Adrielle Ammar Louis.

"How could you misplace something of great value." My grandma scolded me.

"I'll get it tomorrow" I said bluntly. Walking out on her.

"Adrielle Ammar Louis " She called my full name, making me stop mid track.

"Seems you've forgotten about the dangers that bracelet can cause to mortals". She said, standing up from her seat.

"Grandma, I'll get it tomorrow. Nothing is going to go wrong..."

"You shouldn't underestimate the power of the bracelet of doom!"

She yelled, cutting me mid sentence. And silence took the whole castle.

I stared blankly at her, for a while. I clearly understood what she said, and I wasn't up for any arguments

So I just turned around, and walked up the spiral stairs.

...

I'm Adrielle Ammar Louis. That's the full name. I'm way older than you think in a nineteen years old body.

Not an orphan, like it's widely assumed. But I live with my grandma.

And trust me she's about seven hundred years old, but in a thirty years old body.

And she doesn't seem to grow older.

And she doesn't look like she's about to give up her responsibilities any time soon.

Our mansion is situated out town, away from the crowd and, chaotic the world of mortals.

Our kind is at peace with earthlings.

And don't plan on breaching that anytime soon.

I bet that's why misplacing the small bracelet, is seen as a huge threat.

Walking into my room, the familar smell of blend of musky, earthy undertones with a hint of old wood and leather—like the aroma of an ancient library, hit my nose.

With a touch of incense lingering, adding a mysterious and exotic fragrance to the atmosphere. One could sniff out a faint metallic tang, reminiscent of iron or blood, enhancing the room's ambiance.....

Exhaling I headed for bed.

I wasn't going to sleep now, I have a lot of reading to do.

I'm preparing for an Academy exams.

And our guide, "Mrs Perturia" gave us clues . That the questions would be created from, books earthlings wrote about us.

And that's what took me to the library earlier today.

There wasn't much people around, and I wasn't actually expecting Mia to be there.

Although I considered myself lucky, if it wasn't for her, I'd have to spend all night at the school searching for a damm book.

I pulled out my phone from my pocket.

Opening my Instagram page.

I saw an unread message and it was from, Mia.

"Yeah, sure."

I could just go to her house, tonight to get the bracelet.

Why do I have to wait for the next day.

C'mon, sometimes we have to break the rules. Besides it would be fun, to sneak on humans once in a while.

That's it.

"I'll be in her room tonight".

I thought to myself, a smirk forming on my face.

I just have to wait till she's asleep. And oh yeah, I already know her house address. I literally know every student house address in my school...

And some, I know their family secrets. I have not just been interested in knowing anything about Mia.

And I'm still not interested. Most times is best to leave things the way they are.

I stood up and walked to my desk.

If I wanna mess around tonight, I better read with the few hours I have.

*******

I checked my watch, it was 2:45am.

I'll be honest, humans don't know a shit about us...

But somehow the theories created about us, are both amusing and interesting to read.

I've been so engrossed in my book, I almost forgot about my tiny, harmless plan.

I'll take my bath first.....

Dressed in black, a black cargo, and a black-T. My silky black, short hair, combed to the back. And my black Nike Air Jordan. I looked like any normal human.

Stepping out into the shimmering night. My black hair glistened under the moonlight.

I turned around, looking at my house one more time.

I walked slowly out of the woods, taking my time and enjoying the calmness of the night.

Once outside, like a flick of the finger, I was at the bus stop, where I picked her yesterday.

My fleet footed characteristics made that as simple as a breeze.

Her house wasn't far, from the bus stop. And since am breaking in. I can't just go knocking on someone's door by this time.

Taking a huge leap, I landed on Mia's balcony.

And as I expected it was open. "So predictable." I thought to myself.

I opened the door as quietly as possible and once in, I headed for her closet.

"It's in the black short she wore yesterday."

I muttered to myself as I went through the shorts she folded on one side of the drawer.

"Where's it?" I groaned as I went through the other section of the clothes . I saw the top she wore, where the hell did she then keep the shorts.

I didn't want to use the blood method to find the bracelet. It would harm her.

So whatever I do, I have to use every human possible option, and that is to search for it .

Well, after a thorough search, it's confirmed.

The shorts isn't here.

I walked towards her bed. It's time I checked her drawers.

One after the other, I opened each drawers but there was no shorts.

"Fuck, I expected this to be way easier." I said with a sigh.

I looked around. Closet checked....

Laundry basket checked....

Drawers checked....

I then realized her bed frame also had drawers....

"What the hell..."

Definitely, the shorts is going to be in one of the drawers.

I was sure of it, I could perceived the strong metallic stench of blood, that's was in the bracelet.

I was very quiet, this time. I slowly opened the drawer.

One was filled with alot of journals, diaries, filter pens, stick note, bla bla....

I locked it back.

Opening the second one... "There you are."

I said, smiling to myself. There was the short neatly folded and separated from the others.

Putting my hands in the pocket. I could feel the bead, soften inside my palm.

You know that feeling when you find your missing puppy?.....

Slipping the bracelet into my wrists. I quietly closed the drawer.

"What the fuck" Mia's sleepy voice, rang inside my head.

As the lights came on suddenly..

"Fuck...Am busted..." I mumbled. Raising my head up...

There she was seated on the bed. And then our eyes locked.

"Prince!!!!" She half yelled, her eyes widening with shock.

Before I could respond to any thing. I felt something cold dripping down my hands.

Glancing at it. It was my bracelet.

"No,nooooo .... This isn't anything I wished for..oh fuckkkk.". My inner thoughts screamed.

"What's going on?" She asked, looking all lost, I could see the fear in her eyes when she saw my wrist.

"This is all a bad dream... You're going to forget everything you saw..."

I said, hypnotizing her, I didn't want to use my powers but I'm forced to at the moment.

"What did i say?" I asked , staring deep into her eyes, as mine changed into the darkest shade of red.

"It's all a bad dream..." She said in a sleepy tone, slowly falling back to her bed.

"Good girl" I said as soon as she slept off.

I glanced at my wrist, the blood was been sucked up into the beads again.

Sighing, I swiftly left the room.

I'm never making such a dumb mistake again.
