone—wasn't that basically a suicide mission? Not to mention that he himself was a hostage, even if he were free to move, adding Henry would only make four.
Four against eight, anyone could see the stark difference in power.
"Hey, Henry, you better run, go to the supermarket entrance, and call the others!" "If we match their numbers, we might still stand a fight!" Slater shouted loudly.
"Wait, I want to ask, if I save you, is there anything in it for me?" Henry suddenly interjected.
"What?"
"What?" Henry's question completely baffled both Minako and Slater.
"At a time like this, you're still setting conditions, don't you have any decency?"
Slater was almost in tears. What kind of people were these?
"Stop kidding me!"
"It's normal for me to be compensated for my labor in rescuing you!"
"I could have just waited for these people to kill you, and then kill them myself!"
"That way, I get everything, which would be even more profitable!"
"So, the fact that I'm not choosing that option and instead negotiating with you, is actually quite friendly, you know?" Henry stated earnestly.
Slater was momentarily speechless after hearing Henry's argument. It... actually made a lot of sense, and he found himself unable to refute it.
Yeah, why should someone save you for free? Even when returning a lost wallet, you give a reward. Expecting to get saved without giving anything in return seemed a bit too much!
"Well... how about this then, I'll give you 20 bags of frozen food, how's that?" Slater proposed.
"You really know how to do the math, don't you? With the power out, frozen food can't be stored in fridges; it can only go into storage space!"
"You're offering me something you can't even keep?"
"Forget it, I won't waste time haggling. A flat rate!"
"Give me half of the supplies you got from the supermarket!"
"And if you pull any tricks, I'll take everything!"
"Got it?" Henry spoke coldly.
"Well... okay, it's a deal, agreed!" Slater gritted his teeth. All that effort spent by his people, scouting the terrain, engaging in combat, killing zombies, and after several days of hard work, to give half of their spoils to Henry felt like a bitter loss. But what other choice did they have? If they're dead, what use is the food in the supermarket to them? Slater had to compromise.
"Damn it, do you think I'm invisible?"
"I'll kill all of you!"
The mustachioed man saw Henry and Slater negotiating as if he wasn't even there, and exploded in rage, yelling frantically!
"Be careful, don't underestimate him; it was this guy who killed Ohno and the others!" Minako said nervously.
"Ohno was a fool for underestimating him, but I won't make that mistake!"
"We're just new to this world, but we operate as a team!"
"Even if this kid has leveled up quickly, he's at best equal to our top people!"
"Let's all go at him together! Don't let this man escape!" the mustachioed man shouted loudly.
However...
Henry had no intention of running. He lightly landed in the alley and drew his Katana.
"Henry, weren't you supposed to be rescuing us?!"
"I sent you to get help, who asked you to take them on alone?"
"You're walking into your death?!" Slater yelled anxiously.
However, just as he finished speaking, Henry moved in ways they couldn't comprehend. His figure flickered left and right. In an instant, the mustachioed man and two of his companions were sliced in half.
The two young men behind Slater also took the opportunity to engage the men behind them. Slater's people were also at the exceptionally strong level, as were their four opponents. But having the numerical advantage, they pressed the two, forcing them back step by step.
Swoosh!
The two only saw a flash of cold light, and then the four in front of them just fell straight to the ground, dead.
"Holy shit... what just happened?"
"Did Henry just kill four men at once?"
"Damn, he's the same level as me... that means..."
"We wouldn't even stand a chance against a single strike from him..."
"That's terrifying!"
The two young men had started off fearless against four opponents. But seeing Henry, their legs trembled uncontrollably. The power difference was chilling.
"Don't come any closer, or I'll kill their leader!"
"Then you can forget about getting any of the supplies he promised you!"
Minako had anticipated this outcome.
Minako had already taken Slater hostage to one side. She leaned against the wall to ensure no one could attack her from a blind spot in her vision. This woman was quite cunning! Even before the conflict started, she had prepared for the possibility of defeat, giving herself a way out.
"Sorry, I don't accept threats," Henry said coldly.
"I've recorded the promise Slater just made to me. If his people don't believe it and refuse to give me half of the supplies, I might as well just kill them all. It won't take much time, and I can take the supplies at my leisure."
"But you, you must die because I gave you a chance."
"And you lied to me."
Henry spoke indifferently as he steadily walked towards Minako.
"You... don't come any closer..."
"I... I..."
Minako felt an immense pressure, a presence she had never encountered before. It was as if she was facing a deity of death, the air around permeated with the scent of demise! This man might truly do as he says.
Weighing half a supermarket's supplies against all of it, anyone would know which is the better deal. If it were Minako herself, she'd definitely look for an excuse to kill everyone and hoard all the supplies for herself. So... she assumed Henry would do the same.
Despite holding a hostage, she felt no security at all. Seeing Minako's hand tremble, Slater seized the moment to grab her hand and drop to the ground.
He rolled away clumsily and sprinted out of her grasp.
At the same time, Henry reached Minako. In one swift motion, he split Minako from top to bottom in two!
