Chapter 6

"You are awake." A voice that did not sound impressed spoke, as Renata opened her eyes. She saw her father looking down toward her face with a look of disappointment and displeasure.

Renata set up and sat against the headboard, "Father." That's the only word she could utter 'father'; it is said that, this man loves her because of how he protects her even though she is useless but according to her, the disappointment is more clear than it was in her previous life.

She silently pondered, would it not be better to leave this house and family, to fend for myself. Alas she was not able to do that, she was still unaccustomed to this new reality and she was not sure how she would survive, she neither had gold or spirit stones in her possession. After all her monthly allowance was not enough to survive in this new world, as the eldest daughter you would think she had unlimited access to money but unfortunately she did not.

She was entirely dependent on her father, since she was useless it was determined that it would be a waste to give her too much gold or spirit stones especially the spirit stones, as she could barely feel the energy within them. Thus resources were limited, Renata felt a slight ping to her heart as she thought of her predicament.

She wasted time wallowing in self pity, instead of taking charge of her life. She could blame fate but that would be unfair since it gave her a second chance and there's still that mission mentioned by the system of saving the family.

Renata was in a dilemma on how she was supposed to achieve this goal and if that mission depended on her surviving in this world than she had no choice but to find a solution to her problems.

It would have been great if I had been reborn with better veins and a different family but beggars cannot be choosers, Renata thought to herself as she spaced out thinking of a solution. "Did you hear what I said?" An angry voice resounded to her ears.

She had forgotten about her father who was standing in front of her, she did not hear anything he had just said. Renata looked down and then up again as she tried to find her words. A deep sigh was let out by her father, "I said, do you have objections with your engagement with Killian."

Without thinking Renata blared out a, "Yes." before she could catch her tongue. "Why?" Her father asked in confusion, the girl had always been in love with that boy. Even the boy was sincere to her, disregarding the fact she was useless in cultivation but still wanted to take her as a dao partner.

As Raanan thought about it, he doubted any man in the cultivation world would accept her and it would be a hit to their family's reputation if she married a mortal. He did not see the reason for her refusal after all she had no other prospects, she could not be the head of the family in future considering her cultivation so what other options did she have if not to accept.

As he looked at his daughter face, which was now looking halfway upwards. In her eyes held fear, confusion, panic but the most surprising was determination.
