The sound was raw, hoarse and broken.
Lav froze. Her breath caught, her body stiffening as her head whipped around to look at him. Her eyes widened, disbelief flashing across her face. "You..." She whispered, her voice unsteady. "I'm sorry, Lav. I'm sorry" Bryant's lips trembled as he spoke again.
His voice was unpolished, the strain of years of silence evident in every word. Shock rippled through Lav. Bryant had never spoken a word, not in all the time she had known him. To hear his voice now, pleading, begging, was like witnessing something impossible.
Lav's cold gaze faltered for the briefest moment as she stared at the man who had broken his own silence just to beg her forgiveness. Yet, her heart stayed locked away, hidden behind her unreadable expression. "Did you lie to me this whole time, making me a fool?"
