Early in the morning, Mi Shen was startled awake by a series of knocks at the door.
"Shenshen, get up and come exercise with great-grandpa," came the voice of the great-grandfather through the door.
Mi Shen turned over and bumped into someone's arms.
Seeing that person propping their head with one hand, reclining next to her, a pair of deep black eyes unblinkingly staring at her.
Mi Shen was instantly flustered.
"Feng... Fengchang!"
"You're awake?"
The man's dark eyes gazed intently at her face.
"Shenshen? Shenshen?" Li Fengchang persisted knocking at the door. Mi Shen, worried that he would grow suspicious, had to raise her voice to respond, "Great-grandpa, I... I'm not up yet."
"Not up yet?" Li Fengchang checked his watch and muttered, "It's already 6:30 am, and you're still not up?"
"I'm getting up right now..."
The old man frowned, thinking of the soup still stewing in the pot, and turned to check the kitchen first.
"Fengchang, shall we... get up?"
