"So then, gentlemen. Why am I here? What do you with to discuss?" Celia made a point at looking each man in the face.

The eldest gentleman, who she knew was named Earl Livar, spoke first. "Your Majesty, I assume you're aware our new king has announced won't be calling his Grand Council for another two months or so?"

She nodded. "I'm aware, yes. It's not a decision I agree with, but it's our reality."

"It leaves us all - as well as the kingdom - in a rather precarious position until then. His Majesty's intention to have a season of celebration means that very little will likely be done this winter, but unfortunately there's much to do." Earl Livar rubbed his forehead as if his thoughts were tormenting him. "There are issues that can't wait until spring to be addressed."
