Upon hearing the second matter Zhang Mingli spoke of, Gao Ming's eyebrows furrowed. Mrs. Xi's mansion was nearly as large as Mr. Tang's, and both of them were terrifying figures in Zhemeng Town. Ordinary people wouldn't dare provoke them, much less try to ingratiate themselves.
"You really dare to ask!" Gao Ming reached behind him, not for a scroll, but preparatory to pulling out a pig slaughtering knife.
"I know Mrs. Xi's mansion is dangerous, but doesn't that just show my sincerity?" Leaning against the doorframe, Zhang Mingli looked exhausted, as if he hadn't had a good rest in a long time. "I could have easily waited until after deceiving you out of the scroll to tell you the truth, but I didn't. I've been honest about everything and the choice is still yours."
"So am I supposed to praise you now?" The Zhang Mingli in Gao Ming's eyes no longer carried any of a teacher's authority. He never really fit the image of one, and it was anyone's guess what he did for a living.
