Mother Sheng and a few others had been waiting in the outer courtyard for nearly half an hour but had not seen their master come out. Observing the sky, Mother Sheng had no choice but to go in to hurry them, only to be stopped by Yuan Xiao just as she reached the vestibule of the inner courtyard.
"Yuan Xiao, it's getting late. The young master and Madam should set off for the Xie Residence now," said Mother Sheng.
This visit was to pay respect to their elders, and arriving around mealtime would seem insincere.
"We'll talk about it later!" Yuan Xiao said, her face set cold.
Chow Yun and Chun Yu would not dare to press further if met by Yuan Xiao's standoffish demeanor, but Mother Sheng frowned and said, "It's already very late. I'll go in and rush them a bit."
As an old servant by Madam's side, she also bore the duty of urging her master when necessary, offering timely reminders when her master was being capricious. This was part of her responsibilities.
