Due to the recent reviving of the activities of the witches, anyone could be in danger and Sebastian didn't want to loose anyone he trusted. Same reason he sent guards to protect Mr Nolan. After all, some say prevention is better than cure! Meaning to prevent a problem is better than to solve the problem.
On their way back to the palace, Sebastian narrated all that had happened to Father Roberts. From the thefts in Blackthorn to Mr Nolan's incident. Reaching the castle, Benjamin led Father Roberts to the room where Mr Nolan's deceased Coachman, Matthew was kept. The body was embalmed and was covered in a white cloth. "This is the victim sir" Benjamin said as he pulled the white cloth away from the body. "I'll need some time alone" Father Roberts said as he stared down at the body of Matthew. "Sure" Benjamin said as he exited the room and went to meet Sebastian who decided to take a walk in the garden after returning to the castle.
Meanwhile, after Mrs Nolan prepared breakfast for the whole family, she dressed up to go to the palace. Gabrielle had to go to her mother's shop since her mother wasn't going. While Kayden had to stay home and look after his father till his mother was back. Due to the fact that there was no one to watch Mirabelle, Mrs Nolan decided to take her along to the palace. The two guards followed them to the palace in the carriage Sebastian gifted them. After about an hour and a half of the horses galloping towards the direction of the palace, they arrived.
Mrs Nolan opened her mouth in awe as they approached the palace gates. The gates was made out of iron and Black opal. A rare gemstone. Denver was know for having different types of gemstones, from the rarest to the most accessible. A particular area underground in Denver was blessed bountifully with it that's why in the past, most kingdoms tried to overthrow it. But only the crown and a few rich Lords or Viscounts knew where the gemstone placement was. The power of Denver was in their gemstones and fertile grounds in which they planted on. They often sold their gemstones to other kingdoms for more resources, so their economy was stable. Mirabelle heard her mother gasp in awe and asked "Mother, what is it?". "It's nothing dear. The palace is just really beautiful" Mrs Nolan said as they got to the gate. The watchman and the guards at the gates asked Mrs Nolan her reason for coming and she said "I wish to see the king please. It will be quick". With that, they looked inside the carriage and saw Marcus and Klaus and they felt relived knowing it was their people. They couldn't allow just anyone waltz inside the palace so they were vigilant anytime anyone approaches the palace.
They opened the huge gates and the horses walked inside the palace grounds. The messenger went straight to the huge garden where the king was "Your highness, someone wishes to see you" the male messenger said. Sebastian turned around to look at the man "Who is that?" The king asked almost getting irritated that his quiet time was interrupted. "Klaus and Marcus are with the visitors. So I think it's the wife of your gardener sire" the messenger reported. Sebastian squinted his eyes for a split second and walked towards the direction of the throne room where Mrs Nolan and Mirabelle where waiting.
Though she didn't want to, Mrs Nolan found herself gaping as her brown eyes glanced every corner. Mirabelle on the other hand who was sitting beside her mother, had both of her hands resting on her lap with a relaxed expression. That exact second, Sebastian and Benjamin walked in and Mrs Nolan quickly stood up while gently pulling Mirabelle to her feet.
"Your majesty" Mrs Nolan curtsied and Mirabelle did the same after hearing her mother greet Sebastian.
Sebastian gave the woman a gentle smile before his eyes drifted to the young girl beside the woman.
She had a small frame and her brown hair was pulled down reaching her waist. But there was something off about her the more he stared at her.
Looking back at Mrs Nolan, Sebastian said "You may sit". Mirabelle felt something thug at her heart after she heard the king's voice. His voice was husky but gentle and still commanded respect. It made her curious to want to see the face behind the voice.
