Demented and Sadistic

The atmosphere in the castle was dense and everyone was cautious of their actions after hearing the fate of the kitchen servant Acrius. But for the king, the day was getting better. It was the day Irvington's colleagues were going to be punished at the scaffold and in a few minutes, he would be heading to the square.

Gabrielle was seated on a wooden stool looking out the window of the bedroom she shared with her sister. What happened the night before was still stuck in her head. If a night creature had eyes for her sister didn't it mean trouble?. After all their parents were very cautious of the night creatures and also told them to stay away from whoever looked like a night creature. But you couldn't blame them, they had never encountered or heard any stories of anyone encountering a good night creature. Only the light creatures were said to be good. The creatures of the night were said to harm humans whether or not they had a reason for doing so but on the other hand, if the man wanted to hurt Mirabelle he would have done so with the time he used to write her that letter. Gabrielle slammed her forehead as those thoughts filled her head. She turned to look at Mirabelle who was sleeping soundly and got up from the stool she was sitting and walked towards the wooden bed Mirabelle was lying on. "I hope this secret admirer of yours won't hurt you. Human or not, because sometimes even humans act like the real monsters" Gabrielle said while running her hands through Mirabelle's brown hair. An action which made the girl awaken from her slumber. Mirabelle blinked her eyes a couple of times before opening them fully.

"Good morning" she heard her sister say.

"Gabby... good morning" Mirabelle returned the greeting. Given her condition, Mirabelle had to improve on every other of her senses. Her hearing, her sense of smell and also train her brain to remember how her family members looked like and how their home looked like before she was blind. Her family also helped by trying to keep and arrange things exactly the way it was years ago when the child still had her sight. Though if it was something they had to adjust or change positions in the house, they inform Mirabelle even though they never truly left her side. Mirabelle was seven years old when she became blind and alot of things had changed in the family, including having her father now working for the king which increased their finances to a decent extent. They were not struggling, but they were not rich either but they were comfortable and happy. From the fragments of memories she could recall, she knew her papa was just a village gardener and it didn't really favor him then because they lived in the village where most of the peasants didn't care how their home looked or rather didn't consider gardening as an important thing. But now, her father was working for the king. When she was informed, she was surprised and glad that her father's work was recognized by the king.

"How was your night rest?" Gabrielle removed the sheets that was made out of wool from mirabelle's body. "It was fine and how was yours?" Mirabelle turned her head to the direction she heard her sister's voice coming from. Gabrielle paused for a while before answering "To be honest I did not sleep well. I could not forget what happened last night, I was worried about you". Mirabelle's expression softened after hearing her sister's words. "You do not have to worry. Let's just hope this is something good. To say the truth, I am indeed concerned but I do not want to falter. Are you going to tell our parents?". Gabrielle pouted her mouth as she hadn't actually thought if she was going to tell their parents or not. "Let's keep it between ourselves for now" Gabrielle said as she held mirabelle's hand, making her stand up from the bed.

Gabrielle drew water for their baths and they quickly cleaned up before meeting the rest of the family who were already performing their morning chores.

Sebastian inhaled the fresh hair as he stepped out of the castle, he was going to have fun this morning before returning to the castle to handle taxation problems with his ministers. As always, a wicked smile adorned his face as he stepped into his carriage with Benjamin following him behind. If anyone sees the king for the first time, they'd immediately assume he's friendly because of the subtle smile he always had on but behind that smile were the demented thoughts of a sadistic person. But though it looked like there were many bad layers to the king, deep down was something different.
