The Full Month

The day after the Oscars, Ren flew back to Beijing. He turned down all interviews, including those from CCTV, and declined all invitations, deciding to take a good two-day rest at home.

To be honest, he had been feeling quite tense before. Now that everything was over, he could finally relax.

After all, even though Jada hadn't mentioned it, she had likely spent a lot of money on the campaign. If Ren hadn't won the award, he wouldn't just feel like he had let down the amazing works from his previous life; he would have also felt like he had let down his wife.

Now that he had won, Ren was able to enjoy regular meals, watch TV, occasionally play games, go to bed early, get up early, and even run a few kilometers in the morning—this was what he considered the right way to live.

However, after just a few days of rest, Ren found himself too busy to think about anything else.

The house was lively and decorated, with family and friends invited over, including Yueyue's little friends and their parents.

But it wasn't to celebrate the Oscars or any other festival. The reason was that Ren's son, Ruier, had just turned one month old.

On this special day, Yueyue was dressed in a tiny platelets outfit from Ren's manga *Cells at Work!*. She held a little flag and had a silent whistle in her mouth as she led her friends to see the baby.

And believe it or not, she really did look as cute as the platelets from the manga.

"Wow, is this the baby?"

"So cute!"

"I want my mom and dad to have a baby brother or sister too!"

The group of little kids chattered away, eager to hold the baby.

But Yueyue quickly stopped them, just like when the platelets in *Cells at Work!* gave instructions to others in episode two. She began to instruct her friends:

"Don't make loud noises. Wash your hands before touching the baby. And no holding the baby without permission."

And, of course, the most important rule…

"Hand over the entrance fee!"

"Oh…" The little kids obediently took out a pile of snacks and handed them to Yueyue.

Her eyes lit up with joy, narrowing into little slits. She was so clever to think of this way to get more snacks.

Sure, there were plenty of snacks at home, but somehow, eating someone else's snacks just tasted better.

"Yueyue…"

Suddenly, Yueyue felt something heavy on her head, like something pressing down, and she heard a voice from behind, as if coming from the depths of the abyss.

"M-Mom?" Yueyue stammered without turning around. She knew exactly who was behind her. "W-What is it?"

"Who told you to collect an entrance fee?" Jada asked with a not-so-genuine smile, looking down at her daughter. "Do you think your little brother is an animal exhibit? And who said anything about not feeding him?"

"…?"

After a second of silence, Yueyue pointed toward the baby's crib, suddenly worried. "Mom, is there a bug on the baby's bed?"

"Huh?" Jada instinctively looked over. "No, there isn't… wait—"

Before she could finish, she felt Yueyue slip out of her grasp like a little monkey. Turning around, she saw her daughter racing upstairs faster than usual, quickly reaching her room and slamming the door shut.

"That girl…" Jada muttered, shaking her head in exasperation. "But you can't escape me!"

Then, she turned to the other kids who were still waiting and smiled. "Alright, you can take your snacks back and go see the baby. But remember, no holding him. And if Yueyue tries to use her brother to get things from you again, come straight to me! I'll let you see the baby anytime!"

"Yay! You're the best, Auntie!"

The kids cheered, thrilled by Jada's generosity.

After the celebration, the guests each took home four red-dyed eggs, and the baby received many toys, flowers, and other gifts.

Naturally, Yueyue had the most fun that day. Although she initially worried her mom would scold her, she soon realized her mom seemed to have forgotten all about it.

During the event, Ren's parents were also full of laughter. After all, it was their grandson's full month celebration, which meant the baby was growing up. Every milestone brought joy to the grandparents.

But along with the joy came a tinge of sadness. After all, every milestone also reminded them that they were getting older. They wondered if they would live to see their grandchildren grow up, get married, and perhaps even experience the joy of having four generations under one roof…

After the guests left, Ren and Jada wearily retreated upstairs, longing for a moment of peace and quiet.

Jada had officially finished her confinement period and was feeling much better. Today, she had even swapped her heavy confinement clothes for a light nightgown.

As for the baby, he was left in the care of Ren's parents. Soon, they would be returning to their hometown, as they couldn't keep their pets at their neighbor's house indefinitely.

Even though Ren and Jada tried to persuade them to stay, the elderly couple was determined to go back.

"Honey, I don't have to stay home all the time now. If I go out, what should I do?" Jada asked excitedly, eager to breathe fresh air after being cooped up for a month.

"Whatever you want to do, go do it!" Ren said with a smile, holding Jada close. "Shopping, buying clothes, whatever makes you happy."

"Well…" Jada started, but before she could finish, she felt something brush against her. She looked up at Ren.

And as if they were thinking the same thing, Ren looked down at her. Their eyes met, and slowly, their faces inched closer until they kissed.

"Mmm…"

At that moment, they both savored the intimacy.

How long had it been since they'd shared a moment like this? Nearly a year, it seemed, with the only time they got close interrupted by some cosmic force, leaving it unresolved to this day.

Now, after holding back for so long, they shared a deep, passionate kiss, only stopping when Jada was slightly out of breath. They parted, smiling at each other.

"Finally, we can do what couples do," Ren laughed.

In the next moment, Jada watched in surprise as Ren swiftly removed his clothes, the fluidity of his movements leaving her speechless.

For some reason, a blush crept across Jada's cheeks. Her eyes sparkled with a hint of teasing as she bit her lip and whispered, "I could have done this sooner. It's just that you were too worried."
