Everything seemed like a fairy tale part2

Flashback continuation

The warmth of the coat gradually spread through the boy's soaked t-shirt. He raised his head slightly, his eyes still suspicious, and met the little girl's gaze.

-What's your name?, she asked with a reassuring smile.

He seemed to hesitate, weighing his words carefully. Then, with unusual gravity for his age, he tilted his head and replied, "If I tell you my name, then we will have to be together forever."

The little girl blinked, surprised by his answer.

-Until we die?, she asked intrigued

The boy nodded: Yes until we get old and die

She frowned slightly, trying to understand. Then, his face lit up with a mischievous smile. "Okay," she said, laughing, "I promise to be with you forever!"

The boy looked at her with a new intensity.

-Really?, he asked, as if he didn't completely believe it

-Yes, really, she replied without hesitation, I am not a liar

He took a deep breath, as if to gather his courage.

-My name is Donovan, he said finally.

The little girl nodded, memorizing the name carefully. "Nice to meet you, Donovan. My name is Huyn."

For the first time since they had met, a genuine smile lit up Donovan's face. It was a shy smile, almost hesitant, but it was sincere. Huyn then stood up and stretched out his hand towards him.

-Come on, let's find a place where we'll be dry, she suggested.

Donovan grabbed his hand, slowly standing up. Together, they headed towards the nearest shelter, their footsteps splashing in the puddles. The rain continued to fall around them, but it seemed less cold, less heavy, now that they were together.

And so, in the pouring rain, a special friendship was born. Stronger than simple bonds of camaraderie, forged in solitude and comfort, it promised to last well beyond this gray day.

Huyn and Donovan found shelter under a small courtyard at the end of the playground. The sound of the rain drumming on the metal roof created a soothing, almost comforting melody. They sat side by side on the wooden bench, savoring this moment of respite.

Hyun, his eyes sparkling with excitement, turned to Donovan.

-Now that we're friends, she began, will you come play at my house if I invite you?

Donovan thought for a moment, his brows furrowed as if he were carefully weighing his answer. Then he nodded slowly.

-Okay, he said, but first you have to play at my house. Afterwards, I can come play at your house.

Huyn raised her eyebrows, intrigued.

-Why do I have to play at your house first?, she asked curiously

Donovan gave a small, enigmatic smile.

-It's a kind of rule, he explained. "Let's play at my house first because my parents want to watch the new friends I'm making. And then, I want to show you something.

Hyun was now even more excited. -What do you want to show me? She asked, her eyes wide.

Donovan shrugged, his smile widening.

-It's a surprise, he said simply.

Hyun nodded enthusiastically.

-Okay, then we'll go play at your place first!

Donovan seemed relieved by her acceptance, and they stood there for a moment, watching the rain fall. Huyn couldn't help but wonder what it was that Donovan had so special to show him. But it didn't matter, because she was happy to have found a new friend, a friend with whom she could share more than games.

After a moment of silence, Huyn stood up and extended his hand toward Donovan.

-Shall we go now? She asked impatiently.

Donovan looked at the rain which was still falling hard.

-Maybe when the rain stops, he suggested.

Huyn nodded, accepting this answer. For now, they were safe, together, and that was all that mattered.

They remained in the courtyard, talking about everything and nothing, sharing stories and dreams. Every word, every laugh brought their hearts a little closer. And even though the rain continued to fall, for Huyn and Donovan, it was the beginning of a friendship that promised to shine brighter than the brightest sun.

-What are you children doing here?, suddenly asked the surprised teacher.

-Sorry mistress, it was me who asked Donovan to go play in the rain, said the little girl with her head down.

-Hyun you must not do that otherwise you will both get sick, sighed the teacher, go inside the school
