The Betrothal

***

An hour later

Old Madam Stunder couldn't help but show her sincere apologies for Maisie after seeing Zachary get back in shape after her arrival.

She walked up to Maisie with a guilty expression and bowed deeply.

"Maisie, I'm sorry for what I did to you. At the time, I thought you didn't know medicine, and I also thought that you deceived my grandson. So, I panicked and thought you would ruin Zachy's health. It's all my fault for doubting you, so please blame me for everything. I'm willing to make amends; you can hit me or scold me; it doesn't matter."

She spoke, and tears fell from her eyes, showing her sincerity.

Maisie was dissatisfied to hear old Madam put herself down like that. In her mind, respect for elders was important.

If her parents didn't die, she would have an elder at home as well. So, she was embarrassed.
