Fight For It

Celia felt like she'd been chewing on the same morsel of stew for an hour, but she couldn't bring herself to swallow.

Being under her mother's hawkish stare wasn't really helping her appetite, but she knew she'd better eat a proper dinner unless she wanted to face a barrage of questions.

Celia managed to finally swallow, then took a sip of wine. Her expression was calm but inside, the two sides of her raged.

She could lean on her mother, but not too much. Otherwise, the temptation to confide in her and tell her everything, would be brutal.

Damn you, Tobin, Celia clenched her jaw. Damn you for forcing me to carry the shame of your mistreatment like a terrible burden. One that I'm too scared and proud to share with anyone.
