Chapter 3: Strange absence

As each day passed, Han got more closer to the friend group, while Elias felt more isolated and distant to them. But even if things turned out this way, Elias couldn't blame anyone. He just thought that life could not always give him everything and anything nice to him all the time. And so, Elias gradually accepted it, now slowly becoming the loner that Han used to be.

Its quite hilarious how Elias used to be befriended by numerous schoolmates, but now, he barely gets any interactions with others. Meanwhile, Han used to be different from the rest, and now, it looks like he's taken Elias's place, what a funny outcome.

Elias remained in his seat as he watched his group of friends enjoy a lively conversation without him. He decided that he should learn to be accepting and enjoy living in a desolate place inside his mind.

Two days later, Han noticed that Elias was absent in class. He was wondering why he took a leave for school, since Elias is the type of guy who is usually present and active in class, including the extra curricular activities hosted by the school itself. What could make Elias take a leave of absence? Han shrugged it off and proceeded to mind his own business.

Within the next few days, Elias remained absent from the classes, yet Han still didn't pay no mind to it.

Fast forward to the 9th day, Elias still hadn't shown up to school. Finally, Han managed to notice this sudden, strange absence and decided to pay a visit to Elias's home.

After class ended, he walked to Elias's house. After 10 minutes of walking away from school, he finally arrived at his friend's home. He knocked three times on the door, and the door slowly opened, making a creaking noise. There, was Elias's mom, her eyes all red and full of sadness, as if like she just mourned for someone's death.

"Good day to you auntie, is Elias here? He hasn't been active in school up until now. Is he feeling alright?" Han questioned, his voice revealing a sense of worry and his expression showing a hint of concern.

Elias's mother, Lin, stared at the young man for a few moments, then pure sadness washed over her face.

"Young man, you don't know what happened? At all?"

Han felt puzzled at the older woman's question, and replied "No auntie, I haven't heard from him so far. Did something happen?"

The woman tried her best not to let the obvious sadness show on her face, and covered it up with a sigh,

"Here, you can have this. It might help you with your questions." The older woman handed a journal book to the man, but Han felt confused and glanced at the book for a few seconds. After that, he accepted the book from the woman's hands, then responded

"Thank you auntie, i'll be leaving now so I won't disturb you any longer."

Lin, who is still showing a hint of sorrow, replied "Have a nice day, young man."

Han walked home and went to his room to read the journal that Elias's mom gave him.

He flipped through the first page, which was like a diary, the handwriting seemed very similar to Elias's.
