Chapter 4 Q7 Collides with Honda CRV

Five years later.

In the stiflingly jammed traffic, cars lined up bumper to bumper, unable to move.

Sitting inside her car, Shen Hanqian, upon seeing the promotional clip for "Where Are We Going, Dad?" pop up on her iPad screen, once again lost control and spaced out.

Tomorrow would be that child's fifth birthday. He should be as tall as the kids in the clip by now, right? If he were still alive, would he also smile as happily as they did?

But Shen Hanqian simply couldn't imagine the child's smile. For years, all she had in her mind were images of a child with broken arms and legs, kneeling on the street begging for money.

So much so that every time she saw such a child on the street, she would stare for a long time before dropping quite a bit of money.

"Baby, mommy is sorry she didn't protect you and can't find you now. Are you doing well? No matter where you are, be a good child. Good children don't fight, you know?" she murmured, her eyes reddening once again.

The heat in her eyes forced her to close them, allowing herself to calm down by sheer effort.

Crying was the most useless behavior; tears were the most worthless things.

She wouldn't allow herself to be associated with these things!

After being stuck in traffic for two hours, she could finally move. Shen Hanqian started her car and headed towards home!

After crossing two streets, at an intersection near a hotel, her white Q7, advancing straight ahead, was suddenly hit with a 'bang' by a crossing Honda CRV—

Shen Hanqian stepped out to inspect her car: the headlight was shattered, but the rest seemed okay.

She was about to ask the other party if they had insurance and if they could settle it quickly.

But before she could even speak,

the redhead girl from the other car, reeking of alcohol, yelled angrily, "How the hell do you drive? Are you blind? You think because you drive a Q7 you're something special, that you can just hit people?"

This person was being completely unreasonable. Shen Hanqian had no intention of being polite anymore. "This accident was clearly caused by your car cutting in, and you're also driving under the influence. You are fully responsible!"

"So what?" The girl replied arrogantly, arms folded across her chest, disdainful of everyone. "If you've got the guts, call the police."

"Of course, I'm going to call the police to defend my rights and not let someone who violates traffic laws get away with it," Shen Hanqian dialed the police.

The girl gave an arrogant retort, "I'm not afraid of anyone you might call,"

and with that, the girl in her high stiletto heels staggered back to her car. She then picked up her phone, waved it in the air out of the window, taunting Shen Hanqian.

Shen Hanqian, with no intention of responding, leaned against her car, waiting for the traffic police to arrive.

The traffic police were surprisingly quick to appear.

"Everyone come here and tell me what happened!" The officer started interrogating as soon as he arrived, but upon seeing Shen Hanqian, his demeanor softened immediately, becoming friendly and gentle. "Sister-in-law, how is it you? Are you okay, were you hit? How about I take you to the hospital for a check-up first?"

The police officer looked Shen Hanqian up and down, very carefully and diligently.

Shen Hanqian hastily cut off his well-meaning intentions, getting straight to the point, "You should take care of the matter at hand first. This lady claims it's my fault!"

The traffic officer once again assumed his authoritative demeanor, pointing towards the tire marks on the ground, "I have seen it clearly already, it is obvious the Honda was at fault for cutting in!"
