Spending a Fortune on Horse Bones

Lou Guanning wanted to form a professional team to join the Glory Professional Alliance, so having silver equipment and weapons was essential. Curious, Lou Guanning asked, "What kind of silver weapon did you design, Master?"

"I play a Magic Swordsman, so naturally, I designed a short sword," Liu Hao replied confidently.

Upon hearing this, Lou Guanning's interest waned. His team had no Magic Swordsman players, so they didn't need a short sword for that class.

"Master, we don't need a short sword. Our team consists of a Berserker, a Battle Mage, an Elementalist, a Grappler, a Priest, and a Qi Master," Lou Guanning said, slightly embarrassed. The master had worked hard to save him, but it seemed like a wasted effort in the end.

Liu Hao knew that selling the short sword to Lou Guanning was akin to selling a wheelchair to someone with perfectly healthy legs—it wouldn't be easy. But Liu Hao was skilled at persuasion:

"Wait a moment, don't be so quick to dismiss it. Do you know that the Glory Professional League requires each professional team to have 8 to 12 members? You only have six players now, seven if you include Repose in Summer. You'll need at least one substitute. What if you recruit a Magic Swordsman as your substitute?"

"Master, are you saying you want to join us?" Lou Guanning asked excitedly. The role of Six Red was precisely that of a Magic Swordsman, and their performance along the way demonstrated professional-level skills.

Liu Hao twitched at the corner of his eye. He had inadvertently implicated himself. "No, no, I mean someone else. There are countless skilled players in Glory. If you happen to find a skilled Magic Swordsman and want to recruit them, wouldn't it be beneficial to have something attractive to offer?"

"Oh, I see," Lou Guanning said, a bit disappointed. Still, he thought Liu Hao made a good point. If they encountered a top-tier Magic Swordsman and wanted to recruit them, having a silver weapon like a short sword could increase their chances. After all, who wouldn't want to wield a powerful silver weapon in Glory? He'd like to buy one if he didn't already have the Slashing Edge.

"Alright, Master, I'll buy your silver weapon, but can you lower the price a bit? Over a million is quite a lot," Lou Guanning bargained.

"No way. This silver weapon is my painstakingly designed treasure. You have no idea how many sleepless nights and how much hair loss it cost me," Liu Hao lied effortlessly, knowing Lou Guanning wouldn't be able to verify his claims.

Lou Guanning thought about it and agreed it made sense. Every silver weapon was the product of a designer's hard work. But his own money didn't come easy either…

"Master, I understand if it's a bit pricey, but at least the attributes should be good, right?" Lou Guanning probed. He wasn't interested in silver weapons with attributes similar to orange weapons, which typically sold for a few hundred thousand at most.

"Rest assured, the attributes of the weapon I designed far exceed those of the common silver weapons on the market," Liu Hao guaranteed.

Lou Guanning's eyes widened. "Really? Far exceed? Is it on par with the spear Evil Annihilation?"

You've got to be kidding. Su Muqiu crafted Evil Annihilation, later refined by over a dozen designers at Excellent Era, making it the most potent weapon in Glory today. Even my complete Wind Chime Sword can't match it. How could a semi-finished product be on the same level? Liu Hao laughed at the thought. Evil Annihilation's market value exceeded eight million. If his silver weapon were indeed on that level, it wouldn't sell for just over a million.

"That's an exaggeration. Evil Annihilation is the strongest weapon in the professional league today. I'm not that much of a genius to create a divine weapon. Although my weapon can't compare to Evil Annihilation, it does have professional-level attributes. Rest assured about that," Liu Hao explained patiently.

"Oh, sorry. Excellent Era never disclosed Evil Annihilation's specific attributes. So, I only know it's incredibly powerful," Lou Guanning said, embarrassed by his ignorance.

"No worries. A high-quality silver weapon typically sells for one or two million on the market. I'll give you a discount—how about 1.5 million?" Liu Hao offered.

Lou Guanning wasn't foolish. Just because Liu Hao called it high-quality didn't make it so. He had some reservations and asked, "Can you share the specific attributes of the finished silver weapon? I want to see how good it really is."

Liu Hao thought this guy was cautious, afraid of being scammed.

"Of course. I'll send you the attribute values so you can verify them before paying. I trust the highest spender player in Glory," Liu Hao said with a smile.

Flattered, Lou Guanning ultimately lowered his guard. Offering to verify before payment wasn't something a scammer would say.

Liu Hao extracted the design from his mind and let the system perform a series of calculations, resulting in a semi-finished Wind Chime Sword design—Evil King Short Sword. Its attributes were significantly reduced compared to the complete version, but it still surpassed orange weapons, reaching a professional level.

Liu Hao quickly compiled the attribute data into a document and sent it to Lou Guanning's email.

Lou Guanning glanced over the data and frowned. The weapon's attributes were indeed professional-level, but just barely. It was comparable to the lowest-tier professional silver weapons, not high-quality. Such a weapon was worth at most fifty or sixty thousand, not 1.5 million. Spending 1.5 million on it would be a colossal waste.

Lou Guanning felt a bit let down. He had thought Six Red was a genius silver weapon designer. Nonetheless, designing a professional-level silver weapon on his own was impressive. Such talent shouldn't be offended. Who knows, he might create better silver armaments in the future.

"Master, the weapon's attributes are decent, but 1.5 million is too much. I think 1.5 million isn't worth it. But if you really want to sell it, I can offer 1 million, but I want exclusive rights. You can't sell this weapon to anyone else. Deal?" Lou Guanning proposed after some hesitation.

Liu Hao had anticipated Lou Guanning's response. No matter how persuasive he was, Lou Guanning wouldn't willingly overpay for a weapon worth only sixty thousand, especially one they couldn't use. However, 1 million was below Liu Hao's expectations.

Liu Hao had an idea. Getting Lou Guanning to pay 1.5 million for the silver weapon wasn't impossible.

"Have you ever heard the story of spending a fortune on horse bones?" Liu Hao asked with a sly smile.
