The Rumours Were True!

Dabria stood there frozen as the four demon lords emerged. She was left utterly dumbstruck by their presence, as if she had been struck by lightning.

'They were real! The rumours were true!' Dabria's inner goddess chimed in her head over and over again.

As much as Dabria's blood ran cold from fear, standing in the midst of predatory demons as them, she was slightly fascinated, knowing the rumors had been true.

The servants working in the castle hadn't made up rumors to stir fear and chaos in the kingdom, they were right.

Dabria was abruptly snapped back to reality when she heard a low, dark voice ripple through the air "They are my acquaintances, as you already know."

Dabria's gaze narrowed to the direction of the voice and her eyes locked into the stormy silver ones of Lucian's.

Trembling like a leaf in the storm, Dabria bowed, uncertain of what to do or say.

"And who is this bunny you found in the woods, Lucian?" Dabria heard a mischievous voice ring while her head was still lowered.

Dabria realized it wasn't Lucian speaking and she couldn't imagine how close the demons must have been for them to address the demon king with his first name.

Raising her head up, her eyes fell into contact with the devilish crimson orbs of the redhead. Dabria immediately knew he was, after all, he was quite famous for his lavish lifestyle amongst the other four demon lords.

"She's a lost bunny and a terrified one at that, you may leave now." Lucian said immediately, but Dabria was too far gone in her thoughts, she failed to process his words at the moment.

"Huh?" Dabria's lashes fluttered in disbelief as she finally processed his words. He was letting her go? Just like that?

"Do you want to stay instead?" Lucian asked in a low purr, tilting his head slightly to the side with a devilish grin curving his lips up to reveal his glistening fangs.

"N-No, thank you my lord." Dabria stuttered in between her words as she bowed erratically. She could feel goosebumps materialize on her skin at his blood curdling smile.

Darting her eyes across the demons one last time, Dabria veered around with a swift motion and took to her heel as she recognized the danger she was in.

As Dabria raced through the forest, her heart hammered loudly against her ribcage as she feared that the demons might change their minds and hunt her instead, after all, she had heard of how the demon king derived pleasure in torture and hunts, anything to keep his sadistic nature pleased.

Fortunately, Dabria dashed out of the forest and was soon in the safety of the public. Rushing out of the forest in a frantic manner, everyone's eyes fell on her.

Dabria cleared her throat as she composed herself while walking amidst the crowds, but then, she noticed the side eyes and hushed whispers while they avoided physical contact.

Not able to point her finger on what was wrong, she went on her way. Not until Dabria was halfway home did she realize that she had forgotten her cloak back in the forest.

Dabria tucked her white hair behind her ears and lowered her face as she walked hurriedly to their cottage. The hushed whispers rose in the air every step she took, all eyes dropped on her and it made her steps quicken even more.

Dabria's breathing turned erratic as she scurried out of the bustling crowd. With all the attention and disdainful glares on her, Dabria had grown up with anxiety problems, making her to stir away from the public eye.

For a long time now, Dabria hadn't gone outside without her cloak, which made her almost forget how suffocating the attention was on her.

Finally, Dabria emerged out of the bustling crowd and now, she was walking along a lone bushy path seconds away from their house.

Dabria let out a heavy sigh as she calmed her racing heart down. The attention and loathing from the villagers weren't the only reason she was anxious about them catching sight of her, she was as well terrified of all the rumors that had been circulating over the years.

Rumors had risen across the town that she practiced black magic and plagued the land with a sickness that had affected the children recently.

As if the untrue allegations against her weren't enough, they were whispers of certain villagers wanting to take the matter into their own hands and subject her to a death penalty.

They all wanted her dead and she was very well aware of it. They wanted to wipe the peculiar and dangerous being out of their lives, but they were wrong. Peculiar she was, but dangerous, she wasn't or was she?

Even though she had no idea what her nature was, it didn't give the villagers the right to jump to a conclusion and alienate her as a dangerous outcast.

As Dabria walked along the lone path with her head lowered, she abruptly bumped into a hard, steely frame.

Hissing in pain, Dabria looked up to meet a towering figure standing in front of her. Her brows creased in alert as she took two steps back.

Her large purple eyes narrowed as she observed him. The man in front of her was beautiful, but fortunately not in a haunting way unlike the demons, rather he had a bestial aura.

The unknown man in front of her possessed brown locks of hair that stopped around his shoulder in a wolf cut. His golden eyes glowed fiercely as it dropped on her as if she was an insect in his sight.

His facial features were sharp, his strong neck were connected to powerful arms, and the sun shining down on him, gave his tanned skin an ethereal golden glow.

He was wearing a fur cloak with nothing underneath, paving a slight view to his uncovered torso. Dabria's eyes abruptly caught a glimpse of his tanned, taut chest and she immediately looked away.

Judging from his appearance and the expensive fur he was clad in, Dabria immediately realized he was a being of high power.

Dabria suddenly pondered on why she was meeting powerful men that day. Where were they coming from?
