The Unfair Blame

"Hmph, big meanies!"

In her room, Yueyue lay on her bed, reading a comic book and occasionally taking a bite of a sweet potato snack from a nearby bag. After all, she hadn't finished her dinner earlier, and now her stomach was growling with hunger. But there was no way she would go out and ask her parents to make her something—doing that would mean she lost! Even though she wasn't quite sure what she'd be losing.

"All they care about is my brother, brother, brother! He's no good at all!" Yueyue fumed as she climbed off the bed. She looked over at Little White, who was lying nearby, and without asking if he minded, she picked him up and rubbed her cheek against his fur. "Little White, why don't you be my little brother? We don't need that other brother!"

Just then, she heard the door to her room click open, signaling that someone was coming in. The only people who could open her door were those two big meanies!

Deep down, Yueyue was happy. This meant that her parents still cared about her, right? Part of her wanted to run into their arms and tell them all about her feelings. But then she thought about how they wouldn't know just how angry she was if she did that! So she decided against it.

With that thought, Yueyue set Little White down on the floor and sat on the edge of her bed, turning her back to the door. She crossed her arms, trying to look as upset as possible.

By this time, Ren had already walked into the room. He saw Yueyue sitting with her back to him and noticed the sweet potato snacks on the bed. He couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

"Oh, it looks like someone's hungry," Ren said, pretending to talk to himself. "To make up for a certain someone, Daddy cooked some really tasty food, you know."

Ren knew his little girl well. He immediately targeted her weakness—food!

After a pause, he added, "Like cola chicken wings, potato croquettes, and even a little cake later on~."

Cake!! Cola chicken wings?!

Yueyue's face, which was turned away, showed her hesitation. She even swallowed a bit of saliva, almost running over to her dad.

But she held back! She needed to show her parents just how angry she was!

With a soft humph, Yueyue raised her head high, showing how unimpressed she was with her dad's offer.

Oh? Ren raised an eyebrow, surprised that Yueyue had resisted the temptation of food. It seemed like she was really upset this time.

Thinking this over, Ren walked over to the bed and sat down beside her. Yueyue shot him a displeased glance and scooted away. Ren, in turn, scooted closer to her.

Back and forth they went until finally, Yueyue was squished against the wall.

She pouted and snapped, "What are you doing?!"

"Sigh, Daddy worked so hard to make all this yummy food, but no one wants to eat it. Daddy is so sad~," Ren said, pretending to be hurt, but feeling a bit pleased that Yueyue was finally talking to him.

"Hmph, then just give it to your precious son!" Yueyue huffed.

"No way, this food is only for jealous little girls in elementary school~."

"Who's jealous..."

*Pfft~*

Before Yueyue could finish denying it, she accidentally let out a fart. Both she and Ren froze.

The room was suddenly filled with an awkward silence.

"Ew! That stinks!" Ren tried to hold back, but the smell was just too much. He quickly rushed to the window to let in some fresh air.

He couldn't believe that such a cute and clean little girl could produce something so foul! So much for the myth that little girls don't fart—turns out, the internet lies!

As he thought about this, Ren looked back at Yueyue. She was sitting on the bed, her head hanging low. Although she wasn't saying anything, Ren could guess how she felt. Farting in front of someone else, especially such a stinky one, was embarrassing. Even rowdy little boys would be embarrassed in this situation, let alone a little girl whose pride was at an all-time high.

Seeing his daughter looking so defeated, Ren cleared his throat.

"I get it. Eating sweet potatoes and farting is totally normal—"

"It wasn't me..."

Ren hadn't even finished his sentence when Yueyue interrupted, muttering softly.

"What was that?"

"It wasn't me!" Yueyue suddenly shouted, lifting her head with her face flushed red and tears welling up in her eyes. She looked like she was on the verge of bursting into tears.

To prevent that from happening, Ren quickly nodded and said, "Right, right, it wasn't you. It was Little White!"

"Woof?"

Little White, who had been lying quietly on the floor, suddenly lifted his head and looked in Ren's direction, as if to say, "I'm not human, but you're really mean!"

"Yes! It was Little White!" Yueyue eagerly nodded, seizing the opportunity to shift the blame.

Little White barked twice, then kicked his back legs in Ren and Yueyue's direction, as if expressing his displeasure. Then he trotted out of the room.

He couldn't stay there any longer! This little dog had already endured more than his fair share of unjust blame.

If the sky fell down next, who knew if this untrustworthy father and daughter pair wouldn't push the blame on him again!

Downstairs, Little White found a spot next to the baby's crib and lay down, deciding that human babies were truly the cutest humans in the world!

Upstairs, although Yueyue had managed to pin the blame on Little White for now, her stomach still felt uneasy. Suddenly, another loud fart echoed in the room.

She instinctively looked for Little White, but realized he was nowhere to be found. Then she looked at her dad.

Even though Ren kept a straight face, it seemed to Yueyue like he was silently laughing at her, which made her eyes well up with tears again.

In a voice full of resignation and on the brink of tears, Yueyue confessed, "It was me! I farted, okay?!"

But just as she admitted it, another fart sound echoed.

Yueyue looked at Ren in disbelief.
