The world we live in.
Dìqiú. Prithvi. Zemlya. Jigu. Terrie. Solo. Terra. Tierra. Earth.
Over a hundred words to call it, but the truth is The world we live in...
...is a lie.
Nothing else is real anymore.
Back when things were still real, a famous philosopher once said;
"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; I am not sure about human stupidity though."
However, is that really true?
The universe almost came to an end and human stupidity continued. No matter where you go, you will always find stupidity. It is like a shadow, which follows you everywhere.
In all honesty. I think we need stupidity to keep on living. Just like what the builders say; The larger stones do not lie well without the lesser.
In order for one to be named a genius. There has to be a loser. To get first place. Someone has to take the last position.
That's why my life is a lie, because I am the only one competing. A race against no one, besides myself.
It is such a lonely life. As the sun my golden eyes are glaring at.
A lovely silence covers my ears, as the surrounding crowd holds their breaths waiting for the judge to continue.
"Fifty jurors are in the courtroom. Mrs. Ashlyn, I understand you are the foreperson?"
It is the judges deep hose voice. He became wrinklier because of this case. Yet, he is still in his fifties, anyone can tell from his gray eyes. His bald head is shining, reflecting the sun's rays.
"Correct."
A gentle voice answers. It is sweet and mesmerizing to the point I had to look at the owner. A beautiful short woman. Her green eyes screamed in arrogance.
"Did your jury reach a verdict?"
"…yeah." She answers with a grandiose voice. Looking at me with the corner of the eye.
"Did you reach a verdict on each of the one hundred and fifty-four counts?" The Judge massaged his brows.
He must have been aiming for his nose. This place is like a neighborhood garbage bin. No one has taken a proper bath, while this case was on.
"Yes we did."
'That lolicon really wants to give me a death penalty.'
"Please hand over the verdict forms to the bail."
'Finally it is nearly over...let me take a nap again.'
No one in the courtroom is on my side. Even my lawyer. If he could, he could have just killed me instead.
'It is annoying to look at faces of people who carry anything but animosity towards me.'
After a couple of minutes, the judge was finally able to finish organizing the papers given to him.
"The verdict reads as follows... As to count one of the information. George Banana, the jury finds Tito Roux Z guilty of first degree reckless homicide as submitted."
The judge took a pause to flip the page. His voice was filled with fury. He is even shooting angry glares at me. However, he just had to put an emotionless professional look.
"Question, did Mr. Roux Z commit the crime using his abilities. The answer, yes."
'No, I didn't, that was someone else.'
The judge took a breather, as he moved to a different document, "As to count two of the information, Axol Poyo. The jury finds Tito Roux Z guilty of first degree, recklessly endangering safety as submitted. " He took a small pause, "Did Mr. Roux Z commit the crime while using a dangerous weapon? The answer, yes."
'I use my legs though...weapons will just break in the heat of battle.'
"As to count three of the information, Alex Yosef. The jury finds Tito Roux Z guilty of first degree, Grand Theft Auto as submitted. Did Mr. Roux Z commit the crime while using his abilities and dangerous weapons? The answer, yes."
'Dude, I can't even ride a bike. No, that's not even the case. I did not do any of the crimes!'
"As to count four of....."
There is no point in listening. There are one hundred and fifty other cases left. I don't see any point in keeping all the formalities.
'I will just sleep.'
This is a public courtroom, hosted in a stadium. It set to accommodate at least a hundred thousand people. Some even see me as a dot. Yet they still bothered to stay.
What amazes me. Is how I am able to keep a calm face in this whole situation. I might die or not. As they say, a calm mind brings inner strength and self-confidence.
As I close my eyes I start to ponder. Why should people be judged?
In all religions in this world they say judging is for the one in the heavens. Is there even someone up there?
If there is, then who is going to judge him/her? I would like to take that part for myself, if I can.
You see, all my life people have been judging me. Either for my looks or for my abilities.
I was born with the same hair as the Holy Demonette Lilith who destroyed the world thirty years ago. A split mixture of white and black.
Some even called me her son. Yet, I was born a decade later after she disappeared. My parents even dumped me in the park because of it.
No orphanage could take me. I had to spend my whole childhood leaving behind the rundown local library.
It was the safest place to avoid people. As a great person once said, "Criticism is something we can easily avoid by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing."
That's what I wanted. Until one day... I got bit by a Gemini crystal firefly. I then became the first person to hold superpowers.
Basically no person in this Universe can use superpowers besides me. Which only made my hell worse. My ability lets me turn my body to fire and burn things.
I wasn't planning to review myself to the world. Nevertheless, there is always a catch to everything.
I am sure everyone knows this. Gemini the sixth zodiac stands for twins.
The moment I was bitten by the Gemini bug.... a twin was produced from my body. He is the one who became Humanities hope against the Alien invaders from outer space.
Unlike other twins this b*stard used my name and everything on my bio. We even have the same fingerprints, so you can say he is a clone of mine.
I didn't know this until I was fifteen, three years later I got my ability. Some weird sky blue haired girl, who was dressed as a nun came to the library.
"Therefore wait for me," declares the LORD, "for the day when I rise up to seize the prey. For my decision is to gather nations, to assemble kingdoms, to pour out upon them my indignation, all my burning anger; for in the fire of my jealousy all the earth shall be consumed."
With my hands up front. I immediately cut her off, "Listen lady, I am not a religious person. Please bother someone else."
After that she just threw a newspaper in front of me and left. That is when I saw my clone/twin. He was living a life, I was too narrow-minded to dream of.
But in all honesty it was none of my business. I continued to live my life as a stock trader. Life was going well, I even managed to buy a house in a small city. When I turned 18, I started betting...
...and I never lost. This led me to be banned from various betting houses and casinos.
I had saved enough money to live a good life, until that b*stard clone of mine started going rogue. He committed every crime on Earth. I can't even voice some of them out. At the end, he burned himself to death!
And I have to be the one to suffer for his crimes!
"... Are you listening to me! Murderer!!?"
That low-pitched feminine voice woke me up. I could see it was time for the victims to give their opinions on the cases.
"It's already hot enough, the least you can do is look at me!!"
The woman who is shouting has a petite figure and long brown hair. Her brown eyes are all pouring out twin rivers of tears. Her face is contorted in both rage and sadness.
I am only looking at her because I want to check the position of the sun.
'When did it become morning again..? I slept just before noon.'
"You are the reason we have been at this desert for two years."
She took time to sniff her running nose, "You killed my husband, I wasn't supposed to say goodbye to Josef in a coffin."
She starts crying, and her voice started to break, "I w...asn't supposed...to be a… wid…ow at forty.
Tell me why—!? "
"Ain't nothing but a heartache."
I nonchalantly cut her off, and her face started burning with rage. She was standing a hundred yards away from me. This made it easy for the guards to stop her from jumping over to me.
My lawyer quickly stepped on my foot. I closed my eyes and gave her the response she needed,
"I killed him because he deserved it."
Josef her husband was an alien spy working undercover in the World Government. I killed him together with his friends.
That is the only crime I committed...but it is not like people will listen to me.
I am already a rotten egg in their eyes, no matter what I will never hatch.
The woman took deep breaths and poured her heart at me, "You shouldn't be alive, even if it's in prison. You don't deserve the right to talk to your family, to write anybody or to have visits."
'I don't have any friends or family though.'
"I wanted the death penalty for you. You should have never been born!"
"Ha ha ha! Hahahaha!!"
"Do you think this is funny?!" She roared with a red face full of anger, "This is a life we are talking about!!"
Rattle—!
The thousand ton great stone chains binding my body shook. Gritting my teeth, I used all the strength in my average body.
Crack—!
The iron pieces flew all over the place. Dread washed all over everyone's face. I put my right hand on my black hair covering my left eye.
"I have been hearing those words my whole life. If you have nothing else to say, go home and cry there."
Phew... At least I didn't get a death penalty. I will just escape and change my identity.
