She'd let Lucas kiss her again that day, after she'd spent a couple of blissful hours in Gabriel's nursery. One of the dry nurses had kept her company for a while, a young woman with a jolly smile named Jeanne.

Celia and Jeanne had ended up chatting while Celia had changed Gabriel's linen and rocked him in her arms. She didn't care that a princess shouldn't really be making conversation with a servant, let alone talking to her like an equal.

But it struck her how long it had been since she'd had female friendliness in her life. Not the kind of backbiting friendship she'd had for years with Lauren Blackwell. But just to have someone around who was friendly and cheerful.

Someone wasn't working to tear her down bit by bit.

The red headed wet nurse opened the door and nodded at Celia in a silent warning.
