Chapter 3 The Object of the Marriage Proposal Turns Out to Be...

"What are you laughing at?"

"I'm laughing because one of you looks like a eunuch, and the other like a bumpkin emperor..." Ning Xia blurted out.

The most feared thing is the sudden silence.

It was only after a moment that Ning Xia, with delayed realization, lifted her head to find her father staring at her as if he wanted to devour her, the great lady and Ning Wei and Ning Xiao looking on with schadenfreude, and her mother's face full of anxious fear.

Bo Siyan's handsome face was devoid of any expression, his sharp gaze swept over her, he hooked his lips up into a smile that wasn't angry but rather sinisterly beautiful.

That smile made Ning Xia's heart thump wildly.

She was doomed, why couldn't she control her own mouth?

To her surprise, Bo Siyan only glanced at her once before shifting his gaze away, his chin lifted high as if his eyes were on top of his head, no longer even glancing at their group.

Ning Xia's hanging heart slowly settled back down, after all, with the Little Overlord's status, he shouldn't stoop to quibble with a nobody like her, she reassured herself.

-

That night at the banquet, Ning Xia was merely a backdrop, and tonight, of course, she was still just a backdrop. Once Ning's father had welcomed Bo Siyan into the house and had him seated on the sofa, he then immediately had Ning Wei sit by his side to pour him tea.

The great lady then took Ning Xiao by the hand to sit to the right of Bo Siyan, while Ning's father sat opposite him, offering all sorts of warm inquiries and pleasantries.

In the only remaining corner spot on the European-style sofa, Ning's mother, although reluctant, could only sit there, then she nudged Ning Xia to step forward, attempting to catch Bo Siyan's attention for her.

Ning Xia curled her lip, her mother really wasn't giving up, but she still cooperated and took a step forward, knowing the Little Overlord had his heart set elsewhere and it was unlikely he'd notice her.

Bo Siyan sat back on the sofa, his posture lazy yet carrying the distinct aura of a military man, compelling others to involuntarily lower their heads in respect.

His dark eyes casually swept around the room, his long fingers lightly tapping the armrest of the chair. His thin lips parted, his voice carrying an enchanting magnetism that was intoxicating, "The young lady saved my life that day..."

Before he could finish, Ning's father interrupted eagerly, "Of course, of course. It was my daughter's honor to save young Master Bo, there's no need for thanks..."

"Did I ask you to speak?" Bo Siyan's brows furrowed slightly, his tone still lazy but with a crushing oppressiveness.

Ning's father immediately fell silent, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

No wonder he was so afraid, for although Bo Siyan was young, he was notoriously ruthless and domineering. Those who followed him prospered while those who opposed him perished.

In all of A Country, people would rather provoke the president than him.

Bo Siyan paused for a few seconds before continuing, "I am a man who repays kindness as well as enmity, and always doubly so. That's why I am here today, to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage."

As expected, it was a marriage proposal.

Upon hearing this, Ning Xia's father and the great lady's eyes sparkled with excitement, and a smile spread across Ning Wei's exquisite face, unable to conceal it, the thrill in her eyes nearly spilling out. Ning Xiao looked at her sister with both envy and jealousy, regretting not having been the one to save young Master Bo.

When Bo Siyan finished speaking, his dark eyes turned in Ning Wei's direction, his chin slightly lifted as he pointed towards her with a gesture, "You."

Ning Wei's cheeks flushed with shy excitement, thrilled beyond measure, she vigorously nodded her head without any guard for decorum, "I am willing, young Master Bo, I am willing..."

"Did I say it was you?"

Bo Siyan coldly interrupted her, his gaze passing over Ning Wei to the corner where Ning Xia stood, "You!"
