Chapter CXXX: In the Spark of Doubt

The next day, everything returned to normal. I sat down at my mahogany desk to write down some of my thoughts. I had always done this when I wanted to escape my less-than-happy mood and refocus on what I intended to do that day. I hadn't expected my fiancé to wake up the moment I started writing.

"Good morning, Antonio. What are you writing over there?" he asked, his voice calm.

"N-Nothing… It's not like it's important or that you'd care," I replied, somewhat evasive.

"Are you still upset that I hired that architect to work for us? Come on, I'm not interested in blondes, and I'm not going to leave you so easily for someone else."

I felt somewhat relieved, hearing Cesare's reassuring words meant to distract me from yesterday's nonsense. Maybe it was nonsense, and I should just let it go, right?
