Samantha

"What's your full name?" Sharon asked the brunette girl as she sat in the interrogation room.

"Samantha Jean Lane."

"Where did you get your powers?"

"I've had them for as long as I can remember," Samantha noted as Sharon raised her brow.

"So the Coven didn't do this to you?" Sharon was less aggressive, more confused.

"What is the Coven?" Samantha's voice was shaky.

"So you weren't his real target, you were just caught in the crossfire?" Sharon ignored Samantha's question trying to piece together the puzzle on her own.

"Sounds like it was Bailey Annison that was supposed to be his real target," Patten walked into the room. "Did you say you always had powers?"

"Yes," Samantha said looking at the ground nervously. "My dad says I've had them since I was little. They come and go. They flare up really bad when my emotions go awry, and with all the attacks lately, I've been a little on edge."

"That makes sense to me," Patten sat down across next to Sharon, sliding a glass of water over to Samantha. "So what happened in the commons?"

"I was walking back from the library and that girl came out of nowhere!" Samantha explained. "My powers just went off, I had no control over it. I didn't mean to hurt anyone, I feel like such a monster," her voice trailed off, and she began sobbing.

"You're not a monster Ms. Lane," Sharon said. "You're just having a really bad day, and we're going to try and help you."

"So now there's something called the Book of Shadows to go with Shadowfury and Coven?" Coulson asked. "I'm not gonna lie, this is starting to sound like some kind of gothic daydream."

"At least you're not the one fighting the crazy ninja," Mick rolled his eyes.

Coulson opened the large metal doors of the swat vehicle. "Also, do you always let your friends just take your suit like that?"

"I didn't get much of a choice in the matter," Mick looked down at his hoodie and frowned.

"I really think you kids have it out for me with the amount of paperwork I'm going to have to do," Coulson said shaking his head.

"Good to see you both made it safely," Sharon was leaning on the door, waiting for Mick and Coulson to arrive. "Looks like we have an 0-8-4 with Ms. Lane."

"What does that mean?" Mick asked as he looked between Coulson and Sharon.

"Explain," Coulson said as Sharon led them inside.

"Ms. Lane seems to have had ice powers long before the Coven intervened," Sharon explained.

"How can that be?" Mick continued to question only for the two of them to pretend he didn't exist.

"Have you contacted Alan Lane to let him know we have his daughter?" Coulson asked as Sharon nodded. "Perfect. Two enhanced individuals under one roof. This can't go wrong at all."

"Guess I'll leave you guys to it," Mick stopped trying to keep up with Sharon and Coulson as they continued speaking SHIELD jargon. He noticed Samantha sitting in a chair in a small room by herself, staring out the window longingly. "Hey, you're Samantha, right?"

"Yeah," she turned to see Mick's face for the first time, recognizing the hoodie he wore. "You can call me Sam if you want," she shrugged, turning back to the window.

"I'm glad you're safe," Mick said as Sam shook her head. "I know it doesn't feel like it. SHIELD can feel a little unwelcoming."

"You're not safe in here with me," Sam said as her voice cracked, Mick realizing she'd been sitting in here crying.

"I'm not scared of your powers. I'm like you," Mick said as he pulled up his sleeve, showing her the web marks on his wrists. "It took me a few weeks to learn how to control them. It was really messy. Honestly, the harder part was the strength, but that's kind of fading a bit."

"Why are you trying to be so nice to me?" Sam turned to Mick with tears in her eyes. "While they might not say it, everyone else here looks at me like I'm dangerous."

"Maybe you are," Mick knelt down near her. "To them. To me, I know how you feel. I've been there. I want to help you learn to control it."

Sam looked at him, tears mingled with a half smile. He wasn't sure what it was about her, but she drew him in. She was different like him. She was stuck with powers, which meant he wasn't alone anymore. He reached over and brushed a tear from her cheek and smiled at her.

"Don't worry, you're not alone anymore," Mick said with a smile, the two locking eyes. She tilted her head, her green eyes drew him in. His heart raced. She leaned toward him, and he wasn't sure how it happened, but she was wrapped in his arms and they were kissing.

The two jumped apart as someone cleared their throat, and standing in the doorway was Sharon Carter. "I can give you a few minutes," she said as Mick felt his face burning red with embarrassment.

"Er, we were just," Mick stammered, unsure of where that sentence was even going to end.

"I kissed him," Sam said as Davis spat his drink out as he paused behind Sharon.

"Wait, what happened?" Davis coughed.

"Get in here, we need to figure out the best plan to get ahead of Shadowfury and the Coven," Sharon said sharply, then shoved Davis who kept trying to peak at Mick and Sam who were still quite embarrassed.

"Coming," Mick grumbled.

"Sorry," Sam apologized. "I hope I didn't mess things up with you guys."

"Her and I?" Mick shook his head, waving his hands. "No. We're just partners, nothing more. She actually scares the life out of me." Hearing those words must've soothed Sam's mind a bit, as she smiled affectionately at Mick. He wasn't sure why, but seeing that smile on her face made his heart flutter. He bit his lip as he started down the hallway in the direction Sharon had gone.

It was a rather large living room, set up with a few laptops on TV dinner trays. There were a few SHIELD agents sitting and monitoring things, and some walking in and out of the kitchen area. Davis, Jerren, and Patten were all sitting on the couch, whispering to each other as Mick walked in. Mick was sure Davis was running his mouth about the kiss. Sharon however, was leaning on the wall near the entrance.

"So, care to explain that?"

"What?" Mick tried to play dumb.

"You kissed the emotionally unstable girl who could turn you into a popcicle."

"It wasn't something I was planning to do," Mick looked at the floor. "I went in there just trying to be nice."

"Right," Sharon playfully shoved him. "She seemed to think it was pretty nice too."

"If you two are finished I'd like to get this meeting started," Coulson said as he stepped in from the kitchen, his eyes focused on Mick and Sharon who snapped to attention.

"So we have been keeping tabs on these four girls," Coulson started as four girls faces appeared in the form of a blue hologram from an orb in his hand. "Alice Wallace, 16. Amelia Denny, 17. Renee Holt, 16. And Amber Bruer, 17. All four of these girls call themselves the Coven, are are believed to have a dangerous artifact known as the Book of Shadows. From the intel we've gathered it's able to grant wishes that corrupt and control the individual to an extent, such as granting super human powers, skills, or intelligence."

"There's also another threat, codenamed: Shadowfury. We do not have the real name of this individual, only the knowledge that they are a student of the local school much like Mr. Bellouve and his friends. This individual dresses like a ninja, has enhanced speed and strength on par with Mr. Bellouve, but he has no qualms with striking his opponents down in cold blood. We do not want to kill anyone, we want them all brought in alive," Coulson stated as Mick looked at him curiously.

"You know where they are?" Mick blurted out.

"It was really good thinking of you to send in Mr. Brent to chase after the Coven, when you went after the ninja and Ms. Lane," Coulson complemented Mick. Mick looked at Patten who winked and smiled. "There's an abandoned church right not far from where Ms. Bruer lives, it's where the girls have been holding their special meetings. Go figure, witches in an abandoned church."

"What about them?" Mick pointed at Jerren and Davis.

"They'll be safe here with Ms. Lane. There's five of us going out in the field," Coulson stated, then turned to point. "Agent Ramirez," he pointed to a woman dark haired woman who smiled at with a nod. "Agent Reese," he pointed to a thin man with a face full of hair. "And of course you know Agent Carter, myself, and then you." Coulson looked around the room as if he were seeing if anyone more questions would arise. "We're rolling out in ten minutes."

"Better say your goodbyes," Sharon teased and she nudged Mick and made kissing faces.
