Regan spent the time in Iris's bedroom. It was large, with two comfortable beds, tall glass windows colored in blue and plain walls. She didn't sleep at all, although Iris told her that she should sleep. She stayed clutched in her seat and thought about her messed up state. Her mind drowned in her past mistakes and she wondered what would've happened if she hadn't messed with Agnar's affair or if she hadn't even left Silvertide. Would it have been better? There was a deep revenge burning inside her, longing to make them all pay, everyone who wronged her. She hoped that the matter with the vampire, wouldn't escalate further. Her fists clenched when she remembered about that claim thing and everything linked to it. Regan loathed it and it made it difficult for her to breathe. She glanced out of the windows, but they weren't very transparent. She wondered what was happening behind her back, maybe so many things, maybe she was on the hunt to be killed or something else. The thoughts made her shiver and tremble. She didn't want to be afraid and terrified of them. She didn't want to seem small. Finally, she stood up from the bed and approached a mirror. She stared at her reflection, her messy hair, her tired eyes and the dark circles under them. Not that she cared about it, but it served to bring her determination to fight. After all, she wasn't guilty. Whatever she had done, she did it from the wish for justice.Suddenly, Iris entered the room and she flinched a little."Hey Cornelia, are you alright? If you need anything, you can always tell me," she assured."I want to fight them. I want to get rid of them." Regan retorted, determination burning through her."I understand. I know how revenge feels. But yours seems way broader. I understand you don't want to tell, but it's better if you let it out." Iris said, sitting on the bed."I'd want to tell you more, but it's worthless," Regan shook her head. "It doesn't matter. What matters, is that I want to finish this.""And I'm more than eager to do the same. You know, me and Jack are childhood friends. Since our land got colonized, we've always wanted to get revenge from Sirius, even though we have never seen him. But you seem to know much more than we do, so... You should lead the way. We're going to plan everything together. And we're going to defeat them, no matter what." Iris said, her determination clear.Regan was a bit reluctant for the leading role, but she felt a sort of relief in having someone to trust. She nodded slowly, taking a deep breath and finally exhaling. "Okay," she said, her voice shaky but determined, "We'll do this together. We'll take them down."Iris smiled at her, giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. "That's the spirit. We'll start by gathering information, finding out everything we can about them. Then we'll plan our moves. And trust me, we're going to do this."Regan's expression turned thoughtful for a moment. She remembered when Iris had told her that she lived with her family in the North, but it seemed like Jack was her only roommate."You said you live with your family... is it just you and Jack?" she asked, slightly hesitantly."Well, no. My parents and siblings work a lot, so they rarely come home. They trust Jack to take care of me and vice versa. Jack's family, well... they're not close. He's an only child, and his parents... well, let's just say they have a different view of things than we do." Iris paused, looking away for a moment before continuing."Anyway, I know Jack has your back, just like I have yours. No matter what we have to do, we'll do it together. Jack is lazy and laid back but he's got a good heart." She smiled reassuringly.Regan nodded, feeling slightly better. Then, another thought hit her, "Iris, do you have magical powers?""Magical powers?" Iris repeated, tilting her head. "Oh, you mean magic? Well, not really. I don't. Neither does Jack. It depends, we're not from a magical family. Most from the South aren't." She paused for a moment."But we can still fight them, you know. We have our own skills and abilities. Jack is good with weapons and I'm good with my fists. We can train together and get stronger. And we'll find allies. We're not alone in wanting to get rid of them. There are others who have suffered under their rule, and we'll find them. Together, we can make a difference.""I know we can," Regan replied."What about you, Cornelia? Do you have powers?" Iris asked, the curiosity getting the best of her."Yes, I do. I have fire powers." Regan replied. She didn't want to brag or anything but she felt it was better to tell them now. They would be fighting against enemies who were probably much stronger than them. It was better if they knew about her powers."That's really cool." Iris said, seemingly impressed. "You can control fire? That's amazing! Show me some kind of spell, if you don't mind.""I don't mind." Regan smiled. She focused on her fire and small flames danced on her thin fingers. Iris watched in awe and put her hands on her cheeks."That's incredible!" she exclaimed. "You really can control fire! This is-this is going to be so useful. You can't even imagine how much this will help us in our fight against Sirius. You're going to be such an asset, Cornelia.""Thanks." Regan replied, feeling a little more confident. "I'll do my best to help us win.""Of course you will," Iris said, clapping her hands together. "Now, the next day, we're going to start. You can also tell us where to start from. You seem to know him better than anyone else."Regan's expression turned thoughtful. What did she know after all? She knew all the worst things she thought about him."We'll work on it," she managed to say.Iris nodded and went inside another neon green colored door. Regan sighed, glancing around the room. There was a desk across, it was pink in color and the keyboard was glued to the table. It was flashing in neon lights. On the top of the desk was a rectangle flat device similar to a tablet. She didn't want to see it, although she was drained by curiosity.Iris stepped out from the other room, now wearing a set of white pyjamas, showcasing her tan skin."I suggest you to sleep. If you're looking to change, you can wear my clothes. But you should sleep, Cornelia. Jack always says that he can't think when he doesn't sleep." Iris said, as she crawled on her bed, covering herself with the blankets."Thanks. I'll see." Regan replied. But she knew she couldn't sleep. Not when she was on search danger. She waited in her spot, making sure that Iris fell asleep. She walked over to the desk and took a look at the tablet. It's screen was black. The moment she touched it, it showed a hologram of a map. That was what she thought. She waved her hand through the hologram, trying to dismiss it. But it didn't work."That's cool." she murmured to herself. She didn't know how to use it nonetheless. On the other side of the table there were a pair of blue transparent glasses.Cautiously, she put them on and saw that the map had appeared in the lenses. It was as if the map was floating in the air, hovering in front of her. The map showed the territory. She had no idea what to do and she tried to unfocus her close up vision. Random, but it worked. She didn't know if she was just hallucinating, but the map was outstretched to the horizon, as if it was endless. Finally, it turned to a planet and then to a galaxy, and then to something that looked like a multiverse. It was too much for her.She took off the glasses and put them on the desk, looking at them in disbelief. "What the...?" she muttered. She felt dizzy and a little nauseous. The glasses must have been some sort of augmented reality device. It was way too advanced for her to understand. She sat down on the bed, trying to not wake Iris up. She was grateful about her and hoped that they would never turn as she turned with Vesper. The thought made her shiver. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. The glasses were still there, taunting her. She reached out and took them again, this time trying to focus on a specific spot of the map. She tried to unfocus as and this time it zoomed out as before, just that it showed the unreadable name of the planets. She placed the glasses on the bedside table and leaned back against the bed. Her cloak was making her feel uncomfortable, so she took it off and folded it neatly before slipping under the covers. As she took it off, she realized it was dirty. After all, she hadn't change at all, she was kept in a dungeon and the least she was thinking were her clothes. She didn't want to wake Iris up and didn't want to annoy her. So, she tried to stay as quiet and still as possible, forgetting about her uncomfortable clothes. The image of Sirius floated in her mind and she couldn't shake him off. She felt as she felt on earth, where he haunted her.She wanted to go back there. Maybe it wasn't better, maybe it was worse, it wasn't her real home, but it was familiar, it was where she had lived. She closed her eyes and he invaded her mind again. She felt a sharp pain in her temples and her head hurt. Whenever she thought about him, it did.She didn't know why she felt guilty. She remembered when he told her he freed her from the cellar. He didn't want her to die in someone else's hands."So, you want to kill me yourself.... You want to be the one who gets rid of me." She mumbled. She noticed Iris shifting from her position and quickly feared if she woke her up. She decided to shut her mouth and not think about anything. But she thought about Sirius again and remembered when he said he wouldn't let anyone touch her. It seemed kind of protective and she found herself wondering if he really meant it. What if he had fee- no, she couldn't afford to drown in that madness again. And even if she wanted, her own pride would never let her think good about him."What am I thinking?" she muttered, clearly pissed off at herself. And then, that chilling, disgusting thought hit her again. He had other girls. It bothered her a lot, really. It had bothered her since she was held in his castle. The thought made her fume with anger, before and now. She wondered if he had ever seen someone for who they were, not for what they gave. But even that thought, of him loving someone else for who they were, instead of what they gave, filled her with a bitterness that she couldn't shake off.Her mind then wandered to other things, her lost biological parents and the desire to know who they were. She wondered if they were still alive, where were they or had they ever thought about her. There were a thousand questions and for a moment, she remembered Seraphina, who had told her about a witch named Agnes.Agnes was the associate of Sirius, his partner in destruction of Avalon. Her heart started pounding rapidly and a new wave of determination washed over her. She remembered that Seraphina had told her that Agnes was imprisoned, but she didn't know where. Maybe she could find her. Maybe she could free her and learn from her.A new sense of purpose filled Regan. She would find Agnes. She would find the truth about her parents. She had to. And while thinking about all that, she fell into a slumber. The next day, she woke up and saw that Iris was still sleeping. A few moments, later, the brunette woke up and looked at her, her expression a bit concerned, "Good morning, Cornelia. Are you better now? Did you sleep?""I'm fine. Thanks for asking." Regan said, trying to not sound too grumpy. "And yes, I slept." She didn't want to tell Iris about all of her plans. Maybe she had to do it alone. It was her burden and no one else's.Iris nodded and smiled, looking a bit relieved, "Alright. I'm going to change and eat breakfast. You should eat as well," she suggested and then disappeared behind the blue door.Regan sighed and turned to the blue windows, noticing the first signs of dawn peeking through the horizon. The claiming thing still haunted her. Although she didn't want to think about Sirius, she still couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if he hadn't gotten her out of Agnar's dungeon."I would have helped myself," she said to herself through gritted teeth, "I don't need anyone's help. I don't have to rely on anyone." She paused for a moment, her fists clenching. She knew she was mad, but also knew that she had to keep it under control. If she let her anger get the best of her, she would end up doing something stupid again. The door opened and Iris returned, her face flushed from the cold. "Come on, Cornelia. Breakfast is ready," she said with a smile. Regan forced a smile back and followed her to the small cyberpunk-themed kitchen. The good smell of food filled the air overly.Jack was there as well, already sitting. He was too busy in eating his breakfast to notice them."Good morning, Jack," Iris as she sat at the small table."Morning." He mumbled through a mouthful of food.Regan took a seat as well, across from Iris. She tried to eat something, but she couldn't focus. Her mind kept wandering, thinking about Agnes and how she could find her. She felt a sense of urgency growing inside her."So, Cornelia? What are your plans for our cause?" Iris asked, as she was eating her food, which looked like a white omelette with some sort of vegetables and fruits on the side. The same was on Regan's plate, "I hope you are as eager as Jack and I are. We need all the help we can get.""Yes, I know." Regan trailed off. In fact, she had no idea. She was trying to make up something, "I'm thinking about it. But you can tell your plan as well." She said, looking at Iris, trying to sound interested and engaged.Iris smiled at her, "Of course, Cornelia. I have my plans. Since Sirius is in the city, I thought that we should find him. I mean, I've never seen him. Never ever."A shiver ran down Regan's spine at the mention of seeing Sirius. It was the last thing she wanted, to see him again. She was already haunted by him and she didn't need more."And what are you going to do, little bird?" Jack chuckled, "Are you going to tell him you are his fan?" He teased.Iris glared at him, "Jack, that's not funny." Then, turning back to Regan, "Anyway, we should find a way to locate him. Perhaps we can try to act like we are his allies. We can learn his weaknesses and strike him. Make him understand what he's done."Regan swallowed hard. She was terrified of meeting him again. She was grateful enough that she escaped, although a glimpse of guilt took her over every time she thought about it. She left him alone. But she didn't want to face him. She didn't want to see his face. She didn't want to feel anything."I don't think it's a good idea, Iris. Not, if you want us all to die," Jack retorted."Yes, he's right." Regan said, trying to vanish the idea, "that's ridiculous, we don't have to do that. He's dangerous and if he knows that someone is betraying or playing him, he'd either kidnap or kill them. And he doesn't have weaknesses. Only his dominions, I guess."She took a deep breath and looked at Iris, "Believe me, even if you escape, it's a terrible feeling to know you are being chased. You feel helpless and you're in constant fear."Iris looked at her, a mixture of surprise in her eyes, "But I like the thrill. I like the adrenaline rush. I'm not afraid of him," she paused, "And I want to confront him.""Iris, you're ridiculous." Jack scoffed."Shut up, fatso," Iris snapped at Jack. "You're just too scared. You're not willing to risk anything." She turned back to Regan. "I get what you're saying. But I just wanted to see him....once. They say he's too handsome."Regan's cheeks flushed in annoyance and anger. She didn't like how Iris was talking about Sirius. "Iris, that's not a good idea. I don't want you to end up bad. We can try other methods. If you are willing to get revenge for your homeland, we can go there and spread the word, raise rebellion or just do something against him."There was no sense in her words, Regan knew. The only thing in her mind that was a straight goal, was to find her parents first. But she couldn't say it so straightforwardly. Maybe if she helped Iris and Jack first, then she'd do it.Iris's expression turned thoughtful for a moment, "And would you be willing to help us with this, Cornelia?" she asked, her eyes a hint of hope."Of course," Regan said. She didn't know what else she was willing to do, except from finding her parents. For some odd reason, she, herself, didn't want him to die. Maybe he knew more about her parents, if she couldn't reach Agnes. But would he ever tell?"I think that's a perfect plan! What do you think, Jack?" Iris turned at Jack who had his mouth full of food."I've always followed your plans. And it seems fine," he cracked.Regan felt an unease spread over her. She didn't know why she came up with this stupid plan, but she couldn't just interrupt it."So, Cornelia? What do you say? You have magical powers and this will help all of us. Do you agree?" Iris asked.Regan didn't know why she was being asked this. After all, it was her who came up with the very pointless plan.
