Chapter 11: The lights problem.

The wedding started and guests were coming. After some time, the hall was full of people. Drinking, eating, dancing, and enjoying their time. Things that were expected and everyone was preparing for. At a corner Johan and David were standing, checking if everything was all right, and that no problem was arising.

This is what I live for. Why I love my job.

Said Johan with a happy expression that shouted satisfaction.

You love your job, Johan.

Yes, see those people enjoying their time, putting all their worries, work, and problems aside and purely enjoying their time. That is what I want to see. Happy people who only enjoy their time.

But isn't that problematic?

Well, it is. Because life can't always be simple and vivid. Living is doing different things and experiencing different events. Being happy, sad, hurt, healing, coming together and separation. But what is most important is keeping one's heart happy and young. When life puts stones in your way you laugh at it and start climbing. While knowing you have to climb it and endure pain.

I get what you are saying. But it isn't as easy as it is said.

That's why we have friends and family. You know at one point I thought if one has God in their life that person will never be sad. But, later in life, I noticed while God alone can bring joy and happiness to life humans still need each other. That is why every living being has a society and they communicate. Be it animals or humans.

Hehe, that is because you don't know me well. Ah, that makes me sad. The person I see as a brother doesn't know me well.

Hey, it is not like that. I was just joking.

As Johan started moving he turned his head and winked. David saying that shouted:

Really? Do you never go without taking your revenge?

No, I always take it.

After that, Johan and David separated to check the wedding and see if there was a problem with anything. Johan to the kitchen while David went to check on the band. After some time, David came across Khatoon and asked:

Is everything all right?

Yes, everything is fine and neat. This place is also very good, and everything is good.

I know that is because someone is a workaholic.

Khatoon looks at David with a confused face. But David continues talking.

Putting that aside. Is there anything you need?

Khatoon thinks for a second and replies:

No, everything is in place and organized. So much so that I think my checking is pointless.

It is not pointless; we are not perfect, so it helps us to have someone pointing out our faults to us. By the way whose wedding are you celebrating today?

It is my cousin's. you remember my uncle earlier. It's his son's wedding.

Yes, we were close. As I told you my parents were mostly at work so most of the time we went to our uncle's house and our cousin played with us a lot.

How much older is he?

He is 5 years older than me.

While Khatoon and David were talking a wire got cut and after a few clashes of wires, the hall lights were destroyed. Which caused a commotion in the hall. David being inexperienced didn't know what to do. So, he ordered some new lights. Johan hearing the commotion went to the hall and asked David:

What happened? Why are the lights off?

Because of short circuits lights were destroyed. I already told them to bring the spare lights.

That won't help even with the spare lights it will take time to re-install them.

What should we do then?

Johan after some thought told David:

Tell them to bring the candles. At least 50.

Okay, I will go then.

While David went to get the candles, Johan went on stage took the mic, and said:

Everyone, what do you say about a dance of the bride and groom?

Everyone looking at Johan confused.

What is this person saying? Is probably all of you saying. But it doesn't sound bad. We will turn candles around the stage and have a romantic dance of the bride and groom. How does sound?

Johan remark lightens the mood a little and people nod as a sign of agreeing. Then Johan continues.

So, the band will perform a calm song and firstly we will have the bride and groom dance. After the first song, any other couple that wants to join them can come to the stage. Ah man, I think the hospitals will have a busy schedule 9 months after tonight.

Everyone laughs at Johan's joke and while Johan is talking the candles arrive and everything is set on stage. then the band starts playing for the couple and after they finish more people start joining them. While everyone was having a lovely time David and their staff put the new lights in their places. But even after the lights were set they weren't turned on as Johan ordered. the band played 5 songs and people took a turn after every song and danced with their companions. David said to Johan:

Why did you not let us turn the lights on?

Remember I told you I want people to be happy?

Yes.

People were enjoying the candles more than the lights that is why I said to not turn them on.

But, we could have just turned their brightness lower.

It is not about the brightness. It is more about the feeling that the candles give.

I see, no wonder you are the boss.

Hey, stop with that.

But I am sorry. It was due to my lack of experience.

It is not like that. Unexpected things can always happen. We don't know everything always and can't predict the future and what will occur in the future. We can just be prepared for unexpected events and know how to talk to keep the masses calm.

I will take note of that.

But your decision-making was also good. Why don't you take my work as the boss?

So that you can just laze around? No, I am satisfied with my job.

Johan laughs following him David also starts laughing.

It seems I can't start my lazy life yet.

No, you can't. What happened to all that speech you gave me earlier?

Well…

Johan scratches his head and makes a small laugh.

Everyone has things they like. Mine just happens to be on different sides.

David looks at Johan with a blank expression. Johan says:

Don't look at me like that.

David continues staring. Johan takes a deep breath and says:

Okay, I will keep working.

After that David smiles and says:

That is more like you.

You know you can. Be mean sometimes.

Really? I didn't know.

After that, the event goes on without a problem and the night ends with people happily going and always remembering this night as a memorable night through their lives.
