Henry inspected one of the iron doors. It was a solid, cast door about five centimeters thick and quite heavy. He punched one of the open iron doors with all his strength.
Thud~...
The dull sound echoed through the air raid shelter. Henry felt a slight pain in his fist. Under such force, the iron door had only bent slightly. To cause such an exaggerated bulge, whoever was on the other side must have been far beyond Henry's current capacity in both size and strength. He realized he wasn't strong enough yet—he needed to become stronger.
Henry continued his exploration and soon reached the end of the corridor. There was a laboratory there. The deformed iron door lay on the ground, and the lonely door frame bore the inscription: Raven T325 Laboratory.
Walking into the laboratory, the space was large, subdivided into several smaller labs. Along the walls stood several human-height transparent glass jars filled with murky liquid. In some jars, experimental bodies were pressed against the container edges, exposing organ-like structures that looked quite grotesque. However, they had long since lost any signs of life.
On the other side, there was a glass wall through which one could clearly observe the scene behind it. A mummified corpse sat on a chair, its head tilted back, face indistinguishable. The walls and glass were covered in bloody scratch marks. It seemed that before death, the person had endured unimaginable torment and pain.
Henry quickly scanned the room and didn't find anything particularly notable at first. However, as he focused on a computer, a prompt popped up:
[This computer contains experimental logs, which will be helpful for you to understand the enemies in this world!]
[The operation of this computer is largely similar to those in the real world, so no need to worry about how to use it!]
Experimental logs? This was valuable! These were official research documents on monsters, naturally carrying some authority. Harvesting! Henry lightly touched the computer.
Ding! Harvest successful! Congratulations, you have obtained an Experimental Notebook Computer (including power supply)!
There was nothing else in the laboratory worth lingering for. Many of the test tubes had broken, and their contents had spilled everywhere.
Leaving the laboratory, Henry turned left and hadn't gone far when he noticed a huge pit in the ground. The pit was large enough to swallow a moving car! Looking down through the night vision goggles, it seemed bottomless. All he could see were the excavated dirt sides and exposed rebar and concrete.
[This hole is fifty-three meters deep. With your current strength, if you jump down...]
[There is a 90% chance you'll sprain an ankle, a 35% chance you'll fracture something, and a 100% chance you cannot climb back up...]
Well, that's something... You might as well have told me not to jump. How straightforward would that be! Henry muttered a few complaints to himself internally. This pit was likely dug by the monsters that had invaded.
The real enemy comes from beneath? This was somewhat alarming!
Henry turned and walked in the other direction. At the end of this path was a large iron door with the inscription: Military Area, No Unauthorized Entry! Henry pulled out a peculiarly shaped key to the armory and unlocked the door.
Upon opening it, a vast space unfolded before him. The floor was covered with boxes of military crates.
From some of the open crates, rows of brand new assault rifles were visible. On another side, tactical helmets, bulletproof vests, and spare camouflage uniforms were neatly stacked. At the far end of the wall stood two armed mechs, exactly as described in the diary. This was a real jackpot!
First, Henry returned to the location of the deep pit and pulled out a truck from his storage space. With the front of the truck facing downward, it plunged straight into the pit. Soon, a dull thud was heard, followed by the sound of parts falling off.
The truck, having been used multiple times to crush zombies, was nearly at the end of its service life. Though it could still be driven, the bumper was broken, and the tires were variously damaged. Moreover, Henry no longer needed to use the truck to kill zombies. Its historical mission had been fulfilled!
Henry then went back to the armory. He stored the two armed mechs into his storage space—perfectly fitting the two vehicles. Next, he began to systematically collect the other items.
Ding! Harvest successful!
Congratulations, you have obtained M16 Assault Rifles *100, AMR Sniper Rifles *5, Anti-Armor Man-Portable Cannon *1, Exoskeleton Assistance Devices *20,Tactical Helmets *100, Bulletproof Vests *100, Camouflage Military Uniforms *100, Fragmentation Grenades *200, Thermite Grenades *80, Laser Trip Mines *120, C4 Adhesive Explosives *80, Flashbangs *50, Tear Gas Grenades *50, Smoke Grenades *50, Sniper Rifle Armor-Piercing Rounds *1200, Anti-Armor Shells *200, T20 Armed Mech Energy Cores *4, Armed Mech Ammunition Supply Boxes *20...
What a haul! Henry could almost form an army with all these items!
Various explosives, coupled with the ability to replenish energy and ammunition for the armed mechs... this gave Henry even more confidence in dealing with the impending zombie horde. He was truly elated now! Luckily, he had upgraded his ring, otherwise, he might not have been able to take all these items in one go. Even so, the 72-slot storage space was still almost at capacity, leaving only 2 slots free. He needed to find some storage ring fragments and upgrade the level of the storage ring!
Henry walked out of the armory and took off his night vision goggles. The outside world was so bright that it was almost blinding. He couldn't help but rub his eyes, taking a while to readjust to the outdoor light.
It was just after two in the afternoon. There were still over four hours until sunset. He should have enough time!
Henry walked out of the school and got back into the off-road vehicle parked by the roadside. Off he went! Following the directions on the map, the vehicle headed north along the main road. About ten minutes later, the off-road vehicle stopped at the south side of a river-crossing bridge, in front of a convenience store.
"Heh heh..."
"Uh..."
As soon as Henry got out of the car, the noise attracted the surrounding zombies, who quickly surrounded him.
"These guys are really a bit of a nuisance, wasting my time!" Henry drew his katana and swiftly cleared the nearby zombies.
He then turned and entered the convenience store. There were no zombies inside, and the shelves of food and daily necessities had been completely looted. On the wall, someone had used zombie blood to write a few words:
"We are on the north side of the river, there is food here!"
